Interaction with Guests
If I am home when my guest arrives I will meet them and give a quick run down of the unit and the local things to do. Some of my guests have joined in the porch parties we often have when it is nice out.
Plaza Midwood historic district has many awesome renovated 1920's houses. In the spring, the flowers are great.
A bus stop located 1 block from the unit will get you downtown in 5 minutes for $2. The buses run about every 10 - 15 minutes.
Enjoy the unit. It is in my back yard. I will respect your privacy and I expect the same. No smoking in the unit, the deck is a great place to smoke if you like.
Please feel free to drink the coffee and water that I have left for guests. I also left some individual packs of Oatmeal if you like a quick meal, but with all the cool restaurants around, you might enjoy walking to one of them for breakfast.
Please feel free to ask me for recomendations for anything you might need. I have lived in the area for 30 years and I know it well.
This is an excellent property in a perfect location. I live in Charlotte, but we were celebrating my husband's birthday in Plaza Midwood. It was worth the price just to have off-street parking for the night! You can walk to bars, restaurants, grocery, drugstore. It was great to have a night out and not have to drive home afterwards. While I didn't meet the owner, his generosity, style, and pride in his home were evident in every detail of the space. Everything was neat and clean and in perfect working order. The space is quiet and private but in the heart of one of the most lively neighborhoods in Charlotte. It was nicer than a hotel and at a nicer price too.
John's apartment was really great. He had wine set out for us when we arrived and everything was clean with towels stocked for us. It was also in a really cool part of Charlotte with nice restaurants and shops within walking distance. Would definitely stay at again!
John was a marvelous host! His place is perfectly located and incredibly comfortable. John thought of every detail that would make a traveler feel welcome and relaxed. I'd stay here over and over again! Thanks for a great stay, John!
We really enjoyed staying in this apartment! The pictures and description of the space is 100% accurate, except that it's even better in person. It's very private, quiet, and clean. John welcomed us with a bottle of wine, bottles of water/soda in the fridge, snacks, and binders full of information about the surrounding area. The TV and AC system were easy to use and. We chose to stay here because we love the neighborhood, and we really enjoyed being able to walk to our favorite places. It was also really nice to be able to park in the driveway and off of the street.
This was one of the best Airbnb experiences I've ever had! The apartment was very easy to find, and check-in was very easy. John was communicative at all times and periodically checked with us (via text) to make sure everything was going well.
The apartment is really nice - even better than the pictures online. For being a studio-sized space, the layout and furnishings make it feel very spacious. I could easily see myself living comfortably in a space like this!
John left us a bottle of wine and had music playing when we arrived... such a great touch! Also, he left Coke, Diet Coke, and several bottles of water for us in the fridge. There was also an instant coffee maker and a basket of granola bars to tide us over between meals.
The location was incredibly convenient... literally steps from some great restaurants, nightlife, and shops. One of the days, we had breakfast at Zada Janes (less than a minute walk from the front door) and stopped next door at Buffalo Exchange. That night, we caught a skyline view of the city from the rooftop of the Peculiar Rabbit, then walked across the street to Snug Harbor for a metal/punk show and cheap 24oz PBRs. Fuel Pizza was our late-night greasy grub spot, and the walk home was only a couple of minutes.
We live in Chicago now, and this section of Charlotte seriously rivals many neighborhoods in terms of walkability and variety, but with much less noise, traffic, and general hassle.
All-in-all, this was an excellent experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to come back to this airbnb when I visit Charlotte next!
