Fall asleep to the sound of the Pacific Ocean waves after watching seals, otters, countless bird species, sunsets and even an occasional spouting whale from the hot tub. This is the downstairs only (2 bedrooms and 2 baths) of our beautiful, light, and spacious home which has an open floor plan and lots of natural stone and wood. It is in a stunning location where the Mad River meets the Pacific Ocean, between Arcata and Trinidad. Our home is on an acre of land, with the western boundary being the middle of the Mad River. Bring your paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes; or just enjoy a picnic in the yard by the river. Walking/riding trails and beach access are within a few steps or pedals. Easy freeway access and close to all amenities. Less than 10 minutes from Humboldt State University and Mad River Hospital. Ten minutes to Blue Lake Casino and Cherae Heights Casino. Five minutes to Beau Pre Golf Course and ten minutes to ocean fishing (clams, crabs, salmon, bottom fish, etc.). Jeff even fly fishes for steelhead behind the house in the fall! This is truly a special place in the heart of redwood country! Our kids have moved on, so you can move in! Prices listed include local taxes and standard cleaning fees. Looking forward to sharing our special place with you.

Beautiful house in a beautiful location. We brought our kayak and were able to put it in the Mad River just in front of their house (down a staircase and then a short walk). At low tide we crossed the Mad River and enjoyed the beach/dunes that separate the river from the ocean. The kitchen was well stocked and the house was very comfortable. We will definitely be back.
I wish we could have stayed longer at Diane' s place. Diane is friendly, helpful but non-obtrusive. The house is well-kept and decorated and has gorgeous views of the river and the ocean, waking up watching the birds flying in the morning light is the best way to start a day! I would love to go back.
We had a great time in Diane's house. Everything was as described, clean and perfectly located.
The communication with Diane has been easy and I can't thank her enough for having been available and friendly late at night when we stupidly locked ourself out of the house!
We would definitely come back.
Diane's home is beautiful with a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and would highly recommend staying here.
The pre-stay communication with diane was very helpful. The house was immaculate with ocean views from every window. The kitchen was especially (website hidden) was open to the living room with big ocean views and had everything we needed to cook our thanksgiving turkey. It really exceeded our expectations and we would stay there again.
Lovely home, amazing views. My family and I found Diane's home very welcoming and comfortable. I would highly recommend.
I stayed here at the end of a long bike ride through Humboldt County. The house is in a quiet area, with views as good as the pictures. Diane was a very gracious host. I would stay here in again in a heartbeat.
We loved our stay! The house, view, and outdoor space are even better than the photos. A wonderful surprise. The hot tub with a view of the sun setting on the Pacific, and the magical backyard, which runs down to the shore of the Mad River, both highlighted our stay. There were only two of us staying; next time we intend to share it with good friends and family. The large kitchen, yard and living spaces are perfect for it. Diane and Jeff were very helpful and friendly. Perfect space.
