About This Listing
One of a kind rowhouse and secluded backyard in the center of city, close to both the convention center and downtown as well as great restaurants. Tastefully renovated with unique furnishings and fully equipped kitchen.
This is a spacious, two bedroom, unique townhouse in the historic LeDroit Park neighborhood. It is close to U Street, two blocks from the great new Howard Theatre, and three blocks from the Shaw Metro. It has many original finishes from its 1890 construction and is tastefully renovated and modern.
The townhouse has a washer and dryer en suite and a spacious, fully equipped, professional kitchen. The range and kitchen are ideal if you are staying longer and want to cook. The kitchen met the standards of a former top chef judge and 2014 AirBnBer. It has also hosted artists playing a sold out show at the nearby 9:30 Club.
The WiFi has a strong connection throughout the apartment. There is a 45" flat screen TV with a DirecTV connection and an abundant DVD collection. On the lower level, a recently designed half bath features Portuguese tile. In the master bedroom, the high ceilings accentuate the space of the king size bed, which has a comfortable mattress and plenty of bedding. The upstairs bathroom has a modern doorless shower with three heads. The second bedroom has a seated desk and workspace.
Lounge in the spacious patio, which features a pergola. On nice days, you can enjoy the weather in the hammock below.
Street parking is available and I have a permit that will allow you to park nearby. But why drive? It's a five to ten minute walk to the 9:30 Club and other nightlife in the heart of U Street. Happy to give recommendations on restaurants and nightlife suitable to all budgets. There is a Hertz pay as you go rental adjacent to the property and a Zipcar is a couple blocks away.
Each bedroom comfortably accommodates 2 people. More can fit on the two couches in the living room. Flexible with check in/check out unless someone has booked the night before or after the stay.
Other Things to Note
The price is whatever appears when you send the inquiry. I find it too complicated and time consuming to negotiate. Compared to a hotel the listed rate is an extremely good value.
Standard check in is after 3 pm and check out is by 11 am. If you want to arrive before then or stay later, please let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate.
Host was very welcoming. The neighborhood is great and close to a lot of good food, including Ethiopian food and Ben's Chili Bowl. It's a beautiful older townhouse, which is nice, but also means it can get cold. Space heaters, which were provided, were necessary when we were there (on one of the coldest weekends of the year).
Ethan was a great host. The place was neat and as described in the add. My family came to DC for thanksgiving and I hosted them at Ethan's row house. It was clean, spacious, and perfect for our needs. Ethan was prompt and left a very useful guide with instructions and things to do (he also emailed it prior to check in). Even though I live in the area, the guide was really useful tool for showing my family around DC. Thanks Ethan! we would totally book again.
Excelent place. We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was really nice and well equipped and organized. The neighborhood was also nice and close to everything, we even went walking to the national mall. Ethan was very friendly and available for anything we needed. Sure will come back!
Very comfortable and accurately represented home. Had all the necessities and more. "Truck" art was a trip. Big Bear cafe a few blocks away a great go to place. Ciao Ehtan--Richard
Ethan was friendly and helpful. Loved the house, location, Ethan's Pakistani artwork, and book collection! We all found the beds remarkably comfortable, and slept well. The neighborhood itself is a delight, and the Smithsonian Museums, White House, etc are within walking distance (minded you like to walk). If not, Metro stop is a 2 min walk away.
Great house in a fun location in DC. The house was well designed and decorated, with a beautiful backyard. Ethan was unobtrussive and made it easy for us to get in even though we arrived late at night. Would recommend.

About the Host, Ethan
Having grown up in the metro area and lived in DC for more than a decade, I'm a big fan of DC in general and LeDroit Park, my neighborhood, in particular. I'm occasionally abroad helping to provide US foreign assistance, though always available and responsive for my guests.
Happy to offer advice on the many things to do around town.
