Pau is a lovely peaceful little village - essentially Catalan, but with an interesting mix of other nationalities to make it unique in this area. We have the mountains on our doorstep, with marked walks to St Pere de Rodas, 'Creu Blanca', and many other routes. The nearest beach is 10 minutes by car, and the country lanes are perfect for cycling. Eating is another adventure...!

The experience was great, I enjoyed meeting Nigel and Liz. They had lots of resources on what to do and see in the area, and their home is really beautiful. Breakfast was great and Nigel's directions by car from Barcelona were perfect! Pau was exactly what I hoped for: a small, quiet village close to everything else. I highly recommend the area for walking, eating, beaches, and this was a great base. I'd stay again.

I had a wonderful stay with Nigel and Liz - I wish I could have stayed longer and enjoyed more time with them! They are very kind, accommodating hosts. The description of the room is accurate, I have no complaints! The home itself is beautiful, clean and has a positive energy. I look forward to coming back!

Most prompt and professional response I've ever received from an airbnb host. Nigel and Liz were so accommodating with my last minute travel plans and my late arrival. So so sweet. Made me feel right at home.

I had a wonderful stay with Nigel. The house and room were very neat and comfortable. The location is excellent. There is no shortage of things to do during the day as Pau is only 10 minutes by bus to Figures and Rosas. Nigel is very helpful in suggesting interesting events and locations in the surrounding area. After a long day visiting the beach or Dali museum, you can relax and enjoy a quiet dinner set against the rolling hills of Catalonia.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Nigel and Liz are a very lovely couple who share the beautiful Casa Rural with their warmly welcomed guests.. The charming little Cottage is in the heart of the old and well preserved calm and peaceful village Pau. We felt very comfortable from the beginning when we were introduced into the house and our room. Everything was well prepared, clean and well organised but still there was a cozy personal atmosphere. Also we enjoyed the little chats with our lovely hosts a lot and would have missed a few hidden gems of the area without their recommendations! They are uncomplicated open trustworthy and unobtrusive nice people. A big and lovingly prepared breakfast included in the price. We were served coffee and tea, fresh orange juice, pastry, fruits, joghurt, granola, english marmelade and spanish ham.. All in all we are very happy that we luckily found accomodation at Liz' and Nigel's and we can really recommend their place if you wanna explore a bit the area around Cadaquès..

This gorgeous village and wonderful dwelling were just what i was after. Conveniently located between Figueres and the tourist mecca of Roses (and Cadeques) everything was accessible, even for those without car. If you wan access to everything by day and escape by night, then Pau is the place to be. Nigel and Liz were wonderful hosts and I could've further extended my stay way beyond the extra day I did. I stayed four nights in total. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed my stay at Liz's and Nigel's place. I stayed at blue room, which seems to be perfect for a solo traveller. And the fact that the price included a well prepared proper breakfast – superb. There might not be much happening in the village itself (which is what I was actually looking for) but the surroundings have so much to see and do you are bound to run out of time to see it all. Nigel and Liz are both very welcoming hosts and I only wish I could've stayed longer than just one night.

Nigel User ProfileNigel is a superhost.

We are a married couple who are both qualified English Language teachers. Our home is a registered Casa Rural. We have been on Airbnb since 2012. We came to the live in Pau from London in 2011, but before that we used to come for summer holidays with our children. So we know the area very well and love it! We would be happy to share with our guests special places to visit and favourite restaurants.
