Monica and Humberto were great hosts. Made us feel very welcome in their beautiful home. Offered us food, gave us a little walking tour around the neighbouring coffee farm, would definitely stay here again.
We had the house to ourselves for the first two days as Monica & Humberto were away. Their other son Olmo lives within the grounds & he & his family were very nice & looked after our needs. The house is very beautiful & with lovely grounds. The bedroom was very nice (bigger than the photo suggests) & the bathroom is right next door (because of the house lay out it's just as good as having an ensuite). It was lovely to have an open fire in the evenings.
Our visit to the Metzger home was one of the highlights of our visit to Costa Rica. Their home is beautiful, and our room was very comfortable, clean and peaceful. We felt amazingly welcomed from the moment we arrived - like one of the family! Monica and Humberto were gracious hosts, and we enjoyed conversing with them and members of the family so much. We loved walking through the surrounding coffee plantation, had a delicious dinner and breakfast, and just felt their genuine warmth and hospitality for our entire visit. We hope we will be able to connect up again with them. They are wonderful people.
This is a very charming house and yard just outside the village of Tres Rios. The Mezger family was very welcoming even though we had trouble finding it in the dark without a cell phone and didn't arrive until quite late. The room is son Teo's which he is renting out to help pay for schooling in Germany.
Our stay in Tres Rios with the Mezger family was absolutely wonderful! Their beautiful home was our first stop in Costa Rica and thanks to them we became much better educated on how to get around and function in the country (in fact, I wouldn't be able to write this review from my cell phone were it not for them helping me to get a Costa Rican SIM card purchased and set up for my phone!)
Not only is the family warm and welcoming and the house beautifully designed, but it sits in the middle of a gorgeous garden and next to large coffee farm that the family owns. They take nightly walks around the farm at sunset and we were invited to join them. Totally beautiful!
If we make a trip back to Costa Rica in the future (we hope so!) a stay with the Mezgers will definitely be included.
Our hosts were wonderful. They welcomed us as if we were family. Each day we set out for a drive to enjoy this beautiful country and each night we would share our adventure with our hosts... who would then give us more suggestions of what areas to go next. There was no pressure - no restrictions - we were made to feel completely comfortable and welcomed into whatever family event was in process for them. Monica enjoyed cooking and sharing her Costa Rican life with us and Humberto was always anxious to hear about our day and make suggestions of what not to miss. We enjoyed our evenings with them, as we recounted our travels of each day. It was difficult for me to say goodbye.. we have promised to stay in touch and hopefully to Skype at Christmastime.
Please consider staying with the Mezger family on your next visit to Costa Rica
