A microcosm of London's shifting ethnic patterns, the area around Brick Lane in East London was once associated with poor slums and the scene of the crime for the Jack the Ripper murders. Whilst the notorious pub Ten Bells still stands, the area itself is now extremely popular with London’s edgy and artistic crowd, featuring galleries, restaurants, markets and festivals throughout the year.

The Old Truman Brewery at 91 Brick Lane houses a vibrant market where up-and-coming designers set up shop every Sunday selling a unique variety of clothes, handbags and jewellery. There are also vintage clothing stores and chic boutiques dotted around the area.

As a hub of London's Bangladeshi community, Brick Lane has always been famed for its many authentic curry restaurants. It now also has a reputation for its warehouse art exhibitions and trendy clubs and bars. So, before your East London experience is complete, be sure to head to the Vibe Bars beer garden or 93 Feet East (150 Brick Lane) which has become an East End institution well known for its eclectic mix of live music and intimate atmosphere.

A really vibrant area with so much to do when you are not busy out there shopping.

  • Nice and clean place, very well situated (city, e.g. Tower of London in walking distance, and close to several tube stations). Supermarket, eclectic restaurants, pubs and even a fantastic independent cinema opposite the street.
    Wi-fi didn't work at first, but Kaz was quick to help. Definitely recommendable - thanks for a great stay!

  • Nous avons sejournes une semaine dans cet appartement avec mon copain. Il est proche du metro, du bus et il y a un tesco juste en face. La chambre est propre et le matelas est confortable.

    Cependant la chambre donne sur un boulevard vraiment tres, tres, bruyant !! Le jour comme la nuit! Mieux vaux ne pas avoir le sommeil leger.
    Nous avons trouve aussi que la cuisine n'etait pas tres propre.

  • Great stay by Kaz!
    The room was really comfortable, warm and clean and the same was for the kitchen and the bathroom too (hot water available at any time).
    Very good location: safe area, just 5 minutes walk to the nearest tube station; there was a Tesco just on the other side of the street.
    The wi-fi was not available, but there was a good pub nearby, with free wi-fi.

  • We stayed 5 nights at Kaz flat. Kaz was really really nice .
    The flat and the room was clean. Very good located : Tesco, bus stop, tube and small fast foods very cheap . Noise from the street, but after a cold day touring :) a very good bed was perfect ... I hope to go back in Kaz house , Thank youuu

  • Cosy room in a great area, it's kind of tricky to find the place, but is well communicated with the center of London. Make sure to coordinate well your check in with the host. I recommended highly.

  • The room was nice and clean. The (multicultural) neighbourhood was safe and we were happy with the supermarket across the street, so we good buy fresh bread every morning.
    The other guests in the house were quiet en friendly, so that too was a good experience.

    Some negative points: it is a really noisy street. And by noisy I mean REALLY noisy. Especially at night you need earplugs to get some sleep. The whole night you hear lots of cars and at least five times a night there are ambulances (with siren) crossing by.
    Also we were out of toiletpaper for 1,5 day, which was not so comfortable.

  • A large room with a comfortable bed, desk and fast wifi just a few minutes' walk from Stepney Green Tube station and 20 minutes walk from Brick Lane & Spitalfields. There's also a Tesco across the street which is very convenient. The bathroom is large and the very friendly manager, Roxanna, comes to clean it often.

    The only downside I can think of is since you share the apartment with other guests, you may have to wait a while to get into the bathroom in the morning. The other guests can also be noisy, but the manager can't control that! Since the street is a bit noisy anyways, it didn't bother us too much. Overall a very nice stay!
