Our home is in a rural setting at the top of Lawai Valley. We offer free wifi, comfortable beds and clean rooms with private baths.
This two room suite has hardwood floors, high ceilings, ceiling fans, and beautiful valley views out over the treetops.
We also have a lower cost single room, but this two room suite is ideal for longer stays or parents traveling with a small child.
The bedroom has a very comfortable queen bed, dresser, and small closet. The sitting room has a futon couch (fold down to a bed...appropriate for 1 child only) & TV with a DVD player & small selection of movies (no cable TV)
Please note that as of Aug. 1, 2013, we will no longer serve breakfast, and we have adjusted our rates to reflect this change.
The living room, bath, and bedroom were all a good size for two people. We enjoyed the stay in a more rural area where you could hear the birds and chickens and see the lushness of the valley. This is a convenient and very nice place to stay on the south end of the island. Traci is very nice and not an intrusive host at all. We felt relaxed and comfortable.
Great, quiet accommodation. Friendly host family. Nice location for the south side of the island.
I stayed in the 2 room rental and was glad because the single room was a very small space.
The 2 room rental was very clean and spacious and peaceful. It was perfect for my 2 day stay there. Traci was really friendly and anytime I had a question I would text her and she would text me back immediately.
She is really respectful of giving you private space and I hardly saw her at all (although I would hear the family/kids at dinnertime).
There's a small fridge and microwave to use.
Below are the cons, but they are well outweighed by the price and the pros:
- water was lukewarm in the morning (but hot in the afternoon)
- no dishes or cups available to use so had to buy them
- It would have been nice to have a water bottle and soap in the room upon arrival .
We are glad we stayed at the Strawberry Guava. It's tucked away in a quiet residential area, but Traci's excellent directions got us there without problems. Just make sure you have them with you. We had great neighbours (also guests) and enjoyed having dinner / drinks and a long chat on the lovely patio. We really liked the layout of the house and the bright and airy feel to it. You get privacy if you want it and there's a chance to connect if you choose to. It's close to basically everything around and it's a at very fair price. I would highly recommend staying here and I would come back if ever on Kaua'i again.
The apartment was very nice and clean, with an individual access. We had access to a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The location was perfect, away from the crowd, in a quiet area, surrounded by nature. Traci was very friendly.
The Sullivan's place is as nice and affordable of a BNB as you'll find in the Hanapepe area. It is true that it is a small challenge to find, but it's only a few min. off the highway so it's not hard to get to, it's just that (website hidden)maps doesn't get you straight there like you might be used to ((website hidden) not= God... who knew?) So just make sure to print and bring or write down Traci's directions for how to get there and you'll have a great experience. It's quiet, peaceful, five min. off the main highway, and everything you could ask for in a nice place to stay for a few nights.
The Strawberry Guava B&B has a great location in south Kaua'i and our room had a beautiful hilltop view of a verdant valley beneath. The hosts were very friendly and informative, giving us a great lead to an excellent nearby restaurant, the room was clean and quiet, and the queen-sized bed was quite comfortable. However, the furnishings of the two-room suite were quite spartan, the decor not attractive at all, and there was barely enough light to read in the sitting room. Worst of all, the room is on the first floor of a quadrangle with large windows and a full-length door facing into the quadrangle, yet the curtains did not close fully and the bamboo curtain rods kept falling down whenever we tried to close the curtains (which ultimately proved futile). Result: we felt like we were staying in a fish bowl with no privacy at all. I'm not sure what one should expect for roughly $80-85 per night in Kauai. If you want simple shelter and a good base for exploration, this a great deal, but do not stay here if you want elegance, coziness or privacy in your accommodations.
Awesome little place with fantastic hosts and charming pets. Delicious breakfasts. Thank you, Sullivans!
This was a great place to stay and we will certainly return. Our suite had a view of the tree tops across the Lawai Valley. All afternoon we were treated to the sounds of sweet birds and the moo-ing of cattle from the valley floor. Breakfast was filling and tasty and we were happy to have some time to shoot the breeze with our host Traci. It is a little tough to find but I think that makes it even better. Our bed was comfy and the sweet was clean and homey. At night it was soooooo quiet except for the usual night critters chirping away. We are grateful to have found this place and can't wait for our next trip. If I were an author, I would come here to pen my next novel!
