NEW BATHROOM INSTALLED !!!!
Come, stay and play in 'The Street Where Originality Lives.' Adidas have recently filmed two adverts here. Hackney Wick is an industrial area brought to life by the capital's creative community of artists, designers, fashionistas and musicians.
My loft is in a converted factory and a two minute walk away from the train station. It's an ideal base for sampling East London's markets, fashion, art, graffiti, galleries, food and nightlife. Central London is less than 20 minutes away too.
Dalston is 7 mins away
Shoreditch 19 mins
Camden Town is 15 mins.
Kings Cross St Pancras is 20 mins
Oxford Street is 25 mins, Piccadilly Circus 30 mins
It's 5 minutes to Europe's largest Shopping Centre in Stratford and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park if you want to go for a swim in the beautiful new pool.
My home has an open plan, multi-use feel and is bright. Space 1 is the living, eating quarter, it's cosy and has a sleeping area at the back, a double bed and another double bed above on a mezzanine. Space 2 is the creative room, it has an office area, and a second double bed. There's a large open space to make and create (photography, art etc) or stretch and do some yoga.
Our COMMUNITY is a creative, unconventional one, what Steve Jobs refers to as 'the misfits, the square pegs in the round holes, the people who see things differently.' Victoria Park is a five minute walk away as is the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the river is one minute. Both have great cafes and play areas. Hackney Wick is like a village, its quiet, everybody knows one another, we have cafes, a theatre, wine bars, restaraunts and a couple of supermarkets.
If you are seeking adventure, romance, nature, culture, difference or want a unique experience, come to the Wick.
TRANSPORT LINKS are excellent, the Overground station is two minutes away, buses are five minutes away and London's Bike Hire scheme is available at the edge of our Victoria Park. Central London is easily accessed.
The East is without doubt the hippest, friendliest place in London, it has an edge and a myriad of cultures and communities to sample. There is a phrase, Tired of London - Tired of life. This City is unique...it has everything and there is a harmony found in the edge. Come - Share - Experience - Thrive and Smile....
Computer Wifi and telephone
Towels / linen/ toiletries, hair dryer / iron
Great set of pans (please use wooden utensils)
cupboards filled with coffee. tea. rice, pasta, herbs, etc
Threre's a toilet and a shower in my space and there are also two other toilets and a power shower which are communal.
Me - I have been exhibiting art and working with community groups for 15 years. I work with recycled materials. I also write - I'm currently writing a novel about the area and I've traveled extensively. I believe life needs to be lived moment to moment and the deepest joy is always found in the simplest of things...the scent of a flower, a smile, the sound of the birds singing or seeing the fox at night in the park.
If you need help with your travel plans or have any other questions or curiosities please feel free to get in touch...
I always meet guests and I will introduce you to the loft and the area.

Russell's loft is spacious, quiet, clean and close to overground station. Hackney Wick is a very intersting place full of art, young people but also quiet and safe. With my wife and two sons we spent some delicious days. Grazie Russel, grazie HWFI.
We spent 4 nights in Russel's loft, with our 2 children of 16 and 13 years old. The loft is very comfortable, decorated with taste and very quiet! The kitchen is well equipped, the brand new shower works very well and everybody slept like babies.
The area can seem surprising but we really felt at ease in Hackney Wick.
And Russel is kind and helpful. He waited for us at station (5 min from the loft) and gave us information about shops and restaurants.
Perfect stay for the 4 of us!
Russell was hospitable and friendly, he showed us around the apartment and recommended us a great cafe. He was really thoughtful and had extra pillows, towels and even slippers! I highly recommend his lovely apartment to anyone looking for an exciting stay.
Russell apartment it´s very confortable. Everything is very clean and organice.
It´s only 2 blocks from the overground so it´s very easy to travel around the city.
Russell was waiting for us in the station (thanks for the pacience), he was very helpful with everything we needed to know.
Very good experience!
We had a fantastic stay at Russell's flat. It was a very cosy and comfortable place to stay after a long day of adventures in London with our 3 year old son. A very unique and wonderful little place in a very vibrant neighbourhood. Hackney Wick is a very artistic and unusual place with a great deal of interesting history.
Russell was a great friendly host too. He was full of great recommendations and hints and tips on travel, places to see and places to eat. He answered all of my many annoying questions with great speed and clarity.
Thank you again Russell for a lovely stay. Give me a shout if your ever in Edinburgh.
All the best and kindest regards,
Kuba, Noah and Emma :-D
Although we had an annoying problem with the shower, we had a great time in London and we liked the appartement. It was nice that the overground station was so close and that there was a shop there as well, to get what we wanted!
Vielen Dank Russell!
I booked Russel's loft primarily as a place to shoot fashion editorials for my magazine. Russell is a lovely host and great communicator. His apt was clean, comfortable and just one flight of stairs to walk up. I did have a wheelchair-bound model and when the art gallery Russell suggested on the first floor wouldnt allow us to shoot there, I was able to have her hair and makeup done and shoot her at the restaurant in the White Building across the street,. They had delicious pizza and were really kind so I'd recommend you check them out (make reservations). The flat was a great choice as it had an amazing!!! rooftop, as well as good light in the apt itself. The shared shower in the hallway was a bit tight and a bother when I wanted to use it and someone else was already in, but the new shower that Russel is installing directly in his flat looks well on it's way to completion, so not much of an issue. I would def recommend this listing, unique, versatile and transportation just around the bend, as well as situated by the canal and park. You can't go wrong, esp as Russel is so kind and accommodating.
I spent a wonderful time with my friends in Russell's peaceful appartment. The flat is very close to the Overground. Hackney Wick is a vibrant and intriguing neighbourhood to discover. Russell provided us with the good addresses and very useful tips for our trip!
We had a fantastic time at Russell's apartment, it was perfect for our short stay in London and Hackney Wick is a great area. Russell met us promptly near the apartment, showed us everything we needed to know including some great places for breakfast the next day. Thank you so much Russell for your great hospitality!
