My house is about 15 minutes (by public transport) from center and trainstation Haarlem and about 45 minutes from Center Amsterdam
Supermarket; 2 minutes walk
Shopping center (modern): 7 minutes walk
Bus to center Haarlem/trainstation: 1 minute walk
Bus to Amsterdam: 5 minutes walk
BUT HAARLEM ITSELF IS WORTH VISITING TOO!!!
- Frans Hals Museum
- almost 20 "Haarlemse hofjes" (Almshouses, originally courtyard for elder people (dated between 14th & 19th century) , established by the wealthier people)
- Teylers museum (oldest museum of Holland)
- several smaller museums
- several interesting churches and one cathedral
- chosen as best city to live in Holland several times
- only 12 km to the beach (nice biking roads)
- Rotterdam, Madurodam (all kinds of Dutch buildings on scale 1:25) easy to go by train in 1 hour
So: Amsterdam: very nice and a must see, but if you come to Haarlem, don't forget to pay attention to this city too. It has almost everything what Amsterdam has, sometimes even better and sometimes just a bit smaller and more relaxed.
Nice biking roads from my place (east Haarlem) to Amsterdam, the dunes and the beach!! Well marked roundtrips Haarlem nearby.
What makes my place nice is the short (walking/bikeride) distance to typical Dutch countryside (incl. 3 mills!!)
We give you privacy in the kitchen/centralroom as much as we can during breakfast, and make you feel at home. Any questions on what to do I am very happy to help you with. All photo's of other rooms than bedrooms: shared use after making appointments with me.
There is a dog and a cat in the house. So problems with health or other concerning animals might give problems. In that case: thnx for reading and succes with finding a nice place to stay in Holland!
Karin's house is conveniently located just off the bus 300 route from Schipol with buses leaving every 7 minutes. Her house is clean and tidy, with two friendly dogs and a beautiful Abyssinian cat. Karin is a great hostess, she's so interesting to talk to and is very passionate about permaculture and knowledgeable about economics, so it was a real education to spend time with her. Karin asked me if I mind that she smokes in the house, and I said I didn't. She was quite willing to smoke outside instead had I asked. She's also amazing with the dogs and the bicycle. She cycles quite fast with the two well behaved dogs beside. Haarlem is a very pleasant cycle ride from Karin's house. Her generosity in lending a bicycle was much appreciated. It's a perfect location for exploring the area by bike or public transport with easy links to Amsterdam. It was great to meet you Karin and your lovely kids. Goede reizen in Litouwen xx
I'm the returner and that says much, doesn't it? I spent 4 days at Karin's house and that was extremely nice. We celebrated the New Year Eve together. Karin and her family are kind and openminded people and it was a pure pleasure to discuss different things with them. Tasty breakfasts, joyful dogs and wise cat are included :) Thank you Karin :)
Karen is a wonderful host as usual. Second time staying, enjoyed it so much, that I decided to stay longer!
Karin is a nice and thoughtful person and her family is so friendly. She supported me a lot and we had many interestings talks. I really enjoyed my stay at Karin's house
Karin is a great hostess, very friendly and helpful. She provides a very comfortable room (third floor) at her house in Haarlem (a great town approximately 45 minutes from Amsterdam). The room is large as is shared bath and kitchen. There is a bus stop, stores and restaurants within walking distance. Wireless Internet is available. Karin provides a very good breakfast and she even cooked a meal for me to share. Karin is very knowledgeable about the local area and attractions. She enjoys bicycling and has a guest bicycle. I enjoyed Haarlem its attractions and country side more than Amsterdam. Karin is highly recommended. I hope to stay at her place again.
Gastrvrijheid was tops!!
Karin is a friendly, open and fantastic host that will make sure your stay is comfortable. Her tales are asbolutely incredible and she has an extraordinary sense of humour that will make you feel like in your own home. The house is well connected by public transport and arriving to another cities in NL will take you no more than 30 min from Haarlem Central Station. Excellent breakfast. Thanks for the bread cooked in the oven and the bananas: no included the first day but the others when Karin discovered they were my favourite fruit.See you soon!
Thank you Karin and family! I couldn't have asked for a more kind host family for my first solo trip. Karin gave me all sorts of good tips and direction. Her son hooked me up with their wireless right away and they even loaned me a bike! I highly recommend!
Karin is a excellent host, she takes care of her guest and is very open and frendly. The rooms are confortable and pleasent. I recommend this adress as a nice place to stay in Haarlem.
For me it was the first time hat i booked with airbnb. It was a wounderful time Tod stay in karins Hause. Unfortunately i could not geht to know Karin since she was traveling. IAS warmly received by their children and dogs. The room was pleasant and comfortable ,the breakfast was very extensive. When (website hidden)ing back in Haarlem Ii would stay there again.
