Very nice apt ALBAYZIN-CATEDRAL

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Calle de la Calderería Nueva, Granada, Andalusia 18010, Spain

The Space

Very comfortable apartment ideal for holidays, in the heart of Granada, located in one of the most characteristic and famous streets of the center, Teahouses Street (Caldereria nueva). The flat has 3 bedrooms, 2 with double bed and one individual, kitchen with dining room, bathroom and a terrace where you can see spectacular part of the Alhambra, Sierra Nevada, the Cathedral and the Albayzin.
Best of floor is definitely the location. We are in the neighborhood of Albayzin, Arab neighborhood, world heritage site, with its narrow cobblestone streets, in the third and last floor of a typical house in the neighborhood. On leaving the house we are in a typical Arab suk with many Arab shops and many local called "Teterias" where you can taste the typical green tea with mint and smoking a cachimba in a typical environment of the Arabian night.
At 100 meters we have Plaza Nueva, cross between the center and the Alhambra Albayzin. From this place we can access the famous castle through the beautiful forest of the Alhambra (20 minutes walk from the house). We can also choose another route and walk along the Paseo de los Tristes (Carrera del Darro), picturesque street that runs along the river Darro.
In just 3 minutes walk from the house and across the Gran Via de Colon, where there are bus stops for airport and bus station, we reach the imposing Cathedral of Granada and we are in the city center with all its shops and squares.
Next to the house there are dozens of bars and restaurants open late for night owls and Kebab's open all night.
In spite of the excellent location, the apartment is very quiet and peaceful, bright and airy.
In the house there is available internet with USB (not wifi). It work with computer and ipad with adaptador.

  • I have lived in Granada before so I picked this apartment for its bohemian chic, excellent location and fantastic price. The location could not be better - on the famous Moroccan street off Calle Elvira. The Moroccan street is lined with artesian shops and tea roommate whilst Elvira hosts a plethora of bars and some of the best tapas in Granada. Plaza Nueva is really close too about 3 mins walk from the flat and from there you are close to the Alhambra and a lovely stroll along the river.

If you continue up the Moroccan street then you reach the Albayzin which is an amazing unique place - filled with creativity, cobbled streets and amazing picturesque sites.

The flat itself is nice too. Two bedrooms are linked therefore one bedroom can only be accessed by going through the other, and then there us one private room. This wasn't a problem for us though and overall the flat was cosy and very well equipped! I loved the bohemian colours throughout the flat and the roof terrace is the icing on the cake!

  • We had a great visit to Granada and loved staying in Federica's apartment. Federica met us in the pedestrian street in front of the apartment and was so friendly and helpful. The door to the apartment house opens right onto a narrow cobblestone street lined with Arab shops and cafes. We started our visit with some Moroccan mint tea and pastries just 2 doors from the apartment.
The apartment itself is not fancy or newly renovated, but it was clean and has plenty of room for 4 - 6 people. For us it was a great apartment for the price. The roof terrace is great. We ate breakfast up there (pastries and fruit from shops we walked to within a few minutes of the apartment) and loved the view. You can see the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains, the big Granada cathedral and the roofs of hundreds of houses in the neighborhood. Since this apartment is on the 4th floor, it is not suitable for everyone. But for us it was perfect.
You can walk to the beautiful main cathedral in 5 minutes. The apartment is also a 5 minute walk to the bus stop on Gran Via de Colón where you can take the #30 bus to the Alhambra for 1.20 Euros. The Alahambra is amazing and the night visit to the Palacios Nazaríes in the Alhambra was truly magical. My young kids happily spent over 6 hours walking around the gardens and fortress in the Alhambra.
The location of the apartment was so good that we did not need a car. We mostly walked or took the bus, and a few times a taxi.
It cost us less than 5 Euros to travel between the Granada train station and the apartment (for 3 people) in a taxi.
Thank you, Federica. We definitely recommend your apartment.

  • Federica was a wonderful host and the apartment was just perfect for our 4 days in Granada. It was great to be able to walk out straight onto a busy little street of Arabic shops in the Islamic Quarter and you really get a feel for the city. The roof terrace was lovely for a morning coffee and the apartment had plenty of room for 3 people.

    Response from Federica:

  • The apartment was great. It is on an amazing street with shops and tea cafes all around. It is very close walking to all of the important stuff like Calle Elvira and The Alhambra. I only wish I could have stayed longer in Granada. The decor in the apartment is colorful and a fun place to stay during your vacation. In February it was a bit cold but there are small heaters and there were plenty of blankets there. You really could accommodate about 7 people here. You can't stay here if you aren't capable of walking up a few flights of stairs. I would stay here again.

  • The location is brilliant, right in the centre of the "Arab quarter". We visited in early January, it was very quiet and we enjoyed access to the roof top. We never met the host but she was reliable and would have offered advise if needed. The one shortcoming was not enough hot water produced by the boiler. We were a group of four and hence learned after the first morning to take quick/er showers. This should be less of a problem during summer months. Definitely recommended!
