The Plantation Bungalow Studio is the perfect setting for a romantic holiday or a place to just settle in and call it home for awhile! Private yet near all of the amenities Kihei has to offer. Just 300' from a beach right of way and a perfect place to launch the kayak (included!) Beach bikes available as well. Queen bed and double futon sofa provide comfortable sleeping accommodations. This studio looks into the shady courtyard with the shared spa. A perfect respite after a day in the sun! All the snorkel and beach gear you'd ever need is also included. This property also offers a 2 bedroom cottage and the main house has 3 bedrooms and sleeps six. This is the perfect place for family gatherings, by the way, did I mention this place is PERFECT? Close to bus stops!
All amenities on property including beach gear, kayak, bikes and snorkel gear.
Interaction with Guests
I try to stop by and say aloha but frequently guests are out and about. As long as they are happy, it's all good.
Sweet spot close to everything!
There is a bus stop just around the corner from the property.
Other Things to Note
We have bikes and a kayak! This place is truly unique and we are proud of that!
Enjoy the setting and quiet time is 9 pm. Smoking (if you must) outside only, please be considerate of other guests. Recycling containers in the garage. The driveway is shared with the guests of the 2 bedroom cottage.
Spent a great week at the plantation studio in January.
We read in some of the other reviews that the location could be noisy (especially if others we're renting the other units on the property). Given the proximity of the units and the shared patio this definitely could be the case, but we found the opportunity to get to meet our neighbors to be a net plus. There was one other family that was renting both the main house and the cottage. (This multiple unit property is incidentally a perfect choice for a family reunion). They invited us to eat dinner and share a few bottles of wine with them one night, and even helped us figure out how to use the hot tub. Our host, Kristin, even made an appearance.
We were planning to do a few days of our vacation on the beach and since we weren't in a resort (resorts usually have chaise lounges, and beach towels, etc.) we weren't sure what we'd need. We looked in to renting chairs from one of the snorkel shops, but we were floored when we checked into the plantation and raided the "beach supplies" in the garage. There were ample folding beach chairs, boogie boards, kids toys (sand castle) and coolers-- all we had to provide was the sunscreen!
Perhaps the most helpful small detail that our hosts provided was a copy of Maui Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook. It definitely saved me a lot of time with my head in my phone trying to find the best beaches and stops on the Road to Hana.
There were few drawbacks to The Plantation, but I should mention a few things. The cottage shares a driveway with the studio-- so there's the potential for parking someone in/being parked in. It happened to us once, but our neighbor just knocked on our door and we moved our car. The guest book mentioned that there was walkable beach access-- we couldn't find it. There's a nearby park, but it has a rocky coastline and is a bit far to carry chairs and other beach stuff. We ended up driving 5-10min for most of beach trips. No big deal.
We really enjoyed our week here and would definitely consider staying at the property again on our next trip to Maui.
We'd LOVED the location of the AirBNB! But please know that if you arrive at night you will be left wondering which door is your door. Just hope that someone's around to help you. I hate to say it, but I didn't even use the hot tub. It was VERY dirty and the temp was 93 degrees:( The sheets on the hide-a-bed hadn't been cleaned as there was a large blood stain on it. Remember to bring your earplugs....folks were partying in the hot tub way past the curfew.
It is a beautiful location and we were very grateful to be so close to town.....
Hi Sara, Sorry about the confusion on which door to enter. If you follow the instructions posted not the airbnb site, it directs to the main entry. We have the hot tub cleaned every two weeks so it sounds like the other guests were using it pretty regularly. I would have to assume that the lower temp on the tub was due to someone leaving the cover off for awhile. So sorry about these issues and particularly the sheets. I have shared you review with our property manager.
My husband and I loved staying at the bungalow studio. The neighborhood is pretty quiet with the park/beaches a nice walk or easy bike ride away, ocean access just a block away, and easy walking to restaurants/grocery. We enjoyed the use of the beach toys and bikes. There is a lovely courtyard and the studio was well appointed; everything was just as described. We took 20 minutes to read through the orientation book when we first arrived and it contained a lot of useful information about the property amenities and local information. I hope we can come back soon!
The reservation was canceled 54 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Wonderful, comfortable place - we were really impressed by how well outfitted it is with so many nice extras. As this is their family place it is really set up well in every way - well outfitted kitchen, nice lighting, copious good quality beach play gear. Kristin and her helper very responsive. The only possible downside might the the intimacy with the small house across the court yard. There was a nice family from Canada there when we stayed in the studio so all was well (after one friendly reminder to ask the 12 year old boy not to play his bongos at 7am). The ideal way to visit would be to rent both properties (studio and cottage), add the house even and you could have a large group and be incredibly comfortable. Location is pretty great for the Kihei beaches, food shopping, etc. We didn't do a lot of restaurants so can't comment there. But if you want to grab boogie boards, snorkeling gear and take a picnic to the Kam II beach and come back to enjoy a hot tub and dinner in a private courtyard this place is about as wonderful as it gets.
Good location, close to some great beaches (Kamaole 1 was my fav!). If you renting just the studio on your own, it may be a bit awkward because the Jacuzzi is in front of the studio but you are right next to the main house and across from the cottage. If any of the other places have their windows open at night, just talking at normal tones in the jacuzzi would be disturbing them. Really, this place is best when rented with the cottage and/or the main house. For a huge family/friend gathering.

I keep busy with my interior design business, home furnishings store and vacation rental property in Kihei. The property has a spacious 3 bedroom home, 2 bedroom cottage and large studio that can sleep 4.
