  • Giorgio and his team were very nice to communicate and deal with. The building is an old palazzo away from the hustle and bustle of Rome's streets, so it's nice to get some peace and quiet when going back to rest. However, this is not someone's personal home, but rather a hotel-like business, so for those looking for something more personal and AirBnB-like, they might be disappointed at the IKEA-style furnishings and impersonal decor. We were also quite surprised that we were asked to pay taxes and late check-in fee upon arrival, even though all monetary transactions should take place on AirBnB at booking time. Giorgio said that this was stated on their listing (the tax fee actually was not) but he did not insist on having us pay this since we did not expect this fee. The Monti neighborhood (10 min by foot) is adorable, and less touristy than most of Rome.

    Response from Giorgio:

I would like to thank you for having taken the time to share your comments regarding your stay at the Orange Apartment in Rome a few days ago. We value our guests' opinions and any feedback, good or bad, is always most appreciated. We are very sorry that on this occasion your experience was a negative one. We are committed to learn from your feedback in order to further improve our services in the future.

Please let us assure you that all our locations have the same rental policy and we strive that all information, including those regarding possible city taxes and additional fees, be clearly communicated in 'house rules' section and/or on reservation vouchers. However, we will attempt to make those information even more visible from now on. Your experience suggests that on very rare occasion those details may still be missed in the current format.

Additionally, we are sorry to hear that you did not appreciate our conscious choice to mix old-style furniture with more modern and casual pieces as part of the apartment décor. We believe that a mix of old and new is ubiquitous in Rome and we try to reflect this atmosphere in décor of many of our locations. We hope that this aspect of the apartment was accurately conveyed in the extensive photo-coverage available on apartment listing, which you no doubt pursued prior to your stay.

In summary, we accept and appreciate your comments. It is a good reminder that there is always room for improvement, despite over 200 very positive reviews on Airbnb.
Finally, we thank you for the pleasure of hosting you and for leaving the apartment in a perfectly tidy condition. We would be happy to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future.

    Yours sincerely.
    Giorgio

About
I love active life and I try to maximize the time I spend outdoors, which is not too difficult in the Italian climate! In free time, I love traveling and discovering new places. When in Rome I like spending time with my girlfriend and friends exploring beautiful parks of Rome by bicycle, climbing, or just having a glass of wine in good company. I take every opportunity I have to visit exhibitions of contemporary art, or listen to good live music. I studied arts and tourism and worked for a large airline for quite some time. But I only found myself as an entrepreneur – I love my job! It gives me the chance to meet people and hear their stories. It also reminds me of how amazing a life of a traveler can be. The best quote I've encountered: "I love people who can make me laugh, when I don't even want to smile"
