About this listing

Authentic Riad wonderfully located in Marrakesh nearby Djemaa El Fna square with staff caring. Our accommodation shows links between tradition and modernity. Comfort is high, nearby all commodities in a quiet area, very nice place to enjoy a journey

The space

Noura and her team offer a warm welcome for your stay at Riad located behind the walls of the old city, the medina of Marrakech.

We have restored this riad respecting traditional construction rules. It took five years to complete the total restoration that ended in September 2012. We have installed every modern comfort, water, heating, air conditioning, bathrooms and toilets in each room.

Located just steps from the Jemaa El Fna, with 4 bedrooms including a suite 4 people, a large patio, two lounges, a kitchen, a large terrace, one can easily accommodate up to ten people and even 12 with 2 extra beds. The booking price includes breakfast.

Meals can be ordered in the morning to the evening, served in a friendly atmosphere in one of two lounges, on the patio or on the terrace.

It is also possible to rent the entire house for a family or friends, like Christmas or a birthday.

All interests center are close to the Riad, Jemaa el Fna, the Koutoubia, Saadian Palace, the garden Adgal, the market of Gueliz, the souk Beldi, Majorelle Gardens, art galleries, upscale restaurants and popular nightclubs, water parks with access to free shuttle service.

We can arrange excursions and guided tours. If you have time, we particularly recommend a day trip to Essaouira, a charming town on the Atlantic coast in the west that absolutely must be seen. We also recommend the two-day trip in the Sahara desert around Zagora with overnight camping.

Discover the enchanting Moroccan atmosphere, mysterious, with a thousand colors.

Guest access

Guest can access to all the amenities excepted the kitchen which is a working area.

Interaction with guests

Before coming, we give a hand to our guests to prepare the stay and take in account all the requests. When the Riad is reached, we provide advice for all needs. We arrange sightseeings with local tourist agencies: night in desert, Essaouira port journey, etc...

Other things to note

We arrange local trips as one day in Essaouira or desert journeys. Ask us.
Smoking is better on the terrace rather than in the patio or the lounges.
It is forbidden smoking in the bedrooms.

I am very disappointed with staying with Noura and the experience I had. The reviews I read were really positive and I was excited to stay in the tradition riad as the photos looked wonderful. I specifically said I would only book if we were going to stay in the traditional riad as she has two properies. She agreed to this and also said she would arrange transfers to and from the airport aswell which was a bonus. I agreed and made a booking, then I then e-mailed her a week before our trip to just confirm everything to which she did not reply I had also noticed she had changed the pictures of the property completely and thought this was very strange. The night before we departed to Marrakesh I had to call Airbnb as Noura was not replying my e-mails and I had also tried to call/text her. After I got off the phone with Airbnb I received a message from her which stated that there had been some water damage to the traditional riad in November, and I could not stay there, and recommended I stay in the modern riad instead. I do not understand why she did not send me a message about the traditional Riad in November when the damage occurred and led me to believe I would still be staying there. At this point as it was the night before we would set off and did not have the time to cancel the booking and re-arrange so we decided to stay with her, which now I deeply regret. The Riad itself does not look anything like the pictures she provided, especially the main picture as there is not a terrace that looks like that anywhere in the property. The room we stayed in had a filthy floor as no one had mopped it but other than that it was acceptable. Noura said she had a cleaner that came and cleaned it everyday which she did not. And now on returning I have found she has sent me a request for 'damages' for 650 euros that I supposedly left, which I can swear I did not and the images she provided of the 'damages' are laughable (I'm pretty sure even hotels wouldn't charge such a large amount?!). I was there with my mother and we left the room in a nice condition and to receive this from her is an absolute shock. I would advise anyone against staying here as she ruined my trip due to her complete lack of communication, and there were plenty of other beautiful Riads in the same area which we could have stayed in if we had known previously. I do have to say Phillip was lovely during our trip and helped us a great deal, so thank you Phillip!!

Response from Noura:
Noura

Philippe and Noura gave us their welcome in their cozy riad in a very nice way, smiling on a lovely soundtrack (Mozart was playing) and a hot sweet tea. The riad is really close to the main square at Marrakech's Medina, in a street that keeps silent despite the close noisy city centre, where you can sleep really well!

Noura and philippe are very nice and helpful with everything. The riad is amazing and marocain style. We liked it a lot. It's a good place to stay if you want to explore the Medina of marrakech with all the souks and nice places to see

We stayed 2 nights with Noura, in Marrakech, during our three weeks in Morocco. Noura has recently completed the renovation of her beautiful Riad. We had a couple of problems with water, which I'm sure that Noura will resolve. Noura is a lovely person and very helpful. We wish her all the very best.

Noura was a wonderful host ready to help us with everything we needed. Her beautiful riad was centrally located even though it was a bit difficult to find at the beginning since no exact address was provided. However, we managed to reach Noura on the phone and she explained to the taxi driver where to go. We were provided sheets, towels and toilet paper, but no soap. Breakfast was included. It was everyday the same - pancakes + orange juice+ tea+ coffe, but it's quite easy to buy food on the street and there are tons of restaurants int he area. Would definetly recommend.

First there is something to clarify for new guests: if you want to stay in the old Riad shown on the picture you have to confirm this with Noura. We were surprised not to stay in the old Riad but in the new modern one just 20 meters further down the same road. It makes a huge difference if you book an old, original, charming Riad and then sleep in a new modern Riad without the historic flair of 1001 nights. Nevertheless, for us as a family it did work out well as we got a connecting room for our son, so he had his own room to sleep. Both Riads are ideally located 5 minutes from the main square and only a few meters from the souk. To make it easy to find, Phillipe met us in the main square on our arrival. The room was newly refurbished, clean and comfortable, however there is still missing the “finishing” in terms of flair but I am shure Noura is working on it. Both hosts are very helpful and caring. Thanks for the nice time!

I had a great time staying at Philippe and Noura's riad - Philippe was a wonderful, vivacious host who made me feel very welcome and shared his wealth of knowledge about the city. The riad is situated in an excellent location just a 5 minute walk from the main square, and the room was comfortable and well decorated. Upon arrival I found out that I had actually been upgraded from my original booking to a different location nearby - I found the riad to be perfectly suited to my needs, although it would have been nice to know about the change in advance. All things considered, I had a great trip and I'd definitely book again with Philippe and Noura.
