HELP A CAT IN NEED!
I am looking for other cat lovers to rent my apartment. I foster cats for the Humane Society and rent my apartment out when I travel, or when I stay with my significant other on the weekends. It's possible that when you arrive in DC, there will be a some cats staying with you, depending on the needs of the Humane Society and where the cats are in the adoption process. As of 11/1/13 I have three super cute kittens staying with me until they are old enough to be put up for adoption.
There's also a chance I won't have any cats during your stay. If there are going to be cats with you, I will leave instructions for you in terms of their care (usually just food/water/litter) and I will make sure to send you details and pictures of the cats before you arrive. I've fostered many cats over the past year, and all of them have been super sweet and have gone on to find their forever homes.

ABOUT THE APARTMENT/NEIGHBORHOOD
This place is not a rental apartment, it's my home, so I am looking for renters who will treat it as they would treat their own house. Also, it's important to note that I do live here, which means that I keep clothes, etc in the apartment. Everything is put away and I leave a whole closet open for guests, as well as a luggage rack in the bedroom, so there is plenty of space for your stuff when you arrive.
My 1 bedroom/1.5 bath apartment is in the Southwest Waterfront neighborhood of Washington, DC. The bedroom has a queen bed, there is a pull out couch with a double bed in the living room. The balcony is spacious with plenty of room to unwind and even enjoy coffee or dinner al fresco. There is a jacuzzi tub in the main bath for relaxing. I provide clean linens and towels, of course!
The kitchen comes stocked with the following appliances, in addition to basics like olive oil, salt, pepper, etc:
•Small coffee machine
The apartment is one block from the metro (Waterfront - Green Line) and a mile walk to the National Mall (where the Smithsonian museums are), it's the perfect place to really get a feel for the city.
The Waterfront neighborhood is a quiet, residential area. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, including a fun burger joint or a waterfront watering hole. Prefer something more upscale? Station 4 is a good for a nice evening out. The neighborhood has a great, new Safeway grocery store a block away (with a Starbucks!), plus the newly refurbished Arena Stage theater three blocks away. For those of you interested in catching a baseball game, the condo is less than a mile walk to Nationals Stadium and the Navy Yard.
It's a quick trip on the metro to Capitol Hill, Chinatown, or a myriad of other cool, DC neighborhoods. Zip Car, Car2Go and Capital Bikeshare are all within a few blocks walk. I can provide you with a visitor parking pass if you'd like to bring your car and park on the street, it's usually pretty easy to find a spot. But, given the proximity to the metro, a car isn't needed. I'll also provide you with two Smart Trip cards so you don't have to pay extra ($1 each trip!) for paper metro tickets.
I recently renovated most of the condo in 2010, so it has a modern feel. It's located in a very secure doorman building, with internet and cable included. Shared washer/dryer in the basement -- I'll leave you a laundry card if you need it. I have a downstairs neighbor, so this isn't a party pad. But, it's a great place to explore DC.
The pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and is a real oasis in the middle of the city. It's a quiet spot for relaxing after a long day of site seeing. I will leave pool passes for you if you are here during the summer and want to swim.
This was our second stay at Lauren's place. This time 3 kittens entertained us. We had tickets to Arena Stage, just a couple of blocks away one evening. We easily met up with friends across the river in Arlington and Falls Church on other days. As it turned out, the Olympics started this weekend, so we had the luxury of following some events while playing with the kitten (we do not own a TV). The Safeway store across the street was an easy walk to pick up some soups and salads to help the budget with the other events we had planned.
The reservation was canceled 4 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We (three of us) had a really wonderful stay in Lauren's apartment. It´s in a very calm and safe neighborhood and just a few minutes away from the next metro and supermarket. And the Mall is just 15 minutes far by walk! We would definitely recommend to everyone who wants to live in a nice, clean, comfortable and well located apartment.
Unfortunatelly, we couldn't meet with Lauren, but her boyfriend kindly received us and told everything we had to know. In addition they were really flexible whit our check in and check out times.
Thanks again for staying with you! We enjoyed our stay a lot. The location is ideally situated, calm and still close to metro, supermarket, monuments and even the bike rental station.
We had a great experience! Lauren was very accommodating and easy to work with, and her condo was perfect. Just a couple blocks from the metro, a mile from The National Mall, it's ideally located and very secure. The condo itself is neat and tidy, the kitchen is easy to work in and the patio is nice for relaxing and people watching. We had a wonderful time and hope to visit DC again soon! We'll definitely be in touch to book again!
we thank Lauren for the use of her apartment. we are a family of 4 with a 13 & 18 sons. you'll have a lot of room to move around in her place with a nice little view from the balcony, was able to enjoy coffee every morning out there. we had a 15 minute walk to national mall and a 10 minute walk to nationals park. you'll have a clean, safe neighbour hood with a minute walk to safeway grocers. Lauren was out of town at the time but she has a boyfriend that gets a 5 star rating for the help he gives with all the questions we had asked day to day.
When I first arrived I was greeted by Lauren and she showed me to the place where we were staying, my first impressions was the place was modern and well cleaned. It was great to see that Lauren left us a handbook with all the information we needed to stay in washington including two metrocards which saved us a lot of hassle and money as paper tickets are a $1 more. Washington was only a 5 minute metro ride (which the station was only a 3 minute walk outside the place), Overall the place was great and I would recommend anyone to stay at Lauren's place if you are planning on going to Washinton D.C
Lauren was really accommodating so that we were able to rent her place although we arrived late in town.
The apartment is great, and pretty close from the NW part of the mall.
I loved having my breakfast on the balcony and the bed was super good. The only less good thing is the sofa bed is not super comfortable.
Thanks a lot Lauren for everything!
We had a wonderful stay in Laurens Apartment. It´s in a very calm and safe neighborhood and just a few minutes away from the next metro and supermarket. We would definitely recommend to everyone who wants to live in a nice, clean and well located apartment.
While we unfortunately never got to meet Lauren, her boyfriend Benjamin was extremely helpful at getting us situated into the apartment. The place was convenient since it only takes a 15 minute walk to get to the mall, it was spacious, and was in a nice neighborhood. I can't recommend this place highly enough for anyone wanting to spend some time touring in Washington DC.
