This is a very quaint, safe and beautiful neighborhood which borders on the Noe Valley, Diamond Heights & Glen Park neighborhoods. There are downtown views while walking in the neighborhood as well as a good cardio workout!
There are a few parks with children's playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts. Also within walking distance are two enclosed dog parks and The Canyon.
Supermarkets are nearby: (Safeway is 2 blocks away and Whole Foods is on 24th Street), banks, restaurants, parks, cafes, Saturday morning Farmer's Market, laundromat and quaint shops are all in the nearby neighborhood. One mile from the Castro. Click on my "guidebook" (upper right hand corner of my listing) to see my fave neighborhood spots to shop, restaurants, cafes, etc.
There are some very interesting homes and a hidden stair street a couple of blocks away.
Having a car is a plus here because of the driveway and the steepness of the hill but there is public transportation: the (#35) bus is a 1/2 block away, the (#24) is 1 1/2 blocks away and the J Church streetcar is 3 1/2 blocks away. The BART train is about a mile away, which goes to and from the airport, downtown and the Bay Area.
Linens, blankets, towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and a hair dryer are provided for my guests.
Thanks for your interest and feel free to contact me so I can answer any questions.

We spend Memorial weekend at Sara's. She's a perfect host, easy to do business with, caring and responsive. Her apartment is lovely, spacious, bright and very comfy. We enjoyed our stay very much. Very comfy bed and well-equipped kitchen, Wifi, TV, cable, really perfect. The location is great too, very quiet but driving distance from the places that we like: Castro, Missions. We walked to 24th street which has plenty of restaurants, coffee shops and a great bakery (near the post office). It's a 30 minute walk with ups & downs because of the hills but very enjoyable. There's a Safeway in Diamond Heights, 5 minute by car. Having your own parking place is definitely a plus, we appreciated it that. In summary, a great place, host and location. We'd like to come back.
Sara was incredibly helpful and welcoming and put a lot of time and effort into ensuring we had a great visit. The house was beautifully decorated and perfectly located for getting around. Overall we had a fabulous time. I would definitely recommend staying here.
The reservation was canceled 68 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Sara's cottage was perfect, it was exactly what we were after and it had everything we needed for a two-week stay. The cul-de-sac location was quiet and friendly. The views from the kitchen were really impressive and there was plenty of daylight shining in. Sara was an amazing host and gave us lots of local information and assistance for our vacation. We will definitely return again. Thank you, Sara!
It was great to meet Sara and stay at her lovely home at the top of the hill! Yes it is a tough hill to walk up (down is the easy part!) but once there, the location is amazing and it's actually very close to everything - I walked to 24th and the Mission in about 25 mins. In the morning, the views are incredible - would definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again!
Sara's apartment is comfortable and charming, on a cul de sac with a woodsy outlook and some Bay views. The location, near the Castro, Glen Park and Noe Valley, is excellent.
Sara is a thoughtful and considerate host. We're sorry we were unable to meet her, but were greeted by her friend, who showed us all we needed to know and was friendly and welcoming.
Sara's aesthetic sensibility permeates her home. There are orchids throughout the apartment, and many charming and quirky touches inside and out.
Everything was spotlessly clean. The bed is comfy, as is the rest of the furniture. We loved the sunken tub with two showers. There were plentiful towels and other linens.
We cooked in the kitchen, having the family over for dinner, and enjoyed several dinners alone. Sara's pots and pans are top notch. Sara made pantry and fridge items available for our use.
We had a delightful stay in Sara's lovely home, and we're glad she shared it with us.
Sara's house is located in Noe Valley neighborhoods near Castro and Mission District: The area is quiet and safe. It is better to have a car as the home of Sara is at the top of a hill. It is easy to park your car because the driveway is available just in front of the house of Sara. Sara is a wonderfull host, she was waiting at home with a basket of fruit and explained all the practical details of her house. She quickly answers all your questions. In the morning there was a beautiful light in the house who is facing east. We spend wonderfull vacation in SF at Sara's home. Thanks for all Sara.
We had the best time at Sara's place! She is a wonderful host - and her home is lovely. It was just the right size for 2 adults and an 8 year old. The back yard is beautiful, and it is a short hike to the top of the hill, which has the world's best view of the city. Sara is delightful and fun, and was a great host - she even provided us with our morning coffee. Take note - the hill is STEEP. You will want to wear walking shoes, and you will probably want a car. But it is an incredible home, and we would happily stay there again.
Sara's place was adorable. Perfect for a couple and toddler. We loved how cozy it was up on the hill among the treetops. Great location if you're visiting people in SF (as opposed to a more touristy agenda). The easy parking is an appreciated bonus traveling in SF with a kid and a car.
What a wonderfully, relaxing place Sara has :) I loved all of the sunlight that shined through in the mornings while we were eating our breakfast & enjoying our delicious fruit bowl given by Sara. The gorgeous view of flowers & greenery outside our bedroom windows made it feel like we were staying in the cutest little cottage in the woods :) A very quiet & soothing place to call home for a few days.
The place is very old, but everything seemed to work just fine-heat, water filters & bathroom shower heads were all very nice additions to her place that we appreciated. We also loved that she commits to recycling & composting. I was happy to see some antiques around too :) Sara's done a great job w/ not only the outside flowers & shrubbery, but the inside decorations were very fresh too! I used her 2 decorative lamps she has in the bedroom most nights-they gave off a very soothing glow :)
I really can't say enough good about her place, however, beware of the hill! She does outline it in her profile too. My boyfriend & I are 28 & 30; his mother that came w/ us too is in her 50's and had some trouble w/ the hill since we did not rent a car.
Over-all we had a wonderful experience and if ever we return to San Francisco, we will definitely be staying at Sara's place again =)
