Profiles:
I always check for certain things on profiles, so please make sure you have these (or let me know you can add them later), thanks:
... An IDENTIFIABLE PHOTO(s), showing both people if applicable. Please don't book on behalf of someone else.
... A DESCRIPTION.
... A number of VERIFICATIONS including 'VERIFY ME eg social network &/or passport (not just phone and email.) (Note, a social network verification doesn't mean that it will display a link to your page.)

Thank you.

Currently I usually don't confirm bookings that are far in advance, e.g.more than few weeks away.

Short/long stays:
... Sometimes a minimum of 2 nights is required.
.. If you are looking for somewhere to stay for a week or more, I ask that there is an initial shorter booking so that both the host and guest can check that they are happy with everything first.
... If you may be interested in staying long term, please do also get in touch.

Thanks. If it goes ahead, I hope you have a fantastic stay!

SUMMARY:
- To central London takes around 1/2 hour (e.g. 10min walk, 20min tube) (or longer depending on exact final destination).
- It is a peaceful area. The house is a Victorian flat, all on one floor so it's fairly long, and has high ceilings.

Note (as of May 2014): currently the double room and sofa bed room are swapped (i.e. you'd get the same bed but in a different room.). Both rooms are of a similar size. Unfortunately I don't have a good quality camera to update the photos!

AMENITIES:
- Wi-fi.
- You can help yourself in the morning to a basic breakfast of cereal and juice.
- Access to: kitchen, dining room, bathroom, washing machine, and the garden. There is usually some available fridge and cupboard space.
- If you're not sure, please ask.

LOCAL SHOPS ETC:
- There is a small convenience store a few doors away.
- Within a few minutes walk are more shops, takeaway restaurants, hair salon, library, etc.
- The convenience stores stay open until 10pm or later.
- For a slightly bigger shop there is a Tesco Express not far from Bounds Green station.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT FROM/TO CENTRAL LONDON (& HEATHROW):
- Our local tube (underground train) station is Bounds Green, on the Picadilly line. You can travel direct to/from central London ((website hidden) Pancras 15min, or Leicester Square 20mins *), or Heathrow airport (1hr 15min aprx *). * plus walking
- At night the tube closes for around 5 hours, so for late night journeys you can take a night bus, e.g. the N91 from central London to Bounds Green, roughly every 15 min.
- It is much cheaper to travel in London if you get an Oyster card. There is also a 7 day travelcard. The Transport For London website can help you to plan journeys.

MORE TRAVEL INFO:
- There is a cycle hire scheme in central London.
- Tube: for travelling to and from central London, the zones you would need are 1-3. Kings Cross St Pancras is also on the Piccadilly Line e.g. for the Eurostar.
- Rail: Alexandra Palace rail station is less than 10min walk from the house, and goes to Kings Cross, but trains are generally less frequent than the underground (tube).
- Bus: Buses may take longer than the tube, although you may want to use it for view out the window. It is a standard price for using a bus, no matter how long you stay on board.
- Taxi: If you need a local taxi number we can provide this.
- Car: We are close to the North Circular Road / A406. There is free street parking available, although not always in front of the house.
- I can lend you a map of central London with some sightseeing places highlighted, and can try to answer any questions you have!
From Stansted airport it takes about 1 1/4 hours: train to Tottenham Hale, tube to Finsbury Park, tube to Bounds Green, then 10 min walk.

ALEXANDRA PALACE / PARK:
- Nearby is Alexandra Park. It's around 5 min walk to the entrance, and another 5 min or so walk to the palace at the top of the hill. It faces south east, and from here are some of the best views of London. The park is fairly large and includes a deer enclosure, a boating lake, cafes, and a farmers market on Sundays.
- At the top is Alexandra Palace. It was built in the 1870s (twinned with Crystal Palace). In the 1930s the BBC used the east part of it to make the world's first TV broadcast. Events include music (Rolling Stones, Jay Z, etc), and TV (the Masters world snooker tournament, World Darts Championship). It also has an ice skating rink.

  • Had the bare essentials! Fine for a short stay!

    May 2014
  • Tim was a great host, very helpful and kind. Neighbourhood is quiet, rooms are clean and cosy. Totally recommend.

    May 2014
  • Tim was a great host, and passionate about music. It was fun trying to find covers for your band !
    See ya

    April 2014
  • Tim was a very hospitable host. We found that his place did not meet our needs location wise (totally my fault) but Tim worked so kindly and showed great empathy with us to cancel the last couple days of our stay. We are very grateful and I can guarantee Tim is a great person to stay with...I feel so bad about the mess-up on my end.

    March 2014
  • Tim is a nice guy, we liked our stay.

    March 2014
  • Stanza molto grande e zona tranquilla. La zona è servita da un paio di bus, a 15 min di strada a piedi c'è la metro e sempre a circa 15 min dalla parte opposta la stazione Alexandra Palace.

    February 2014
  • I had a pleasant stay in Tim's home and I would stay there again.

    January 2014
  • The room was very comfortable, the bed very warm and Tim was very nice. Just 15 min. from the underground station, in the nice area of London. Some food shop near to the house. Thank you, Tim!

    December 2013
  • We did not stay in the room that is depicted on the photo. Nonetheless, a good and quite place to stay if you are on low budget. The heating was working and we had hot water.Tim was very kind and helpful. 20-30 minutes to the center with the Piccadilly line. Good value for money!

    Response from Tim (& Matt):

    I'm glad all was ok.
About the room, for clarity: some things have been changed / removed from the room since the photos were taken (as per the listing description), but it is the same room.

    December 2013
  • Tim was polite, helpful despite of our poor English knowledge.
