About me: I'm a very friendly and easy going host. I like to keep my place clean and comfortable. I'm very attentive to my guest's needs and like to share all things about San Diego.
Beautiful place, tons of sunlight, wonderful patio area to relax on. Space was comfortable and clean, lots of parking, easy to get to. Jim was super friendly, professional and accessible. Wish we had more than one night at his place. STAY HERE!!!
Jim's loft was extremely comfortable and stylish. We enjoyed it a lot. The ladder was a bit of an experience. He was also very accommodating to our hectic schedule
Had a blast here - we only stayed for one night but the place was just as described, Jim was always quick to respond and everything went really smoothly. Thank you!!
Jim was great and his apartment was very comfortable and clean with all the amenities you would want. There was great light in the apartment, clean towels/bedding for days, and he also left a bunch of healthy snacks in the apartment and offered them up when I arrived. (I probably should have made a Whole Foods run to replenish his sesame Cajun mix... Sorry bud :) Also the location was good and parking was easy.
All and all a great stay and very affordable.
Jim's Place was Great! Awesome location, It was close to everything. A short walk to the zoo, many great restaurants, Whole foods and much more. Couldn't have asked for anything better. It even had a nice porch to enjoy a cold beer on!
I had a lovely stay in Jim's unique modern loft apartment.
The apartment is genuinely spacious. The living room, kitchen, bathroom, and deck are beautifully decorated and have everything you need to enjoy your stay.
Jim's place definitely had a zen vibe to it, and no matter how busy my trip to San Diego was at times, I always felt refreshed after a night of sleep on the cozy loft bed. While I had no problems using the loft, you should be very careful when climbing up and down the ladder that leads to the bed.
The apartment was also very quiet. Neighbors seemed friendly and I never had a single noise issue with other tenants during my two week long stay. Plus, the apartment is on a quiet side street in Hillcrest which doesn't get much through traffic. There is, by the way, a garage below the building, but it wasn't available during my stay. But street parking was generally a breeze, though it can get crowded on the weekend (so try to park earlier in the day on Friday and Saturday).
Even though it's very quiet, the apartment is centrally located in Hillcrest and you're just a few blocks walk from some great restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. My personal faves: Amarin Thai (for dinner), Alias (for drinks), the Living Room (for coffee), Lalo's Tacos (for california burritos), and Mama Testa (for tacos). You can also quickly jump on Interstate 163 to get anywhere else in San Diego you need to be in 15 minutes or so.
Lastly, whenever I had a question or needed help with something, Jim (and Sonia) were very helpful and would respond within a few hours. They even stocked the fridge with a few basics before my arrival, which was very appreciated.
In summary, I had a wonderful stay... and I definitely plan to stay at Jim's when I return to San Diego.
The person actually hosting, Sonia, is lovely person and this apt/room is in a nice new building, and a generally good area albeit a busy/noisy area. More importantly you should know that to sleep you have to climb a 6-8 foot steel ladder, which is no fun. I slept on the sofa. I do not think "loft" accurately describes this so I believe it should be mentioned. As well, no cable tv and the internet for the apple tv is too slow to watch a movie.
Jim's apartment is a great place to stay in San Diego. Stylish, very clean, stuffed with all things you'll need and close to the San Diego Zoo and a few good restaurants and cafés. Easy communication, highly recommended! Many thanks to Sonia - she's managing the place while Jim is in India.
It is a delightful place to stay. Very close to everything and easy to get to by car. The bottom line I felt very much at home. That's what it's all about.
Jim's place was awesome! Perfect location on the border between Hillcrest and North Park. Great design and extremely easy to communicate with. Definitely recommend staying here if you are planning on staying in the area.
