I was so happy with my experience at Kathleen's apartment. The location seriously could not have been better: the house is right on the main street in town, so you're steps away from all the cute restaurants and bars and just a quick walk to the train station and ferry terminal. (Another note: definitely plan to take the ferry to Shelter Island for the day! It's great.) The roof access was great, you can make dinner and eat it up there at the wooden picnic table or even bring towels outside and lay out.
Greenport was super charming and the locals could not have been nicer. Definitely plan to stop by First & South for a glass of wine and Blue Canoe for dinner outside.
I am definitely going to plan another trip to Kathleen's soon.
Fantastic! Kate was so helpful and the apartment is perfect. The apartment is clean, cute, and steps away from everything in Greenport. The roof deck is great with a view of the water and Shelter Island.
My friends and I had the most wonderful stay at Kathleen's adorable apartment in Greenport. I thought the pictures looked great but the place is even better in person. It is super stylish, clean and comfortable. There is even a huge patio that overlooks the water. Another huge perk is that its right above one of the main streets in Greenport with boutiques, restaurants, bars and coffee shops a few steps away. We also really appreciated that Kathleen posted info on her door with all of the town's hot spots. She was incredibly pleasant via text as we confirmed our arrival and departure.
I can't say enough great things about Kate's place. First, it is adorable. The blue ways and sandy hues immediately set the tone for a relaxing beach escape. Second, the location could not have been better. Greenport is a tiny, mostly residential village with a central town center. The apartment is right in the heart of it all. To note, there is a grocery store, cafe, ferry, LIRR, and Suffolk County Bus station all within a <1 mile walking radius,
We stayed for Memorial Day and had an amazing trip. Shelter Island is not to be missed and is only a $5 RT ferry ride away. We had such a wonderful time and hope to be back soon.
A few notes on the apartment - the roof is fantastic (complete with table, chairs, and a view). There is also a coffee machine, a hairdryer, and a microwave at the apartment.
Fantastic place to stay in the heart of Greenport, we would definitely come back again!
Kate was a brilliant host and left everything for us so it was really easy to settle in straight away. Great tips on eating out as well.
Kathleen's apartment is a spacious and bright open plan design with a separate bedroom and small basic kitchen. You probably won't want to cook in anyway, because there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. Our favourite was a Mexican called Lucharito's - great margaritas and very good value.
Being in the busy centre of Greenport everything is within a short walk, but as others have pointed out, the apartment is opposite a club which plays loud music until the early hours on weekends. This is probably not an issue for the younger crowd who would be out and about most of the time anyway.
Communication with Kathleen was very good and we really appreciated being able to leave our bags when we arrived early.
Kathleen's place was great. Very clean and close to everything you need. Communication was a breeze. Greenport is a lovely town to get away to.
We had a great experience in Greenport, in a great location. The only thing to note is the amount of noise from the bars on the weekend if that's something that will bother you.
Kate was an amazing host. We arrived early and she was more than gracious about arranging to get us the key early so that we didn't have to wait around until later. The apt slept 3 of us comfortably and could have easily fit a 4th. It was in an amazing location! It was right in the middle of town, near all the restaurants, shopping, and bars. Such a cute beach town. There is even free parking around the corner. It was great to have a car to drive to further beaches and wineries. It was also very close to the ferry to Shelter Island - a 5 min walk.
The apartment itself was so cute and clean and well-stocked. There were so many small touches that were just above and beyond that really made the experience for us, such as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. Kate also leaves up post-its on the door with any FAQs about beaches, the apartment, and local spots for dining, etc. Overall, it was a great stay and we intend to return!
A perfect location in the center of Greenport's bustling community -- lots of stores, restaurants, beaches, galleries within easy walking distance. The ferry to Shelter Island is only minutes away. Location is almost perfect.
There is the matter of the bar across the street, whose late night clientele flows into the street for smokes and conversation, along with the band's music. This was more of a problem in the front bedroom, where the windows overlook the street.
When we moved to the smaller back bedroom the noise was much less bothersome. And a great advantage of the back BR is the access onto the rooftop where one can relax in lawn chairs and watch the harbor scene and a bit of the night life.
We were there over the July 4th weekend and saw quite a bit of the fireworks display without ever having to leave the apartment.
Very clean apartment and kitchen was stocked for the basics, but really, with so many great places nearby to eat, we never cooked a meal.
Both beds, one queen, one standard were very comfortable -- always a blessing when not sleeping in one's own familiar bed.
One thing to be aware of -- air conditioner is dependent on the business on the first floor. When they are closed, there is no A/C. That meant there was no air from 5 pm til 8 am and on the Fourth of July holiday. Now there IS a great breeze from the bay and with both front and back windows open, there is usually good cross ventilation. We happened to be there when the temps were hitting 90˚ every day, and the apartment didn't cool in the evening, especially on the 4th when there was no air during the day to cool it off. The biggest problem with this was we couldn't close the windows to block the noise from the bar. Not a problem if you are out and about until late night. I suspect this is an infrequent problem, one to simple be aware of.
We would absolutely choose to stay here again, now knowing the A/C situation, but we would have a better understanding of how to manage it.
Kathleen responded to our emails quickly, answered a few questions we had regarding the apartment, etc. was helpful in that regard.
