The house was great and as described. I agree with another reviewer who said it would have been better to have pics of the bedrooms to know what to expect. There were no sheets for the pull-out couch. There really should be. Fortunately, my friend had a spare sheet. We got no information on how to get in the house. Thankfully my friend who was also staying there figured it out, as Laura wasn't reachable at that time. We absolutely loved the house and grounds, though. We had an amazing visit!
This house was as described in the listing - however, I feel that more information would be very helpful for people looking to rent it. 5 beds: 2 queen beds, 2 twin beds, and a pull out double sofa bed. Three bedrooms upstairs and one in the basement, each with private bath.
We stayed in the house with 6 children and 4 adults. My family (2 adults and 2 children) slept in one room in the basement. The room was large enough to fit all of us - a crib, one kid in a sleeping bag, and a queen bed.
Things we enjoyed:
The kids and dogs LOVED the yard and swing set. We spent an entire day just froliking outside. It's easy to keep an eye on everyone from the expansive porch. We all fit at the dining room table easily, and definitely made use of the provided grill. The house is minutes from plenty of hiking and a nice distance from the touristy areas of the White Mountains.
Things that could have been better:
Laura, the host, was unresponsive to (website hidden)s. Before renting the house, I asked about the beds and pet deposit and got no response. She responded immediately to the rental request and a date change request, so I know she gets at least some of the messages. We ended up calling her, but once we were situated in the cabin she didn't answer the phone when we called with questions. For this reason, even though we loved our trip and enjoyed the house, I have to dock a star.
This place was amazing! The pictures provided don't even do it justice. The property was fun to explore with my dog and my friends. One of my favorite parts of the stay was cooking various meals for everyone I was staying with, which was made very easy by Laura's incredibly well-stocked kitchen and the conveniently located market just a mile or two up the road. The weather wasn't great, but if it was trust me; I'd have been up at Echo Lake beach for hours every day. I still can't believe how close it is to all these places I used to love going with my mom growing up like that beach, The Basin, Georgianna Falls, etc.
My experience in renting this house for a family vacation was wonderful. We loved the incredibly peaceful setting, surrounded by greenery and a brook behind the house. The location was extremely convenient, minutes from Franconia Notch State Park. Echo Lake was just 2.5 miles away and the Flume less than 14 miles away. We'd love to stay there again.
We had a fantastic stay! Would definitely stay again. When we first requested the home, it was unavailable, and when plans changed for Laura and her family she contacted me to ask if I still wanted to rent the house. It was perfect for 8 adults and 3 small children (under age 2). The setting is so peaceful, and the directions Laura gave made the home easy to find. The location was ideal for the activities we wanted to do-- biking Franconia Notch State Park, Cannon Mountain Tram, Flume Gorge, etc.
A beautiful home in a gorgeous location. We had an extended family gathering and loved the play areas for the kids, and the river just steps away. The kitchen was big and well stocked. The home was sparsely decorated but it was good to have an uncluttered space for kids to be in. The only complaint we had was that the house was supposed to sleep 8, but one of the.double beds was a pull out couch on the floor that was very uncomfortable. Luckily we had a spare air mattress, but it would have been nice to have an actual bed. I suggest more photos of the bedrooms just so guests know what to expect. Otherwise all was comfortable. Thank you Laura!
I'm a yogi from CO. I too rent out our NH home through Air BNB. The thought of staying in a hotel for more than a night is not something I enjoy. I like my peace and own food.
