Tucked within it, The Cabin rests on its own secluded 1.5-acre stretch, offering a peaceful setting surrounded by water and trees. Once a simple fishing cabin, our family spent two years transforming it into a design-forward, luxury escape—created for connection, rest, and meaningful time together.
The Cabin is perfect for couples seeking a romantic getaway, families wanting to unplug and reconnect, or anyone looking for a peaceful place to work remotely. (If you’re traveling with another couple or a small group, there is an additional waterfront tiny home located on the other side of the property that can be rented together while still maintaining privacy—perfect for a shared getaway.)
The space was intentionally designed to make the most of every square inch, indoors and out, blending comfort, function, and thoughtful details throughout.
From the spacious deck—complete with dining space, lounge seating, and a fire feature—you’ll enter through large glass doors into the main living area. Expansive windows wrap the space, bringing in natural light and uninterrupted views of the water and surrounding trees, so the outdoors always feels close, even when you’re inside. Inside, you’ll find a fully stocked kitchen with generous counter space, bar seating for four, and a cozy living room with a sofa and swivel chairs centered around the wood-burning stove. It’s the kind of space made for slow mornings, quiet evenings, and game nights by the fire.
Down the hallway, you’ll find a full bathroom with a walk-in shower and rain shower head, along with a private bedroom featuring a queen Tuft & Needle mattress. Just beyond the bedroom is the hot tub deck, where your private 7-person saltwater hydrotherapy spa awaits—perfect for unwinding beneath the stars.
The 460 sq ft cabin was intentionally designed to maximize both comfort and function, making it an ideal space for 2 adults or a small family. The Cabin does sleep up to 4 guests, but please note that the secondary sleeping area is a small loft with limited headroom and is best suited for children. The only standard adult sleeping space is the main bedroom with one queen bed.
Step outside and you’ll find that the experience extends far beyond the interior. Set on a wooded peninsula where water wraps around the property, afternoons can include time on a fully stocked lake by kayak or pedal boat. The Coalmont consists of 4 acres, but The Cabin only consists of the 1.5 acres in the center: to the right of the driveway and to the left of the row of trees. A map will be provided prior to check in. This is the only part of the property that can be accessed during your stay. The Cove is another rental and is to the left of the driveway.
There are three parking spaces on site. A vehicle is required to navigate around Coalmont and surrounding areas. Most activities off of the property are at least a 10 minute drive, and ride-sharing is not available in the area.

1. Pricing note: Airbnb's service fee is already included in the price shown; there is no additional Airbnb guest service fee added at checkout.
2. Sleeping arrangements: The main bedroom has one queen bed. The additional sleeping space is a compact loft intended primarily for children, with limited headroom and a more confined layout. Please review the photos carefully before booking for more than two guests.
3. Inquire about our Romance Package, Private Chef Package, Photo Package, and Micro-wedding/Elopement Package!
4. We are unable to accommodate early check-ins or late check-outs. Due to the coordination of multiple properties on site, along with the level of care and attention our cleaning crew provides, the majority of the time between guests is used to make sure everything is ready for your arrival.
5. We encourage you to “unplug” at The Coalmont, so there is no TV, but if you wish to bring your laptop to work or stream a movie, we do have 1 gig high-speed fiber optics internet.
6. This property is in a wooded, waterfront location, which means you are out in nature! We keep our cabin very clean (check our reviews), but you may see wildlife in the yard and the occasional outdoor insect making an indoor appearance. If that makes you squeamish, this is not the booking for you!
7. We do not provide any fishing equipment, so if you plan to fish be sure to bring poles/bait, etc.
8. Kayaks and pedal boat are provided. Motorized boats are not allowed in the water.
9. Due to the remote location, most restaurants and attractions are at least 10-15 minutes away. Grocery stores are within 3 miles. Please plan meals accordingly :)
10. Thunderstorms, snow storms, or traffic accidents make it possible that you may experience a power outage during your stay. Sometimes it can take several hours to restore power. We provide flashlights! However, we do not provide refunds in these circumstances, as we recommend guests to purchase travel insurance for weather related events, etc.

12. Date change requests must be submitted prior to 30 days before the reservation. Date change requests submitted within 30 days will be treated like a cancellation and the cancellation policy will apply.

Coalmont is a small, rural town in Grundy County on top of the South Cumerland Mountains. 1 hour from Chattanooga and 1.5 hours from Nashville. Local attractions on the mountain include: South Cumberland State Park for hiking and waterfalls, including Greeter Falls, Fiery Gizzard, Foster Falls, etc (10-15 miles depending on entrance), Bigfoot Adventure TN Zipline (11 miles), Savage Gulf State Natural Area (12 miles), Cumberland Caverns (39 miles), Fall Creek Falls State Park (38 miles), Big Creek Lake (3 miles), Eagle Lake (6 miles), Ramsey Lake (5 miles), and many more! We are a family of 4 living in the great city of Chattanooga, TN, where we own and operate our photo/video business, Bandera Studios. We love to spend time with our 2 boys, Max and Leon. We like to travel, cook, and play music together. We designed The Coalmont to be the perfect retreat to get away and find rest and relaxation.
