Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Via San Giovanni, Piano di Sorrento, Campania 80063, Italy

Surrounded by beautiful Sorrento Peninsula in a place secluded from the hustle and 10 minutes from the city center, my Villa has two guest rooms on one floor with a separate entrance from the rest of the house.

The Space

A Piano di Sorrento, in the heart of the Sorrento Peninsula, collected from the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno, lies our bed and breakfast : "Il pozzo e il mare", a quiet bed and breakfast, housed in a converted eighteenth century villa, where you will find hospitality and cordiality. Piano di Sorrento is a natural terrace overlooking the sea offering a wide panorama from Vesuvius to Sorrento, passing, on a clear day, the islands of the Gulf. In an area rich in historical and natural resources, a few steps from the fishing village Marina di Cassano, conveniently located offers everything that can make unforgettable your holiday or weekend in Amalfi:  - Within walking distance of the beaches of Marina di Cassano; - In the immediate vicinity you will also find bars, restaurants, shops, supermarket and much more ...! - Piano di Sorrento is well served by public transport, by sea or land, to spend your days in the most renowned of the Sorrento-Amalfi Coast: Capri, Sorrento, Positano, Ravello, Amalfi and Naples and the ancient Pompeii and Herculaneum; - If you love nature, from the sea to the mountains, you will find many services for excursions by boat or mountain, even for the more adventurous trekkers! After a day in the courtyard enclosed by thick walls of the villa, you can fully enjoy your relaxation, including air and brisk citrus scents, in an atmosphere of yesteryear.

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the common courtyard and the garden of the villa.

Interaction with Guests

The fastest way to interact is definitely in person since I live in the villa, but my guests can communicate with me by phone, email, (website hidden), wathsapp or even via the dedicated app "Il pozzo e il mare" bed and breakfast.

The Neighborhood

The district Cassano is quiet, surrounded by greenery and close to the city center.

Getting around

The neighborhood is well served by buses, the train station is 10 minutes away and the elevator municipal beach is 5 minutes away!

Other Things to Note

Around the villa (less than 5 minutes), there are several bars, restaurants, two supermarkets, a large car park and all that it can be useful!

  • Mario was amazing! His place is very clean and exactly what you see in the photos. I had a wonderful time it was exactly what I needed as I was on holiday by myself. I felt like I was at a friends beach house rather than a guest. The location is perfect and very safe. I walked everywhere even to Sorrento! However there is a train that you can take, which is two stops a way but I love to walk and his place is that conveniently located. I was able to visit the Amalfi coast and make it back to his place the same night. I will definitely return when I visit the area again.

  • I had a wonderful time at Mario's B&B. He was very helpful with explaining how to get around and the various points of interest on a map. The room was very big and very comfortable, clean and well taken care of. real value for money! We also had a lovely breakfast waiting for us in the courtyard every morning! My stay at this B&B made my trip to Sorrento an absolute pleasure! Thank you Mario!

  • We enjoyed our stay with Mario at his villa-style house in Piano DI Sorrento. He lives in the ground level rooms and the two guest rooms and shared bathroom are located on the second story, which is separated by an outdoor staircase so it feels very separate from his quarters. There is a large courtyard which he invites you to make use of, and a fridge, kettle, wardrobes and table inside the rooms which is very handy. When we arrived Mario sat us down, gave us a map of the local area, showed us where all the points if interest where, and answered all of our questions. We spoke to him at length on our last night and he's an interesting man who made us feel very at home. We also fell in love with his lazy little cat (who is only a loud outside - not any where near the rooms!). I highly recommend staying in Piano di Sorrento, which is only two train stops from the main centre of Sorrento, as it is significantly less expensive and touristy. Mario' house is ideally located and close to the train, supermarket, beach, and a variety of restaurants.

  • The beautiful old home has been in Mario’s family for generations, he told us. His attention to detail as an architect is evident in the restorations he has completed and others underway. We began our stay in the large double room with the terrace overlooking the ocean. It was perfectly comfortable, beautifully decorated, spacious, and cool (love the air conditioning on a hot late summer day). Our breakfast the first morning was equally excellent with lots of options. Workers were unexpectedly available for some repair work Mario had been trying to schedule. We were asked to switch rooms so that the repairs could be made, and agreed. Sadly, the twin room is not an equal replacement for the double. The beds made up together were not comfortable for us. We also missed breakfast the next 2 days of our stay because we were up and out of the house before 7:00 in the morning and had been unable to inform Mario of our plans. We very much enjoyed our time in the area, traveling to Capri, and taking the lift to the beach.

  • We very much enjoyed our stay with Mario. We had some confusion upon our arrival because we arrived by boat and Mario was kind enough to meet us at the dock and bring us to his house. We arrived earlier than our check in time and he graciously let us deposit our luggage which was very helpful. We had both guest rooms which were spacious, clean and well appointed, and the breakfast was generous and plentiful. Although it is a great location in terms of being in a quieter part of the city you must pay close attention to the train and bus schedule. Both are easy to access but they stop running at odd times and you can find yourself without public transportation ...cabs are VERY expensive! We would definitely recommend Il Pozzo Il mare.

  • Great location, two train stops away from Sorrento! Large, clean, well furnished bedroom and bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. Mario was very helpful and provided us with a detailed map on arrival. Overall enjoyed our stay at this B&B and really liked Piano di Sorrento, nice to get away from the busy crowds. Some great restaurants in the area.

  • My accommodation with Mario for three nights was great - huge room with a balcony with ocean views. The breakfast was plentiful and I was able to eat my breakfast on the balcony. The antique furniture was delightfully presented, fridge was stocked as a mini bar and shower was terrific.
The location is perfect as close to shops, supermarkets, bus stop and train station, walking distance to the beach but very steep to get down to the beach level although there is a lift.
If you are looking for accommodation away from the crowds and in a quiet location I recommend you stay with Mario.

  • I would not stay here again. He was nice but she couldn't even acknowledge us which is rude but whatever. There was no hand soap in the bathroom which I had emailed him to ask for some but he did not reply or replace the soap. The bath towel and hand towel which my husband and each got 1 were very thin and bare which we had to use for 4 days. Thank goodness they were thin so they dried fast. Asked if he knew of a taxi service or bus service so we could get to the train station with our luggage but he didn't help. aging to share one bathroom with others was torturous. One day we had to wait an hour to use the bathroom.

    Response from Mario:

    Hello Judy,
I'm sorry you have not been good at my house, for me it was a pleasure to have you as a guest!
I always try to be as friendly and accommodating as I can with my guests (I had never had someone complains of my ways .... even calling me rude!).
Each question is always well accepted, and I'm smiling as lifestyle!
If I can help my guests I do it with pleasure (when Judy came in Sorrento I went to pick her up at the station with my car, unfortunately when she left my house I was at work and I could not do more).
I provide two towels for each guest and the bathroom is normally equipped with everything you need (if something ends and I did not realize just ask me ......... the best and fastest way is to talk to me, do not send an email ... I live in the same house!).
I change the towels every three days (up to four days).
The bathroom (which I clean every day) is shared by two rooms, so it is shared between a maximum of four people .... I always ask my guests understanding and education, but sometimes I think it can happen to wait a little.

Always try to do the best for my guests!

  • I stayed here for 4 nights in the twin room. The room is large and had everything I needed including a fridge. The wifi is a bit sporadic but that was the case everywhere I stayed in Italy! The breakfast had a lot to choose from. Best thing is the location. A gorgeous little village with a gorgeous view of the sea (find the bar on the balcony) and only two stops on the train from sorrento. Only a 10min walk from the station too.
