Come stay with us @Dragonfly Ranch. Rent the Bunkhouse, bring your horses, plan a wedding, photo shoots, or just needing a bit of horse therapy? We have electric and propane lights so there is an option for our amish patrons or just those curious to how things work on a family horse farm. This is not a hotel or city type setting. We are smack dab in the middle of God's country. No street lights..just a blanket of stars that look close enough to touch on a clear night.
The space
This is a family owned and operated Ranch / Horse Farm. We work and live here and in the surrounding areas. When you come here we welcome you into this as our guest. We do not stop our routine while guests are here and welcome an extra hand if guests feel a desire to participate. We love sharing our lil slice of heaven and giving folks a glimpse into farm life. You can get involved and interact if you want or keep to yourself and watch from a distance. We are not able to be here everyday because we do work off the Ranch and we also have to get supplies etc. If we miss you because of this we're sorry but if you are wanting to be sure I'm here during your stay please let me know when you book so I can try to make sure it happens for ya. We have Quarter Horses mostly,a mule, a Mustang, an appaloosa stallion, a few horses in training for clients and some rehab/rescue horses. They are all different just like kids with their own personality and habits. Here you just might fall in love with a 1200 lb beast of freedom and unbound beauty. We're totally fine with that. There's too much beauty here for me to be able to enjoy it all everyday so I'd like to share it with folks that may not be afforded the opertunity otherwise. I hope to be able to offer the Bunkhouse for folks to come make memories with loved ones and friends for years to come. So if you don't mind relaxing and watching the sun go down across a horses siloete on the horizon or getting dirty playing on the Ranch, We'd love to have you come stay a while with us. Just remember.we don't have the accent... you do🙂
Guest access
please respect the personal space of the Ranch House and if you are planning a midnight stroll please let us know so we can make safe and fun for you. if the barns are closed please do not enter them without permission or invite. Remember this is our home above all else and we want to share the blessings of the beautiful place we live . But we want to do it safely and with the respect of our guests. We are on a Ranch/Horse Farm and that in itself has it's own possibilities for dangerous situations. This is why we have rules to fallow. We also have thousands of acres of mammoth cave park at our back door so wildlife come into our fields and yard. All of this combined with our Ranch dogs that help keep coyote and any other dangers away, we ask that you let us know if you want to explore and do not interact with the animals without permission or proper instruction first. We encourage getting to know all of them but safely. we want good experiences rather than a bad one that can be avoided. please do not leave anything outside that can be packed off or torn up by critters including our curious puppy. please do not feed the dogs because that starts a bad habit of begging. But you can play tug or toss with them all day if you like. If you feed the horses treats (carrots, apples ,pears ,oatmeal cookies) please do so over the fence or gate. please do not interact with them without proper instruction. we want you to respect them and not fear them so please mind the rules. If you want to bring your dog, please get permission first and pay the fee. if allowed , list the pet on your booking information. If you bring a pet and do not take the proper steps , you will be charged a pet fee. We have this in place to avoid any issues with a guest not being a responsible pet owner. Thank you for reading and agreeing to all the rules.
Other things to note
There is a hot tub and fire pit. We have a grill/smoker to use and hammocks in the back yard. When using hot tub please get in clean and do not wear oils or lotions. Do Not sit on the lid. If water gets lower than the filter shield slats please tell us so the motor does not burn up. Propane lanterns inside the house can be used for light and a source of heat if there is a power outage, but please ask for instructions if you are not familiar with how they work. Wood stove is another way to heat the house and wood is available out back of the house. if you need help using it please ask. We also have radiator and space heaters in the house. Keep these a safe distance from furniture etc.
Remember that the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.
We are here to help you have a unique and wonderful stay.
The house accommodates up to 10 guests but the hot water heater is a 5 person propane heated unit. So if you have a large group and everyone takes a shower back to back...depending on how long each person showers...the 5th and 6th person will be taking a cold shower. let the water heat up at least 30 minutes between showers if you want a hot shower. Please do not unplug or leave hot tub uncovered in winter. if this happens when you stay and the hot tub freezes, you will be charged. Please let us know if you need anything else while you're here. Horse time, riding, experiences can be arranged for extra fee ..just contact us prior to your visit or as you book.
