A secluded mountain retreat about 25 minutes from downtown Boulder, with hiking trails right from the door

Hot tub and fire pit under the stars

Stargaze from the hot tub or warm up by the fire pit, all surrounded by open space and mountain views

Craftsmanship guests can't stop praising

Guests describe the craftsmanship and design as a work of art, with many saying it's even better in person
Welcome to The Mountain Lookout - a tranquil and luxurious retreat 25 minutes (10 miles) from downtown Boulder. Enjoy ultimate seclusion at the end of a mile long private gravel driveway surrounded by hundreds of acres of open space. Star gaze from the hot tub, cook gourmet meals in the spacious kitchen, or just sit on the sofa, sip on a cappuccino, and watch clouds form over the mountains through the 17 foot high glass wall.

The space
The living space is one large open plan room that contains the kitchen, living area and king size bed.

Guest access
Guests are welcome to access all spaces in the home. Please note that the garage is not for parking vehicles but may be used for laundry (that's where the washer and dryer are).

Other things to note
A four-wheel-drive (4WD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicle is recommended to navigate the steep, narrow, one-mile unpaved mountain road to the property during summer. From October to May, when snow and ice are possible, 4WD or AWD is required.

October-May:
The road is typically plowed no more than once per day during major storms and may become impassable due to packed snow, ice, or snow accumulation between plowings. In such cases, guests must either carry and install chains or park at the bottom of the road and arrange to use the 4WD Polaris UTV (equipped with heavy duty studded tires and an enclosed heated cab) to access the property. Guests should rely on their judgment, experience, and the weather forecast to assess road conditions. When unsure, err on the side of caution and arrange to use the UTV. The UTV is only for accessing the property when necessary during winter storms and is not for trail riding.

Note: There is no cell phone reception in the area, but the home offers high-speed Wi-Fi.

Hi there! My name is Nathaniel (I also go by Nat) and I've lived in Boulder for 19 years. I moved from California to study at CU, fell in love with Boulder and never left. I enjoy daydreaming about design, working with wood and metal, gardening, cooking, and spending time with my 7 year old daughter. I designed the mountain home in my listing and built it as a passion project on and off over 10 years. It is a pleasure to share it with guests.
