Centrally located. Bus stop in front of the house. As our guests, you also have access to bikes for all of you. Even a tandem and a bob! Reykjavik is a wonderful city to discover by bike. We have a biking map and will help you around. We also have tools for those of you who need to fix your own bikes - as Dr. Bike is "living" in the house as well.
When you arrive there will always be fresh bread, juice, milk, coffee, tea, cheese and butter. So the first thing for you is just to sit down, make yourself a cup of coffee, a slice of bread and relax!
The apartment is in the basement of our home, 41 square meters. You have a private entrance, your own bathroom with a shower, a kitchen, a sleeping room where 2 can sleep and a living room with a studio couch sleeping 2. And there is a PlayStation 2 in the living room as well. There are linen and towels and free Wi-Fi as well!
A wonderful thing to do your first evening here is to go the pool! Our home is located only 500 m from the biggest public Swimming pool in Iceland - Laugardalslaug. There is also the main camping in Reykjavik, the Botanic garden and amusement for the hole family with Icelandic animals and farmings - Fjolskyldu- og husdyragardurinn.
The main sport area in Reykjavik is in the same area as well.
Some of Reykjavik´s main hotels are in the neighborhood so we are well connected with the fly bus and there are lots of restaurants, local shops, cinema, banks and other service all around us.
With the bike it will take you 6 min to be down town and you will bike this wonderful seaside promenade with scenic view of the sunset and the mountains - it will take you to Harpa - the new concert hall in Reykjavik, or - in the other direction - to Laugarnestangi, a uniquely quiet spot by the sea. For a perfect evening, you might want to borrow our fishing rod.
The bus stops right in front of our house, downtown Reykjavik is a 6-min. ride.
We live on the upper floor, so if there is anything you need - we will be there:-) We speak English, German, Dutch, Swedish, some words in French and Danish.
You are very welcome to our house. You will enjoy it:-)
We live upstairs in the house and we will welcome you when you arrive.
We have not enough words to tell Sesselja and her family how thankful we are for the warm welcome to their apartment. You guys made us feel like we were among family and definitely is the little details that count. Our daughter fell completely in love with Snnatti and the delicious icelandic treats, she wanted to stay there forever. We are looking forward to come back in summer, and this apartment will be on top of our list.
We stayed for about four days at Sesselija's home. My Two friends and I loved coming home to her house after our long day journeys. Her home felt like our home away from home. Her apartment had everything we need from in the kitchen to the sleep arrangements!!! Everything was just right and we would love to come back again in the future. Two great things just to note, We saw the northern lights from her back yard. Snatti, the dog was the best and i wish he could have come home with us!
What a great find! Sesselja's home was as warm and friendly as Sessy herself. An amazing spot for exploring the city - convenient and cosy. Incredibly affordable compared to hotels in the area. We even had bread, cheese, tea and coffee in the kitchen on our arrival.
Sessy also gave us great advice on what to do around Rejkyavik and had plenty of tourism books, maps and leaflets for our own use. Not to mention having the use of the bikes - the tandem bike is hilarious fun!
We would definitely stay again, thanks for having us!
Sesselja is a great host. We absolutely loved the location and the fact that she had bikes in her garage that we could use. There are a couple of convenience stores nearby which helped us settle. She gave us really good advice on places to visit which were not originally in our agenda and they turned out to be fantastic. The dog was great company. We had bread, cheese, coffee & juice waiting for us as we arrived early morning. It was such a perfect welcome.
Sesselja is a lovely host with a home that is in a prime location! This was my first AirBnb experience and Sesselja emailed us (4 girls) beforehand to arrange everything and even dropped off something I forgot at her home to a friend in a nearby hostel. The main street of the city is only a 10 minute bike ride along the shore and it is a beautiful ride.
Reykjavik is beautiful and Sesselja's home is definitely a great place to come back to after a long day sightseeing.
My first visit to Iceland and what a wonderful time. Sesselja is a thoughtful, caring host. It is a lovely self contained apartment with a proper kitchen - yes that means an oven, all utensils and stocked up with grocery, bread, juice, really good coffee, tea, milk etc. It is a great location - right on the bus route. 10 mins walk to the coastal view walk into town, and from their 20 mins/ half hour into town with panoramic views.
The wifi is powerful and consistent and its a great place to stay. Thank you for your warmth and hospitality. Sesselja is great for information and advice and also allows you to enjoy your space.
i will be back
Our stay at Sesselja's home was absolutely wonderful. She was accommodating from the very start when she opened her home early to us after our overnight flight and even provided us with extra coffee. Her kitchen is well-stocked for those that are on a budget and want to home cook instead of eating out all the time.
Her home is welcoming, clean, amply stocked in the kitchen and bath, and the Icelandic geothermal water is hot, hot, hot!
Also, the location of Sesselja's home is absolutely ideal. It's really close to the largest local pool in Reykjavik which is not to be missed (it has a slide!) and is a 10-ish minute walk from the hub of Reykjavik. She's also located right along this beautiful walking/cycling path along the ocean. Finally, the home is right near the Cabin Hotel which is a pick up spot for all of the major tour companies if you aren't renting a car and just doing day tours from Reykjavik.
Sesselja is a wonderful host. I could just spend hours chatting with her and she sent us to an awesome Icelandic cafe for traditional Icelandic fare. Her knowledge of Iceland and Reykjavik come free with the stay and they are extremely valuable!
Can't say enough good things about Sesselja and her home. We'll be heading back to Iceland in the future and staying with her again!
We would highly recommend Sesselja's lovely apartment! We spent a great 4 days there and echo the sentiments of others who have reviewed here. It was well kitted out; Sesselja gave us lots of useful information and the apartment was cosy and well located. We would definitely stay there again!
We had a great stay with Sessy and her family in Reykjavic. They were very friendly and helpful and Snatty the doggie is lovely too! The accomodation is well situated, in a lovely neighbourhood with good links to the centre and nearby to a hotel for pick ups for excursions. We loved the local swimming pool, as did our boys, and we were there for 3 hours. It's very cheap too which was welcome. The fishmonger around the corner is also worth a visit. We had such a lovely time, thanks very much!
Had a great time in Iceland for NYE. Hosts were fantastic. Loved this place. Thank you for letting us stay with you!
