About this listing
Large cottage style house with sea view, rolling hills, beautiful garden on a quiet country road. One double guest room with king size bed to let with ensuite bathroom. It is just a 1km walk to Clonakilty town, which has restaurants and lively pubs and is well known for live music sessions. The house is 1 km from the pretty fishing village of Ring which hosts two small pubs. Deasy's award-winning seafood restaurant is a fifteen minute walk down the hill or 3 minutes on my bike! Clonakilty is a five minute drive from beautiful Inchadonney beach, which has a surfing school. Check out the many coves that surround the area. Horse trekking is available locally. It takes about 50 minutes to the house from Cork airport by car, perfect for a chilled break. Happy travelling to you all.
Large living room with stove
Docking station for music, TV, internet
Very large garden
Back kitchen for indoor sleeping dog
There is very little public transport. A bus goes through the town to Cork City and to West Cork a few times a day.
Check out time is flexible depending on incoming (website hidden) smoking in the house but you can smoke in the garden.

This is much more than a B & B experience. It is sharing a home with a lovely, well-informed, and gracious person who knows Ireland, the area, and the restaurants and sights as your own private tour guide. My wife feels like she has found a new BFF. We spent part of a rainy day in front of a roaring fire, I managed to use Helene's bike to see the area more closely, Helene took us on a cook's tour of the city, and provided transport to a restaurant when we were still new to the area. The details: The room is pretty, clean, well appointed. The bathroom is small and adequate. The home and kitchen are spacious and there wasn't anything I wanted that wasn't easily available. However, the star of the experience is Helene's generous and open personality. What more can a traveler want?
My sister and I recently had the wonderful opportunity of staying in Helen's gorgeous home. Overlooking the stunning Clonakility landscape this is the ideal place for anyone looking to get away from it. Helen was a great host and what a lovely person. There was a full selection of cereals each morning along with juice and the best fresh coffee. We will definitely be returning. Above and beyond.
Helen's cottage was so warm and inviting. Her home is located near the top of a hill with sweeping views. Helen was very helpful with recommendations of places to see, local entertainment, and even made reservations for us at an excellent seafood restaurant nearby. She is a lovely person and we had a wonderful stay. If we are ever back in Clonakilty, we would love to stay here again. Truly one of the highlights of our trip.
she waited up late for me as my flights were delayed and i was 5 hours later than expected. and then made me hot tea. and placed me in front of a fire to relax. she was warm and welcoming.
Helen is a most gracious, welcoming and generous host. I stayed with her for a much needed four day break out of my long cycling tour of Ireland. I always felt at ease in her company. She is a wonderful conversationalist on a whole host of subjects.
From the outset of contact her communication was impeccable and her abode was very easy to find situated in a most glorious setting and within easy walking distance of the most vibrant Clonakilty. Helen has well developed the art of being both present and with her guests as well as being non intrusive. As for her abode, well it is difficult to describe the luxury an airbnb guest is given at such a generous cost. My bicycle was safely stored, a high priority for me. The first evening Helen gave me an excellent walking tour of Clonakilty pointing out all the venues of interest and I had a great time in Clonakilty using them all. Helen very caringly and in an non intrusive manner was kind enough to check on my well being by text when I had got back in the early hours of the morning one day and then had not surfaced by midday. I had decided to sleep out the atrocious weather in my snug bed until about 6pm then Helen very generously gave me a lift into town so I could carry on where I had left off. Clonakilty is not a place to be missed for good music, food and most sociable folk. I can without hesitation 100% reccommend Helen and her spacious, beautifully decorated abode.

About the Host, Helen
I dabble in photography, paint when I have time and travel as much as I can. My place would ideal for anyone travelling on their own or a couple, looking for a nice home away from home. My house has a large garden, you get a glimpse of the sea from a distance. It's near Clonakilty town but tucked away on a hillside.
Happiness is not a destination it is a way of life !
