A private room in an apartment well situated in a central, yet peaceful, neighborhood of Athens.
For those who are looking for a comfortable and pleasant place to stay in Athens you are offered accommodation in an apartment conveniently situated in Ano Petralona, one of the most beautiful and central neighborhoods of Athens.
If you enjoy walking it is possible from my place to stroll around the central and historical Athens and get a very good view of it in that way. If you are not the walking type of tourist there are easy alternatives as the metro station and the trolley-bus stop are nearby.
You can easily reach the historical Philopappos hill, where Pnyx and Philopappos monument are, and wander around as there are nice paths all over the hill and also parts with panoramic views (also nice sun-sets). You can enjoy sun-bathing or reading a book lying under a tree and relaxing with the bird sounds.
After crossing the hill (15 min walk) you reach Acropolis hill, Acropolis museum and Ancient Agora, all three not to be missed sites. Other most interesting, nearby areas, which can also be reached easily on foot, are Plaka (ask the way to Anafiotika – you will be impressed), Kerameikos, Monastiraki and its Flea Market, Thisseion, Dionyssiou Areopagitou and Apostolou Pavlou pedestrian zones and Ermou Street (the main shopping street in Athens). They are all touristy places with cafes, restaurants and shops without traffic and the busy atmosphere of other places in Athens.
My apartment is in a very nice area with no high buildings, as it is not permitted due to its proximity to the historical part of Athens. It is a way to preserve the atmosphere of Athens as it used to be which is a very positive aspect for us living here.
The neighborhood is also well connected to public transport and you will find your way easily both from the port or the airport (information in my directions filed). The tram station is also easily accessible which can take you to one of the various beaches of the city.
The neighborhood of Petralona itself has plenty of restaurants, cafes and even an open-air cinema (with subtiltled movies) and has become lately an attraction pole of people from all parts of Athens who enjoy its nice, relaxing atmosphere and its various alternatives in terms of food and drinks. Since you mainly find locals in the area the quality and pricing of food is better compared to other touristy places. If you have the time to explore this historic residential area you will be amazed to see its part of the houses of stone (ta petrina) that looks like a village in the mountains and was made to house the refugees from the Anatolia coast, its many neoclassical houses, a small hidden part with narrow paths and white detached houses looking like being in a village and also its open-air grocery market every Friday.
The apartment is located 400m away from the metro station of Petralona (green line).
The house is on the 1st floor of a 3 floors building. It is bright, sunny and airy, clean and very comfortable. It provides
- one bedroom with double bed and access to a small private balcony
- fully equipped kitchen
- fully equipped bathroom
- easy parking
- hardwood flooring
- hot water 24/7
- internet access
- washing machine
- hair dryer
- clean sheets and towels
- full access to the fridge / cupboards for preparing breakfast and/or snack
- access to 150m terrace
- pets are most welcome to apartment and building
- bicycle if needed
Smoking is not allowed in the bedroom. If you are a smoker, you can smoke in the balcony. You are welcome to use everything you may need from the apartment as long as you take good care of it. Check-in and out times are left open, but always with respect to possible guests coming or leaving the same day. Thank you!
Chrysa is very friendly and welcomming person. She offers help with anything you need. She gave us usefull map with some tips where to go. Her apartment is in walking distance to all important places. You dont really need to use a pulbic transport at all if you dont want to. We had a lot of privacy and felt like home at her place. I would highly recommend Chrysas place.
Chrysa was an excellent host! When I first got to her place, she gave me a map and plenty of recommendations on what to see in Athens. She also made me fresh tea and let me know that I was free to use anything in the kitchen, so I felt very much at home in her place. The room itself is lovely and plenty spacious enough, and the neighborhood is a good place to stay in if you want to get more of a local's perspective of Athens. Overall it was a great experience, and I highly recommend her listing!
Chrysa is one of the kindest persons I have ever met in my life. She is very helpful with everything, from where to visit to how to get there, from making everything always attainable to making sure you are enjoying your stay in beautiful Athens. Along with all her good personal qualities, her place is located very close to most of the nicest places to go to in central Athens and it is very easy to get to from the Eleftherios Venizelos Airport by metro. Although I had a very short stay, I was able to see every site, square and museum I wanted to see taking a short walk through the amazing archeological park, listening to the peaceful sounds of birds and flute players echoing across the Hills of the Muses, Nymphs - Pnyx. :)
I would look for no other place to stay for my next visit! I recommend it for couples and lone travelers who are looking for a safe and peaceful place nearby the central historical places.
Chrysa was very polite and helpful to me and my wife. The room that we stayed was more than better. Everything was so clean. The weather was a little bit cold but we could use the air conditioner to heat the room.
The area is very friendly and save. Subway is 10 mins walking away.
Hope to see you Chrysa and Athens again!
Chrysa is an awesome host who will go out of her way to make sure every need is met. The flat is very clean and the room is huge with its own balcony. I would recommend Chrysa as a host to anyone thinking to stay in Athens. You can't beat her hospitality, location, and accommodation.
This was my second time staying with Chrsya. I was fortunate enough to go back to Greece again this year and knew I had to stay with her again in Athens. She is a wonderful, courteous, and helpful host. She went above and beyond to make things convenient for myself and my friend. Also, she left some delish food for us to make breakfast. I felt lucky we got to stay with her again and would reach out to her my next visit as well. Thanks again Chrysa!
The apartment was perfect for a quick weekend. In a great location and very comfortable. Chrysa left great instructions for getting to and from the airport as well as getting around the city. Chrysa was not there but her friend made me feel very comfortable and prepared for the weekend. Highly recommended especially for the price.

I am a person that enjoys dancing, travelling, spending time with friends and meeting new people and places. At the same time I enjoy relaxing with a nice book and taking yoga classes. I appreciate healthy food and tasting dishes from other countries. Travelling all around the world is one of my dreams. I am willing to help you as much as possible to enjoy your holiday, but at the same time I tend to be discreet enough preserving your privacy.
