The finished basement in my New Britain home is available for short to mid-term stays. The living space is large, tastefully decorated, and has three sizable windows... you will not feel like you're in a dank cellar!
You'll have fresh sheets, towels and your own private bathroom with shower stall. The space is approximately 600 sqft. There is no kitchen but there is a sink and an area where you can keep dry food. The place feels like a large studio apartment... plenty of privacy!
You'll receive a key and you can come and go as you please. I listed this as a private room but it will feel like you have an entire apartment to yourself. You may see my parents (very pleasant folks) on the first floor on your way in or out.

This was my third time staying at Syed's home, and I was very happy! It's always nice to be greeted by Nori, who goes out of her way to make one feel welcome. I highly recommend staying at this home if you're ever in the area and need a place to stay! Since my daughter goes to school nearby, it's great to have my own apartment available when I visit.
This was my second time at this home, and I'm still very happy with my stay! Syed's mom, Nori, is super wonderful and always makes me feel welcome and at home. The check-in/check-out is very smooth and simple, and I can't say enough about the adorable basement apartment. I'm planning on returning next month.
The room was exactly as described with all the amenities. There was nice private parking in the back of the house and easy access to the basement through the back entrance. The basement was a good size. There was access to a coffee maker with coffee, a mini fridge and microwave--although I did not use these I took note that this would be a great place for a longer term stay. One thing to note is that the bathroom and shower stall is small.
I was very, very happy with my stay at the Hyats' home. I was greeted by Syed's mom, Nori, who was so nice, helpful and friendly! She showed me around the basement apartment and genuinely cared that my stay would be comfortable. The basement apartment was exactly as was shown in the photos, and I have only positive things to say about the place. The bed was very comfy, and the room was clean. The apartment had everything you needed to feel comfortable and at home: coffee maker, air conditioner, de-humidifier, heater, fridge, micro-wave, office area/desk, nice bathroom (with amenities) and TV. The internet worked great, too, and I was able to do some work during the week of my stay. Since my daughter attends school in the Hartford area, this was the perfect place for me to stay while visiting her. I will be back again next month!
Syed's parents home was very clean and cheerful! I would definately recommend them to a friend or family member!
Syed was easy to get in touch with and his mom, Nori, who let me in, was a friendly and accommodating hostess. The room had everything you would need for an inexpensive stay, including a mini-fridge, soap, washing machine and she even provided shampoo since I hadn't brought mine.
our stay at syed's was just great. a cozy downstairs nook, just as advertised, with living room area, and all the comforts. syed's parents were accommodating and very pleasant. the place was easy to find - only sorry we couldn't have relaxed there more, but we were on a busy schedule those two nights. we loved the hofbrauhaus just up the street - so out of place! but worth a visit on a saturday night for some german culture. we hope to stay at syed's again soon on another visit to see our son at wesleyan.
