Excellent house and service! Beautiful surrounding and garden with lot's of flowers. The fireplace was very nice in the evening, very comfortable and nice to look at. We loved the books in the house and good to have some real Irish music. Westport and the nearest supermarket are 5 km away. We had a nice walk around from the house, maps were inside the house. Nice view of the area. Mary is great, very friendly and full of energy. She arranged some food and drinks as we arrived in the fridge and some fresh flowers. Stay over, it is a great place!
Our stay at the Riverside Cottage exceeded all our expectations. Upon our arrival we were greeted by our lovely hosts, Mary and Eamon, whom advised us on the local area, restaurants, points of interest etc. Soon-after we settled into our beautiful surroundings. The cottage is tastefully decorated in keeping with its location and is spotlessly clean. It has all the utensils and appliances you could want with a good shower, comfortable bed and a fabulous wood burning stove.
The key to the cottage is the sense of serenity it offers while still only a short distance to Westport town. It is a real gem and for those whom might have any problem unwinding this is the place for you! I couldn't recommend it highly enough!
The cottage is wonderfully quirky; cosy, private and thoughtfully equipped with everything you could need. We received a warm welcome from Mary and Eammon and the three sweet doggies. They are fantastic, interesting hosts, keen to offer tips on things to do, but also to give us our space to relax and enjoy our very own retreat. Westport and the surrounding county are wonderful and well worth exploring if you want to. We loved getting out and about for the day then coming back to light the wood burning stove, cook a meal and just enjoy the surroundings. It is a gem of a place and we hope to return.
L'accueil est très chaleureux , le site est agréable à proximitede WEsport et de la côte
Merci à Mary pour sa disponibilité et son empathie .
We stayed at the cottage for 6 nights and received a very warm welcome from Mary and Eamon. After a long drive it was lovely to have milk for tea and a big bar of chocolate as well as fresh eggs, bread and butter. The cottage is really well equipped with everything you could need for a great stay. The bed is really comfy and the cottage is really cosy when the fire gets going. We availed of the free range eggs which were amazing. The land around the property is beautiful for woodland walks and there are 3 lovely friendly dogs on site too. We had dinner at 2 of the local pubs The Shebeen and The Terrace and both meals were beautiful much higher standard than usual pub grub. The cottage is a short drive into Westport, close to the cycle track, close to Croagh Patrick and also very easy to navigate your way to Connemara from. The only noise is the birds singing and the wind in the trees a... truly refreshing holiday we love to do again
Mary and Eamon were great hosts. The cottage is on a beautiful property next to a river. It was very comfortable and we cooked most of our meals there. On the property were several small, very friendly dogs, a horse, and several hens. Mary even gave us fresh eggs upon our arrival. She also gave us great suggestions about places to go. But the cottage was so peaceful and quiet and comfortable, we enjoyed just hanging out there as well. We are hoping to go back in the near future. Linda and Steve
About the Host, Mary
I am a musician, I'm from Belfast and I moved to the West of Ireland recently. I love my music and love performing at various functions and concerts.
I love the outdoor life which includes attempts at running every morning through the beautiful local woodlands here. Also short rows on the nearby river, trampolining, sailing and swimming in the sea with my two lovely girls. I sought the quiet life after a hectic city lifestyle and found this dream home.
This location is a perfect silent and friendly place to travel from and explore all outdoor pursuits.
