Mary's place was pretty great. Upon arrival we were greeted immediately and given a short tour of the place. Inside there were a ton of notes written so you didn't have to go over to the main house to ask questions about every little thing. The barn had most of the essentials. Property was amazing, this alone would make us seriously consider staying again if we ever get the chance to return to Ireland. Only issues we had, which were all pretty insignificant, the shrubs along the road leading up to the house need to be trimmed. We didn't want to take our car into town because the vegetation was scratching the car on the way in. There were quite a few bugs in the barn, mostly spiders and centipedes. The bed was a little uncomfortable, but it was a true king sized bed. Overall we had a nice, relaxing 3 days on the property.

A lovely rural retreat with very kind hosts. The stove was lit on arrival with groceries supplied to start us off. We had an enjoyable stay.

Mary and Eamonn were great hosts from booking right through to check out! Communication was clear and easy and the property was incredibly homely and just as described! A perfect base for climbing Croagh Patrick and very handy to have the bikes there to cycle the Greenway! Would fully recommend for a weekend away in the Westport area!

We had a lovely and relaxing time at Mary‘s place. Mary and Eamon were really good host, made us feel welcome and helped out with anything that came up. All the info about the cabin and getting there and away was perfect too. The cabin is super comfortable (great bed and small cosy bedroom) and nice, it has a small well functioning kitchen, a fireplace, a rocking chair (!), an extra bed, couch and TV/radio, plus a clean and good bathroom. We loved making a fire in the mornings and evenings and reading from the carefully chosen selection of books she has made available. The surroundings are like a little paradise. A lake in the woods, just next to the cabin. We borrowed two bikes and enjoyed a bike ride next to the sea and into the outskirts of Westport, in the evening sun. We slept like babies in the quiet. We got to know the dogs and the two horses too. I don‘t even like dogs that much but these somehow got past my filter and I loved them. I hope to be back some day with a car so we can explore the surrounding area better. One thing I would like to remind the non-gas experienced guests of: Remember to turn off the gas on the stove/oven if you use it!!

We had a nice stay. We loved the outside area and fire place. It's secluded, but still close to Westport. Mary is a great host who makes sure you get what you need.

Mary User ProfileMary is a superhost.

I am a musician, I'm from Belfast and I moved to the West of Ireland recently. I love my music and love performing at various functions and concerts.
I love the outdoor life which includes attempts at running every morning through the beautiful local woodlands here. Also short rows on the nearby river, trampolining, sailing and swimming in the sea with my two lovely girls. I sought the quiet life after a hectic city lifestyle and found this dream home.
This location is a perfect silent and friendly place to travel from and explore all outdoor pursuits.
