About This Listing
The cabin has breathtaking views and is a great escape!
It can be challenging in the winter due to snow storms and having to use the wood burning stove to heat the cabin.
A 4WD vehicle is mandatory and it can be a two hour drive to Aspen in a storm
This beautiful cabin is located exactly 60 miles from Aspen and is butted up to the Aspen Snowmass Wilderness.
It offers a quiet solitude that is unmatched!
The cabin offers a priceless 270 degree mountain view with
hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, horseback riding and rivers and lakes to play in! It has a full kitchen with everything needed for a gourmet chef along with an outdoor weber gas grill.
The cabin is furnished by most of Barbara Walters log-framed furniture and cabinets.
The main floor has a bedroom with a queen size bed and the loft has a king size bed along with two down-filled couches that comfortably sleeps two people.
It has a antique claw foot bath/shower along with a separate toilet room. It has a huge dining room table and a full kitchen. The cabin is off the grid and is powered by a photovoltaic battery system along with a propane generator that automatically starts when the load requires it.
Downstairs has a recreational room with a pool/ping pong table and a sleeper couch.
There are a plethora of hiking/biking trails along with some great 4WD roads.
The last 2.3 miles to the cabin are a dirt road and we suggest a 4WD vehicle along with the ability to use a wood burning stove which is the only source of heat.
It has a large deck with a teak dining table for breakfasts, lunches and nice evening dinners.
Our guests have access to everything in the cabin
Interaction with Guests
I generally will open the cabin up and make sure everything is on and operational prior to there arrival
Very quiet and minimal traffic due to a private dead end road
You will need your own vehicle and a 4WD in the winter
Other Things to Note
It's a very quaint and beautiful escape!

A true-Colorado cabin experience. Off the grid is right-on. Nature was at our finger tips...humming birds buzzing by, wild flowers galore, hiking right out the door....and THAT VIEW! Off the charts. Scott had everything ready to go when we arrived. The cabin was packed full of great amenities. Awesome, highly recommend.
Absolutely amazing view. Pictures on the listing are exactly what you get. You definitely need 4wd to get in and out. We came in the winter and the road would've been impossible without. Make sure you arrive in daylight as the cabin is hard to find. There is no cell service, internet, cable so you will be isolated. You'll need to drive about 30 min to get cell service. Scott was easy to contact and very responsive before our arrival and had everything set up for us before getting there. We would have liked to contact him with a few small questions during our stay but it wasn't possible due to the lack of phone service. Wasn't a huge deal and beyond his control. The wood burning fireplace kept the cabin perfectly warm even when the temp dropped down to near zero degrees. We had a great time relaxing, looking out of the amazing views, hiking, playing ping pong, etc. The small town of marble is down in the valley below but the one restaurant is closed in the winter. Next town large enough for groceries and other amenities is over 45 min away in Carbondale. Great place to truly get away just come prepared with plenty of food and anything else you might need bc you won't want to have to drive in and out each day as it will be about a 2 hr roundtrip. Aspen was about 1.5 hrs away. It really is beautiful at the cabin. I can't say enough about the views. Stunning when it snows and you can look out of the large windows at the mountains around you and valley below.
Scott's cabin is fantastic! Stunning views, great access to hiking, biking, and solitude. Scott was incredibly easy to deal with and clearly loves his place; it's pretty awesome that he makes it available for folks to enjoy through Airbnb. 5 stars across the board. Thanks, Scott!
If you are looking to unplug for a while, this place is absolutely perfect. Hiking trails, wildlife, history, views, PURE silence (which is very hard to find these days), and views views views. We will be back.
Cabin was just as beautiful as seen in the photos. Great location in a nice private and quiet area with a priceless view. There are plenty of local trails ideal for day hikes and the cabin isn't located too far from larger cities that have all the supplies you need. The owner was very helpful in providing directions and recommended activities in addition to ensuring the cabin was open and ready before we arrived. We would definitely recommend this property and would thoroughly enjoy a return visit!
Cabin is situated on a ridge above the Crystal River Valley...you simply cannot get a better view. Very relaxing, quiet, and close to all things still wild in CO. Very much off the beaten path, and great for really getting away from everything. Most amenities are considered...there is no cell, net, satellite, etc service...so, the one big suggestion would be a landline, if possible, just for emerg, etc.
NOTE: We had a bit of an issue with mice...which is expected with a cabin like this...but, make sure you securely store any food, etc away.
