Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • My partner and I stayed at Tama's for three days in March, and I am happy to give her place my highest recommendation. The room was absolutely spotless and extremely thoughtfully set up; good lighting, extension cords for phones and computers, the cute bistro table perfect for private breakfasts in the room, etc. Speaking of breakfast, it was a great cost- and time-saver to partake of her juices, espresso, yogurt, cereals, etc before heading out to the streets of NY for the day. Back to the room: the furnishings and fresh paint made it nicer than many in boutique hotel that might cost two or three times as much per night. (Sure, most of the closet and drawers have stored items in them, so that's different, but I didn't find that to be a problem at all.) There was no smell of harsh cleaners but rather lovely smells of lavender and cloves, not to mention an air filter for optional use. The bathroom is new and luxurious (heated towel rack, great shower head, light dimmer, etc). The bed and bedding were extremely comfortable (note: I like firmer beds) and the room is very quiet, facing the back courtyard of the complex. Tama is very laid-back, friendly, and helpful. (We hardly interacted with Nancy, but she seemed so as well.) It was also lovely to be greeted by little Leonard, who is sweet but also quiet and well-behaved (which I mention in case this is of concern to anyone). The building is very secure and the neighborhood felt entirely safe to me. It is a very short walk short to the 1 train, which can get you anywhere on the West Side very quickly and easily. Getting to the East Side takes a bit more doing - a bus or a longish walk - but even on a chilly day it's hard to complain about walking across Central Park. For those of you who care about parking: it's quite easy to find a spot within a few blocks, especially if you are willing to either move your car at 8am or find a spot that will be safe from street cleaning for a couple of days in the mid-morning (before they are all taken again). Because we arrived in the evening and weren't willing to get up the next day at 8am, we parked for the first night in a garage on 153rd (I think) for about 14 bucks and then re-parked and forgot about the car for the rest of our stay. A terrific experience all-round.

  • My experience at Tama's was top notch, from the warm greeting when I arrived, to the impeccably appointed room, to the delicious coffee on offer in the morning. The room is very well set up, and the en suite bathroom meant that there was a sense of privacy. Tama's tips on neighborhood eating spots were great too! I feel lucky to have stayed there, and hope to return soon.

Only two blocks away from the subway station and is very convenient. Tama is a very nice host, and Leonard is the cutest dog ever!! I will definitely want to stay at Tama's again next time I visit NYC, and would recommend her place to anyone who is looking for a nice and comfortable stay.

  • This was my first Airbnb experience and it was amazing. The room was spacious, calm, with nice interior and very clean. The bathroom was well furnished and convenient. Breakfast was really delicious and absolutely varied.
The house is just a few minute walk from the subway and very close to the Hudsen-River. We felt pretty safe, even after dusk.
Tama, Nancy and Leonard were great hosts. We could always ask for advice and they were always very friendly.
I can utterly recommend Tama's home and I'd definately come back.

  • Excellent stay. The room and apartment are exactly as advertised. Tama's attention to detail is impressive (as evidenced in her description of the place). I was comfortable, knew my questions would be answered—and many of them anticipated. A very easy home to feel at home in.
