The Neighborhood

Wicker Park recently was named on of the hippest neighborhoods in the country. There are tons of restaurants, bars, and parks within a short walk. We are on a quiet, tree lined street. The building is located within a 1/2 mile of 2 Blue Line trains (goes from O'Hare into downtown) and a single bus ride to the North Avenue Beach (we provide beach towels), the world famous Steppenwolf Theater Company, The Second City Improv Comedy Shows, Lincoln Park, and the Lincoln Park Zoo/Farm in the Zoo. Take a train or taxi downtown to reach Millenium Park, The Art Institute, Michigan Avenue, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Willis Tower, and amazing Broadway in Chicago theatrical shows (at a better rate than Broadway itself). We're around the corner from one of the only 24-hour diners in Chicago, allowing you to eat a good meal out even after a late night out.

Within walking distance you will also find a 24-hour FedEx/Kinko's, 2 Walgreens stores, Osco, CVS, a couple Starbucks, currency exchanges, and numerous banks.

Getting around

We're located less than a 1/4 mile for the North Avenue exit on I-90/94, within a 1/2 mile of 2 Blue Line trains (goes from O'Hare into downtown), and a single bus ride to major attractions on North Avenue in Old Town, Clyborn Corridor, and Lincoln Park. Taxis are plentiful at several close corner locations or you can call a taxi to meet you at your door. There is plenty of street parking, some permit parking and some free.

Check In
  • Greg and Lori were extremely helpful and responsive throughout the entire process. The apartment is clean, comfortable, and spacious - parking was also easy. The apartment is within walking distance of tons of fun restaurants and bars in Wicker Park/Bucktown, but is on a nice quiet street. I'd highly recommend staying here if you're in Chicago!

  • Greg and Lori have been very great and helpful host!
Everything went very smoothly and it was great to have a home away from home in Chicago.
The appartment is very comfortable with 2 big and comfortable bedroom and 2 bathroom - it was perfect for 4 people.
They provide as well a few books and boardgames which was great after a full day being outside in the cold.

  • I brought my staff to Chicago from Minneapolis so we could exhibit at the Chicago Fine Chocolate Show. Greg and Lori's place was perfect. We could hang out together in the evenings, cook, have privacy if we wanted it, and were close enough to downtown to have it be convenient, but far enough out that we got a taste of a "real" Chicago neighborhood. Everything we needed was available and explained well. It was a pleasure to get to stay here, top to bottom!

  • This was a terrific place to stay with kids. It was so nice to go out and do a morning activity at the museum, zoo, etc., come back to Wicker Park for a nap and then dinner out in the Wicker Park/Lincoln Park/Bucktown area. There's so much shopping close as well at North/Clybourne without Michigan Ave. hassles. Parking was simple and Greg and Lori were very easy to to reach. We will definitely stay at this rental again if they'll have us. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay in the great city of Chicago!

  • This is a great and homey space that certainly made our Chicago experience even more enjoyable.

Greg and Lori are organized, gracious and accommodating hosts who pretty much thought of everything you may need while there: extra blankets and towels, coffee and granola bars in the kitchen, wifi, dinnerware and glasses etc. If it is important to you, the only thing 'missing' was a TV, but we were out too much enjoying Chicago to ever even watch one. Greg was quick to get back to my emails whenever I had a question.

I went with 3 girl friends and we all appreciated the two bathrooms and extra space - much better than being cooped up in a small hotel room. Having a full kitchen was also helpful, we could make breakfast and coffee in the morning before going out.

Wicker Park is a unique a vibrant area of Chicago and we thoroughly enjoyed taking advantage of its excellent food and shopping (get breakfast at The Bongo Room, trust me!). Walking distance to the Damen subway too. All major landmarks were very easy to get to by subway.

Overall, this place was a steal for the price, and offered us much more value than any hotel possibly could, and with more to offer. We all felt lucky to find and score such great accommodations.

    Thanks Greg and Lori!

  • This was a great place to stay for a fabulous girls trip! We had six people and it was nice for us to be able to stay in the same place and make ourselves at home without tripping over each other. It was especially nice to have a kitchen and easy access to public transportation. The neighborhood was great with many things to do nearby, which was good because we exhausted by the end of day and it was nice to have options for dinner and drinks without having to go into the city! We were so pleased with this experience and would definitely recommend it to others.

  • Its a nice clean, comfortable stay. I wouldn't call it luxurious, but, the price is great, and the neighborhood fantastic.

    October 2012
  • Everything turned out to be as it was advertised on the airbnb website. No problems, and a mindful host.

    October 2012
  • The reservation was canceled 53 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • Great apartment in Wicker Park. We really enjoyed our stay. I would recommend this place to anyone. It would be a nice place to stay with another couple as well. The apartment was walkable to many restaurants and shops and very spacious. The kitchen was also well stocked. We will definitely be back next time we visit Chicago.

My wife and I have been together for more than a decade. We met online, so meeting guests online is just par for the course! Lori grew up in Chicago. Yes, there are kids who are raised in this wonderful city! I grew up in the far northern suburb of Vernon Hills. We are foodies who have gone to some of the best restaurants in Chicago. We love theater and have season tickets to Steppenwolf Theater Company here in Chicago (a short bus ride or about a mile walk from our home). Lori has travelled the world: England, Greece, Egypt, and Guatemala, to name a few places. She lived in London for a semester of college. I haven't travelled as much, but we plan to do more in the future. As hosts, we will answer any questions you have, but want to be unobtrusive during your stay. We live in the building (in a separate apartment), but will not bother you at all. We've been traditional landlords since 2005 and have 2 traditional units for rent still. We hope you enjoy your stay and love Chicago as much as we do!
