The space
Our Waterfall Cottage is a 2BR/2BA vacation home within sight and sound of the iconic Cane Creek Falls. Large screened porch, wood-burning fireplace, WiFi and more on Cane Creek. It is located in the very unique and special location inside the several hundred acre Glisson Camp and Retreat Center (United Methodist Church owned) There is a small enclave of privately owned cottages, which are accessible at all times. Ours is the second one downstream of the falls. A large screened porch with dining table and comfortable seating area and other viewing areas will give you the sense of really being with nature as the cottage is about fifty feet from Cane Creek. Lots on either side are vacant and Falls Mountain is behind the cottage. It has two bedrooms, one with a king bed and one with a queen bed and two full baths, wood-burning fireplace (operational October through March) & we supply the initial wood, free WiFi, Smart TV, DVD player & DVDs, land-line phone with unlimited USA long distance (cell service is spotty), lower covered deck with porch swing. Breakfast is not provided, but we do provide coffee and all the basic needs for cooking. There are no dishwasher or laundry facilities. We provide camp chairs for you to take to sit by the falls. We have a BBQ and provide charcoal. Cane Creek is a designated trout stream and is now open year-round, but you must have a valid Georgia license to fish. We use the Waterfall Cottage as our own get-away when not rented and thoroughly enjoy spending time there. There are hiking trails all around the camp and maps are located on signs at the welcome center and downstream of the cottage, and you can also check out our hikedahlonega web site that has numerous other hikes / waterfall hikes listed with maps and directions . The falls area is rich in history as a Native American gathering place with netting holes and petroglyphs etched in the rocks by the falls. It is also the site of a very early large water wheel electric generating plant. Much of the time you will find the cottage to be a very quiet and peaceful get-away. The camp does have retreats many weekends, but the main buildings and their cabins are not located near our cottage with the exception of the Program Center, which was designed after the gold mining structures of Dahlonega’s history.

It is about 5 minutes from the Dahlonega Square.

My wife Dianne and I love to travel and entertain, so it was a natural for us to get into the hospitality business in 2007. We ran and owned Long Mountain Lodge B and B plus several unique vacation rentals for 15 years, but sold the lodge in July 2021. We love Dahlonega and all it has to offer. You will too! We have also owned restaurants, bakeries, antique and rare book shops. We love to hike (see our web site www.hikedahlonega), cycling, canoeing and theater. Our son-in-law, Don McElliott, helps us with the cottage. Our favorite places to visit are the Adirondack Mountains, Maine, Ireland and Austin Texas.
