  • Amy is a wonderful host. She was very helpful and accommodating. Her place is super cozy and tucked away down a quite street. Great deal for San Francisco!

  • Amy's place was really amazing, beautiful and very quiet . It was on top of a hill and not too far from public transportation either. Amy herself was also a really good host one of the best I have had on air bnb, very kind and also helpful with things to do in the area, she let me use her guide book and gave me a map. I would highly recommend to stay here.

  • It was a pleasure to stay at Amy's. Her place feels like home and the room itself is very cosy and comfy. The house isn't within walking distance of the city centre but several bus lines stop right next door. Thanks for the tips on what to do in SF and for the early drive to the airport!

  • The bedroom and house were exactly as advertised and Amy was the perfect host for me during the chaos of searching for permanent housing in San Francisco. The neighborhood is very quiet yet still close enough to the heart of the city to serve as a launching pad for city exploration. Thank you Amy!

  • Amy's beautiful cottage is airy and full of light. Perched on a hill, the kitchen/living room area is on the top floor and has big windows, lots of sun and hardwood floors. The bedrooms are cozy, quiet, and tucked underneath. Another guest mentioned the "good vibe" and I have to agree. A peaceful minimalist zen like quality inside combined with planters and magical gardens outside.

Amy is delightful. Full of laughter and willing to share coffee, tea and other staples from the kitchen. A good communicator and clear about working out details and logistics of the stay. And Bendel, the cat is very affectionate.

I used public transportation or walked to where I needed to go and always felt very safe in this neighborhood. It's not in the middle of the swinging hipster scene but if you are looking for a peaceful place to rest and a lovely neighborhood to explore, you will love staying here.

  • Lovely home in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood. Amy is an affable, helpful host who seems to have thought of everything that a guest might need, even a compact key fob with a flashlight to aid in the navigation of the stairs leading to her home at night. Very comfortable bed.

  • Amy's cottage in the Bernal Heights district is a wonderful retreat. Fabulous vibe in her home and the area. Bernal Heights area is teeming with community gardens, funky streets made for wandering, and some very cool eating places. We use transit and once you figure out the buses, you can move around with ease. Sore leg muscles are just part of it all. There is a wonderful Italian restaurant just minutes away, on foot..and a really easy #67 bus back...(that means avoiding an up hill walk) Cortland is also a must visit area for eats and drinks and...stuff.

Amy is very gracious and a perfect host. You really must pay attention to her instructions on getting to the cottage, tho. It is all a bit convoluted. Having said that..we arrived via the airport, BART, Muni (bus) and not a hiccup.

  • Amy is great. She's super friendly and just let's you do your thing. I felt very at home and would stay there again.

  • Amy's (renovated) cottage is lovely - very much like a home, modern, comfortable and all around excellent. As was the experience of staying here - I really appreciated the detailed information prior to my arrival, Amy was great to talk to when our schedules crossed paths, and she was very helpful in general, and I made friends with her delightful cat!
For those not familiar with SF, the location is good for parking, which is a rarity (albeit, be prepared for hills - which you should be for anywhere in SF!). But it is obviously not the centre of town in case that is your expectation (it wasn't mine). Nonetheless, there are a number of good bus routes within a short walking distanct (phone number hidden) a bit furhter, the BART etc such that it is easy to get anywhere) and the very close Mission district is great for good food!
I would definitely stay in Bernal Heights, and with Amy again should the opportunity arise!

I live in San Francisco and work at a Silicon Valley technology company. I enjoy doing triathlons and yoga and spending time with friends and family. I am also on the boards of two bay area nonprofits. I have traveled to 36 different countries and am looking to grow that list even more! Some of my favorite destinations so far include: Costa Rica, Patagonia, Yosemite, Rwanda, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Mozambique, Peru and Bolivia. And then there's also Kenya, Swaziland, South Africa, Vietnam, China, Japan, Austria, Germany, India, and the Czech Republic! I am really excited about the transformation that AirBnB is bringing to travel; it is so wonderful to share your home and experiences with people from around the world.
