On loan from our good friend, Carolyn, this 1970 Shasta is a cute and cozy upgrade from basic tent camping. It is one of 3 campers and can be rented on its own or book our "Three Little Birds" listing to share with friends. This camper is basic with just a single cold-water faucet and electricity for heat/ac, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Be sure to pack your own sleeping bags and pillows as linens are NOT provided and read all the additional details below so you know what to expect.

The space
Located in "Tiny Town" near the farm's entrance, this is a very social area with several rentals clustered together along the creek bank. If you prefer privacy and seclusion, check out our other listings.

Vintage campers are not well-known for their spaciousness. The Warbler is our smallest camper and can only accommodate a maximum of 2 people. There is a couch that can sleep one person and the dining table converts into a twin bed to sleep a second. Folks over 6 feet tall are likely to feel a bit cramped.

There's no bathroom in the camper, but there is a nearby outhouse and a seasonal bath house available for guests to use. Although this camper is outfitted with a propane stove, this system is not available to use due to mechanical and safety reasons.

Construction of a new and improved guest facility with full kitchen, coin laundry, and gathering space is currently underway. Be sure to follow HomeGrown HideAways on social media to watch our progress.

Where you’ll be

Berea, Kentucky, United States

HomeGrown HideAways is a hundred acre holler near the end of a curvy and narrow two mile dead-end road (we suggest arriving before dark). We're just 11 miles from Berea, but can feel like a world away. The farm has several rentals so you'll likely encounter other guests and we hope you take the time to make new friends.

Madison County is DRY (as in - no alcohol). Berea is moist (drinks with dinner). Richmond is wet (packaged alcohol can be purchased, but not on Sunday).

Tater Knob Pottery is less than 2.5 miles from the farm. They're open Monday - Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Get Outside Ky is 6 miles away and they rent canoes and kayaks for paddling around Owsley Fork Reservoir.

The hiking trails at the Berea Pinnacles are 8 miles away.

Anglin Falls is about 20 minutes away.

We are happy to provide you with directions and be sure to check out the guidebook for restaurant and shopping recommendations.

Prepare to UNPLUG. No cell service, no wifi, just nature (but you can easily find us on the world wide web)! HomeGrown HideAways is a hundred-acre holler near Berea, Ky. It is owned and operated by Nathan & Jessa Turner, Jessa's mom, and a variety of pets and wildlife. All guests have access to our fully-stocked, chef-approved Community Kitchen which has COFFEE, and all major appliances (oven, stove, fridge, microwave, coffee maker) plus pots, pans, utensils, dishes and a 3 bin sink. Clean up after yourself. We have a steep and rugged hiking trail, several fire pits, and are just 6 miles from Get Outside Ky where you can rent kayaks. We do not have tv, internet, or cell reception. There are as many stars as there are bugs so come prepared for both! The farm's bath house is open from April through October (or whenever temps remain above freezing for an extended period of time) and features 4 flush toilets and 2 solar-heated showers. We ask that you leave your pets at home, but you are welcome to snuggle ours. If you don't like dogs, our place may not be a good fit for you since our critters get pretty excited to meet new guests and may jump on you (we promise we're working on training). For those with service animals, please be aware that there are coyotes, hawks, and other wildlife that might be a danger and we cannot guarantee how our dogs might react to your assistant. Please chat with us ahead of time to make sure we're the right option for you. We love sharing our beautiful farm and hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
