Danke Tania :-)
My stay at Casa Munaycha was very pleasant. The facility was clean, well maintained and the location is terrific. The host family and staff were very helpful. The price very reasonable. I have no reservations recommending this facility.
Let me preface this with, this is not my review, it's the review of the experience of my friend who also stayed at Munaycha with me. I thought the place was clean and one of the better places I stayed at in Cusco and would have liked to stayed there longer had this unfortunate incident not happened.
Funny how some people faced with taking just a little responsibility will 'break bad' and seemingly change as their true character emerges.
Unfortunately their dog Peggy bit my right hand. I gently pet her on the head and boom, I'm bleeding on the courtyard cement while my hand swells like a balloon
They hadn't bothered to mention that cute Peggy has a little biting habit. So I go to the doctor, takes antibiotics, takes pain pills and consider getting a painful course of rabies shots.
Meanwhile we are now stuck in Cusco for the 10 day rabies waiting period, after which the dog gets examined. True to form, they made me pay for the dog's examination.
As you might guess, I felt very badly treated by the hotel owners, especially Blanca, who not only never apologized, but actually lied to us by saying all their rooms were full (we checked on line) so I would have no place to stay while recovering. They also never apologized. Character counts.
By the way, they were very nice before all this, while taking our money. But as soon as the dog bit, the superficial congeniality stopped, and they couldn't get rid of us fast enough.
Their behavior was contemptible.
By the way, don't blame the dog. He was just an innocent.
There should be a sign in the courtyard: Do not pet dog, Beware of owners.
This place is actually behind a school, so it is off the street which was nice. The rooms were super clean and the terrace view was amazing! Highly recommend staying here if you are in Cusco!
We had a great stay at Tania's. Our room was clean and the bathroom had hot water. The view outside the room (second floor) was gorgeous; it felt like we were in an oasis because it opened up into a beautiful courtyard filled with flowers and plants. Her roof terrace, where you take a simple breakfast of bread and jam, also had a gorgeous view looking into the city. The place is located inside a school, but we were already awake by the time the kids started school so the noise was not a problem.
We had an excellent stay at Casa Munaycha. It IS a bit difficult to find as it's at the very back of a school (you have to go through the school to reach it) and we were a bit confused upon arrival. However once you figure out how to get there it was a lovely place to stay.
The view from our room was beautiful and the two women we met (Tania and another lady who was in charge of breakfast and gave us our keys etc.) were very helpful and friendly. We left our things in the hotel while doing the Inca Trail and were even given a breakfast to-go by Tania for the morning we left on the hike. This was very appreciated and a really nice touch.
We were so excited to get back to a comfortable bed and hot showers after the hike and Munaycha provides both. We would definitely stay here again, it's very close to the main square (Plaza de Armas), clean and comfortable with lots of blankets for warmth. Highly recommend this Hospedaje!
