  • Mary was a great host and the cottage was perfect for our needs. It is remote enough to be able to do some lovely country walks from the front door but still relatively easy to drive into Westport town centre. Mary was very chatty and friendly and able to provide us with advice and recommendations which were really helpful. We had a great 3 night stay here and would recommend to anyone.

  • This property was absolutely stunning, and incredibly relaxing. Mary was such a friendly and attentive host, she made our stay so comfortable and we felt very well cared for. My friend and I spent amazing mornings walking through the woods on the property, feeding the adorable ponies, and playing with Mary's three sweet little dogs. We spent four days in the cottage, and we will be recommending it to anyone looking to visit Westport! Thank you so much Mary for all your kindness, it was definitely a five-star vacation!

  • Gorgeous little cottage outside of Westport, just what we were looking for in a romantic winter break with hot stoves, stunning scenery, cute dogs, chickens and eggs and freshly chopped wood!

  • This is absolutely the perfect place to stay if you want to get a break from urban life. The hosts are really nice and open-minded, we instantly felt welcome and received great suggestions what to do in the area (hiking, cycling, etc.).

It's a nice little farm close to Westport with three funny dogs, and some other animals. The cottage is really cozy with a fireplace and an open kitchen. It's absolutely quiet and relaxing.

Would definitely recommend to go there!

  • My girlfriend and I spent an enjoyable weekend in Mary's cottage. It's located in a beautiful spot next to a little river and we enjoyed meeting all of her family's animals - dogs, ponies, and the chickens who courteously provided eggs for breakfast! We slept very well and spent the evenings relaxing by the fire.

  • We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay on this beautiful property. It is ideally quiet without being too remote. Mary and her family are lovely and welcoming, and they really made sure we had everything we needed. They took time to give us great tips on places to see and things to do. The cottage is very comfortable, cosy and tastefully furnished. Mary has definitely put some effort into filling the bookshelves with interesting books, touristic brochures and CDs. We (especially our two year old boy) enjoyed the company of the horses, hens and dogs. We would (and have!) recommend Mary's cottage to our friends and can't wait to stay there again!

  • Mary is a great host, very attentive in ensuring that everything is working correctly and that her guests are comfortable and having the experience they came for. We had a lovely time; walking the river, talking to the horses, playing chicken, walking the dogs, warming up by the fire and sleeping in a comfortable cosy bed. Conveniently located for exploring Louisburg, Westport and everything in between. Achill is only an hours drive away. We'd stay again when we next visit.

  • If you are looking for a tranquil, rural escape this is the place for you. And if like me, you hit the jackpot, and get a week of blue skies and sunshine, you wouldn't want to be anywhere else. The house is very clean and comfortable, and comes with its own garden, complete with picnic bench by a river. The wooded island really is very beautiful. The hosts were very friendly, hospitable and full of recommendations and tips about the many local attractions. Mountains, beautiful beaches and Westport are all just minutes away. They even put off cutting the grass because they didn't want to disturb my reading by the river!, and it was a pleasure waking up to fresh eggs every morning. Highly recommended!

  • Wonderfully quiet, idyllic and peaceful setting and a cosy comfortable little converted shed with three very friendly dogs to play with. We loved it!

I am a classical French Horn player and I moved from Dublin to the West of Ireland recently. I have a great quartet who travel regularly to the West to perform and work with young people. I also have a Horn/Harp duo and we perform at various functions and concerts. I love the outdoor life which includes attempts at running every morning through the beautiful local woodlands here. Also short rows on our river, trampolining, sailing and swimming in the sea with my two lovely girls. I sought the quiet life after a hectic city lifestyle and found this dream home. This location is a perfect silent and friendly place to travel from and explore all outdoor pursuits.
