Dimora Santo Spirito belong to my family from many generations.
In this house I remember my best childhood’s memories: this was my grandparents house, the Sunday lunch house, the tombola house, the Christmas house,…
The main rule of this house is to respect it as it is also for you a family’s house.
I especially leave the ancient furniture of my grandparents to keep intact the real atmosphere of this house of yore..there isn’t modern furniture and I only ask you a bit of attention to it as for the florentine’s cotto floor.
Our neighbours become family’s friends over the years: we respect each other. I ask you for this reason accuracy (especially for the number of person in the house) and good breeding.
My parents live in an another apartment far only 200mt, they are always helpful for any emergency if I can’t come immediately…
I always equip the apartment with bed and bathroom linen for my guests.
If requested I can always keep your bags for the day at your arrival or your departure in the apartment or in my parent’s house.
in cotto fiorentino.
My Mum and I were met at the apartment by Cristina and her sister who were both very friendly and welcoming. They showed us around and also had very kindly got milk, coffee, a bit of bread etc in the house for us which was really great as it meant we didn't have to worry about the basics. The apartment is gorgeous, a real gem. I slept on the sofa bed (super comfortable) and my mum took the bedroom. In the mornings we would open the windows on to the little garden and drink our coffee looking out. We loved it. So peaceful! I come to Florence once or twice a year and always stay at a hotel, this year I decided to try an apartment and i'm so happy we picked this one. It was a real Florentine experience in a lovely, vibrant part of the city. 1 minute to Santo Spirito - a square full of restaurants and aperitivo hot spots. Could not speak more highly of this apartment and i can't wait to go back!
The apartment was wonderful and exactly as the listing described. I was met by Cristina and her sister at the door and they helped me with my things upstairs and explained how the apartment worked. There was already some food in the kitchen which was very nice. The rooms were very well furnished with everything one would need for a short of longer term stay, and the hot water and heating during the winter was comfortable. The apartment is only up one flight of stairs and in a great location for sight seeing and museum visits, while not being too far from the train station either. It is in a quiet neighborhood and I never had any trouble falling asleep. One of my favorite things about the place was the old matching sets of antique furniture, the comfortable bed, and being able to cook meals in the kitchen. I would say that the place is also very secure as one has to use three keys (main door, gate, and apartment door) to enter. I would recommend this place and stay here again.
Staying in Florence in Christina's lovely Traditional-Dimora S.Spirito apartment in the heat of August was a wonderful experience. Within minutes of arrivIng you feel you have immersed yourself into the culture and lifestyle of Florence. It is quiet, clean, airy and has a wonderful inner garden outlook.
The apartment has all you need for a very comfortable stay and opportunity to rest and gather yourself if on an extended tour. There are very good instructions on how everything works.
The apartment is away from the maddening crowds but within easy walking distance to most of the attractions. There are many restaurants nearby and a good mini mart a short walk away in via Romana. Buses pass close by.
Christina was very prompt, informative and easy to deal with when making the arrangements for our stay. We were met by Christina's sister, Bettina, who was very welcoming, informative and charming making us feel immediately relaxed and at home.
The apartment is very good value. If it fits your budget then look no further.
Thank you Christina and Bettina.
Christina was an excellent and very accommodating host. She was expedient and concise in responding to our questions or concerns, communication ( through emails) was never a problem. She was waiting for us as we got out of the taxis when we arrived and then went through the in and outs of the apartment and area in a reassuring manner. She arranged for our taxis to pick us up for our departure date. The apartment is the perfect location for visiting the beautiful city of Florence. It is in easy walking distance of the historical centre of Florence and all the great eating establishments through out the city. It was a twenty minute walk to get to the train station from the apartment. A two minute walk down a well lit alley takes you into the piazza S. Spirto where you will find at least four restaurants that serve excellent food along with friendly and welcoming service. There are convenience stores where you can get water, beer or the little things that you may require. We never felt a need to take public transportation as there is so much to see as you walk to your next destination. As they say in the travel guide as long as you can see the Duomo you will never get lost. The apartment was only one flight of stairs up from the street. It was very spacious and the layout was terrific. The huge and spacious bedroom was off the sitting area and was perfect for living out of your suitcases. The view from the living room windows was that of a garden and a small green area established by owners of the other apartments. It was a very pleasant view to gaze upon as you have your morning coffee. The kitchen was supplied with everything that you would require and the space was great for two people. The bathroom was separate, from the living area which is a nice touch. When you leave the apartment for the day if the blinds are shut it will stay quite cool until you return in the evening and then you can open the windows and let the cool evening air fill up the place. The apartment works because of the separations of rooms. If I could add one thing to the apartment it would be a newer hide a bed that would be more comfortable to sit upon and that would be the only criticism that I would have. The historical age of the building/apartment with the high ceilings, the tile floors and some of the antique furnishings, only enhanced the great experience of staying here. We were very fortunate to be able to pick this apartment as it made our visit to Florence so enjoyable, it was a perfect location for us.
We had a wonderful time at Cristina's apartment. It was exactly as pictured and very clean and well equipped. The refrigerator and gas range and oven are regular U.S. size which is large by european standards. The location/neighborhood is great. You are a block and a half from Piazza Santo Spirito which has an open air market every Tuesday thru Saturday. There are several small convenience stores as well as bars, cafes, and restaurants. You can walk everywhere and if you get lost all the locals all know where Santo Spirito is. There local information and maps, with the super markets/convienience stores marked, in the apartment for the guests. Cristina is always available by phone, text or email. She was very kind and booked us taxis on our departure day. I only have one other comment and that is to be aware there's a flight of stairs to reach the apartment. I can heartily recommend the apartment and the hostess.
Cristina's apartment was wonderful! It was in a great location away from the crowds with a wonderful piazza just down the street where you could find bakeries and many restaurants. All the locals seem to hang out here in the evening.
Cristina was warm and welcoming and left us with maps that had a list of supermarkets on it. I would highly recommend staying here!
