  • Beautiful space in a picturesque location. Short bike ride from the beach, short drive into downtown Charleston. Elaine was a wonderful hostess and made the whole trip easy and smooth.

  • Elaine was a very sweet and accomadating host! This is a very cool spot located close to Folly Beach and only a few minutes from downtown Charleston. The scenery around the place was amazing and it's a small quaint place to stay. My girlfriend and I had a great first airbnb experience.

  • Want to be near enough to the beach but avoid the touristy traps that can accompany it? This is your place! Minutes from historic Charleston and Folly Beach, you can think of this place as your hideout-replete with a quiet dock on the marsh along with a screened in gazebo to enjoy some time outdoors enjoying the scenery. The apartment has all the essentials for making one's self comfortable along with an attentive property manager that wants you to feel right at home. Highly recommended. Yes, we would definitely visit again.
p.s. Take the hostess' recommendations on where to eat-you won't be disappointed!

  • We had a wonderful time at Marsh Place. Elaine was a great host. The place was spotless and had everything we needed. The views from the dock and porch were beautiful. Loved the location, a short drive from both Folly beach AND Charleston.
Thanks for a great weekend Elaine!

  • Elaine was extremely helpful and very pleasant. It was lovely and quaint!

  • Elaine was a delightful hostess...communicative, friendly, generous and knowledgeable about the local area. We got lucky with Marsh Place. It's perfectly situated for exploring the best of the Charleston area...about 15 minutes to the city for all it offers, 10 minutes or less to the beaches and the marsh with all its beauty at your back door. The place itself is charming, with everything you need for a clean and comfortable stay, including your own sunny porch with a table and chairs. Loved it. Our tip: Once you have availed yourselves of all the wonderful Charleston restaurants, spend an evening at nearby Bowen's Island enjoying roast oysters, shrimp and hushpuppies. The place is fun and funky (in the best of ways) but the food is straight up good. Thanks, Elaine!

  • We loved our stay at this charming apartment! Everything that we could have possibly needed was provided by Elaine, who was a gracious host. The dock and screened in porch were great places to unwind after busy days of exploring Charleston and Folly Beach. The location was also great - no more than a 15/20 minute, easy drive to downtown Charleston. We highly recommend staying here.

  • This is a great spot to stay just outside of Charleston. You have the advantage of all the amenities of a home in a beautiful salt marsh area while being only ten minutes from downtown Charleston. Our contact, Elaine, could not have been more helpful. Fresh flowers, fruit and chocolate greeted us on arrival. The space is small, but it has everything you could possibly need. Its bright and funky decor are perfect for the setting. Everything was of the best quality. We lacked for nothing except more time to stay there to enjoy the beautiful salt marshes. In addition, you're not very far from Folly beach.

    Response from Elaine:

Thanks so much, Marg - you two were an absolute delight! Hope you'll make it back this way again!

  • We had a wonderful vacation to Charleston and our stay at Marsh Place couldn't have been better! Elaine was so great at communicating with us before, during, and after our stay. She went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and helped make my husband's birthday celebration special! Her recommendation of the Lost Dog Cafe for breakfast was spot on - it was delicious! When we return to Charleston, we will definitely stay at Marsh Place again!

    Response from Elaine:

Thanks, Autumn! Would LOVE for you two to stay with us again!

  • Elaine is an AMAZING host! Her studio / house on the water is gorgeous! My wife and I had a wonderful time there and we certainly couldn't have had a better weekend thanks to Elaine. The location is PERFECTLY close to Folly Beach, John's Island, and Charleston. It is literally about a quarter mile from the main road, but far enough to not be bothered by anything and enjoy the tranquility. It is situated in a beautiful neighborhood that is perfectly walkable throughout the day. It is also about a quarter mile from the grocery store if you need to gather any food or essentials you may have forgotten, although Elaine provided some essentials and we were pleasantly surprised.

Here's a few things we did during our visit to Elaine's beautiful hideaway:
-Went to Folly Gras (Folly Beach's version of Mardi Gras)
-Visited the Angel Oak Tree on John's Island
-Toured through Striped Pig Distillery in Charleston
-Ate breakfast off the dock (made grits, eggs, and bacon in the kitchen)
-Went to some AWESOME restaurants and listened to some great live music. Elaine had some cool recommendations for us.

In short, this place is perfect if you like comfy, cozy, warm, inviting, simple, yet accommodating places. If you're single, married, a business professional, a hipster at heart, or anything in between, you will LOVE this place. My wife and I left with fond memories and the total desire to return.

Elaine, if you're reading this...WE WILL BE BACK! :)

I used to live in this little apartment when I was a student at College of Charleston. I chose it because it was on the water, and it took me just 13 minutes to be in class. I loved to watch the sunrise from the dock, and the moonrise was magnificent! I had a beautiful vegetable garden in the summer and loved to eat figs from the trees in the yard. I also gathered lots of pecans in the fall. Since then, things have changed. An incredible screened-in porch has been added, and the apartment has a great new look! But what brings me back is what brought me here from the start - the living, breathing marsh and the wealth of beauty that abounds - the pace of the tides, the watercolor sunsets, the splashing of fish, and dolphins at play. Endless hours of sunshine on the dock and wonderful gatherings with friends and family. Now, I offer this space to you, to share it as I've loved it, in all its compact quirkiness, and all its natural glory. Hope to see you here soon - you may never want to leave!
