A versatile space, in a classic neighborhood for an affordable rate. It's our actual home while we're in Brooklyn, but it can be yours when we're elsewhere. Our home is as earnest as it is interesting and we wish the same of your experience here.
Our TWO ROOM APARTMENT is on the second floor of a secure four floor walk-up on a corner in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
We have up to FOUR FULL SIZE SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS that can fit 1 or 2 people each.
Guests have the full run of the apartment and are free to use whatever is there. Nothing is shared with anyone outside your party.
Interaction with Guests
You may meet us upon arrival and if you would like we would be happy to go out with you for a walk or a drink, otherwise you're on your own to enjoy our home and city. If you need anything from our end we're a simple message away.
Today, Bed-Stuy is the diamond peaking out of the rough - people are just starting to catch on to what us locals have had the privilege of knowing all along, and now you can be part of it. You can just stroll for blocks and blocks immersing yourselves in the beautiful brownstones. That walk can take you to some great local food and drinks, put you on a bus to go anywhere in the borough or to a train to the bombast of Manhattan.
The nearest train station is the J/M @ Myrtle/Broadway. (5 min bus ride or 10/15 min walk from apartment)
The J travels to the financial district. The M travels to 53rd st. along 6th ave.
Common Travel times (door to door)
30 min to Chinatown & Little Italy.
45 min to Times Square.
We are also along several bus lines: B38- Fort Greene's Restaurants in 20 mins, B52, Downtown Brooklyn Shopping in 30 min, B43, Greenpoint in 40 min, B44 Williamsburg in 30 min.
We are most easily and least expensively reached from JFK airport. At Terminal 5, there is a local bus, the B15 that takes about an hour but only cost 2.75, with the added bonus of stopping at my corner. If you arrive at LGA, I would advise taking a metered taxi - it typically costs around $30.
There is typically an ample amount of parking on the street around our apartment. Just be advised by the regulations dictated by the signs posted.
Other Things to Note
Last minute requests (fewer than 3 days notice) and single night arrangements are subject to higher per night prices at the host's discretion. Please make note of this when you are planning your arrangements.
To our guests visiting us during temperatures below 32F, as an unfortunate symptom of it being below freezing in the basement where the water heater is, the metal pipes expand as the steam rises causing an abrupt clank, This happens when the heat comes on at around 8am. I apologize for the inconvenience. Winter dates are preemptively reduced in price as a result of seasonal inconveniences.
All we ask is you treat the place like a home and remain discreet with our neighbors. If anyone questions you, you're our friends visiting from out of town. As you may know, New York has been hostile to its hosts as of late and we want to make sure we can continue to offer wonderful experiences to wonderful people.
Finally, if there are any significant mishaps, please report them to us immediately. Oh, and have fun! You're in the greatest city world after all!
Brilliantly light and airy apartment.
Excellent vibes and everything you could need.
Brilliant location and Lester was very easy to contact and converse with.
Unfortunately, I was not able to make it to the city due to a family emergency, but Lester was an incredibly responsive and efficient communicator. I appreciate his kindness and generosity, and will certainly hope to stay in his apartment in the future.
I'm a 22 year old woman who's lived in NY for the past 4 years, so that can provide some context. The apartment seems somewhat creepy on the outside, especially at 2 am, but inside the apartment was notably cute. From the description/photos, I couldn't tell for sure if it had a real bed, but it does (quite comfy), along with 2 other sleeping pads that could come in handy. The apartment definitely seems like 2 cool, unique people live there, so if you want a vibe for Brooklyn life, this is the place to go. It's got a lot of cool art and posters on the walls. Cute neighborhood, and I felt safe walking home alone late at night. Lester was quickly responsive to everything I asked, and everything was as he said it would be. I never met Lester, so if you're interested in being left alone, this is a good place. The neighbors woke me up early fighting, but Lester can't help that, and most of NY will be like that. It might be helpful to know that the lockbox with the keys in it is very small, not a big box hanging on a wall, and you have to look down to see it; I wouldn't have seen it without my friend pointing it out. Definitely a good call if you're interested in staying in Brooklyn. I'd do it again.
These two are the bomb. Great hosts. Responsive, friendly, helpful and patient. Highly recommend.
Lester and Mary are really welcoming. Our flight was delayed and they waited us till 2 AM which I am really grateful for.
The place is cozy. The only problem is that when someone in the apartment is using hot water, there will be some noise coming out from the pipes which are located in both rooms. For this issue, if you are not a person who can easily fall asleep, it might be better for you to look for other places. Other than this, Lester and Mary's place is definitely a good place to stay.
Sorry about that noise Claire, it's an unfortunate symptom of it being quite a bit below freezing in the basement where the water heater is. The metal pipes expand as the steam rises and the acoustics do the rest. Thank you for taking the time to forewarn others and highlighting your otherwise pleasant visit. I haven't quite found a solution for it yet, but I will update my listing to reflect your criticism.
Notre hôte a été formidable et nous a conseillé pleins de bons plans. L'endroit est parfait et le rooftop avec la vue de Manhattan vraiment magnifique.
