We have created a cozy, clean space inspired by a vintage style emphasized with industrial touches.
We have specially decorated it with a mix of old-fashioned furniture and some exotic objects coming from our trips around the world: Polynesian tiki in bathroom, fabrics and furniture from India, painting from Vietnam, potteries from Africa. This mixed up with our passion for classic design as Eames and Baumann Art deco chairs. All this, completed with the new modern pieces from Swedish brand that you know.
Our Style: eclectic, vintage, industrial
Inspiration: Our travels, friends, bohemian Parisian style
Favourite element: the marble table with legs made in cast iron, typical of the parisien bistrots.
The flat is located near the waterway's iron footbridges and lock immortalized in the famous movie "Hotel du Nord", by Marcel Carné (1938) and in romantic wanderings of Amelie Poulain.
The canal was built in Napoleon III period to transport materials from quarries in the north to the Seine and was completed in 1825. Extending over 4,5 km of which two are underground, the canal has remained authentic and it flows across an area punctuated with locks, swing bridges, venetian-style footbridges, some art deco buildings, and lined with chestnut trees. Throughout the day, barges or pleasure boats past along the greenish water.
Here you will find also the remarkable 17th-century Hôpital St-Louis that was founded in 1607 by Henri IV to care for the victims of the plague.
Nowadays, living around Canal offer a different approach to discover Paris.
Here artists, young creative workers and families seduced by the area's lazy charm have begun to settle in to the district, setting up small cafes, bars, boutiques, ateliers and lofts. At lunchtime, photographers, art directors, graphic designers and families wander around, especially in the weekend.
Actually, the atmosphere in the weekend is very unique because the banks are pedestrian therefore the walkers can stroll around, sporty people can run or even fish, lazy people just stay to watch acrobats, street artist and musician performing all around.
In summer and springtime the sun sets late over Paris, even at 10 p.m. You may sit on the stone banks of the Canal St.-Marti, and spend a warm evening eating saucisson and baguette and drinking French wine.
In winter, you will spend your end-afternoon and evening drinking and eating French specialities at several cafés, restaurants and brasseries, open every day, including Sunday.
The area is rich of famous place to eat and drink, as the bakery DU PAIN ET DES IDEES, that won the price of the best PARISIEN baker in 2008; or le VERRE VOLE, one of the best wine cellar of Paris, or the unique VOY ALIMENTO a reference in a vegan cuisine, or LE CAMBOGE, the ultimate Cambodian restaurant ever.
Other amenities include: supermarket 50 m, bakery and pharmacy in front
