Gerard (ALEX) and his family is waiting to WELCOME you to spend your holiday in Kandy and to experience the real living style of a Sri Lankan family.
Our stay at Kandy was very brief (only for 2 nights) but Gerard's place was perfect to explore the place. We did not use public transport but rather opted to walk around.
The guesthouse was amazing with a kitchen and very clean restroom. Everything we needed was provided, even a garage for our rental car. Gerard was very nice and helpful!
Gerard was an excellent host, and the flat was everything I had hoped for having read previous positive reviews. Definitely recommend. Thanks!
Жильё лучше чем может показаться на фото, постельное бельё чистое, апартаменты так же в отличном состоянии. Есть wi-fi. Жерард прекрасный человек, отличный собеседник и гид. Мои рекомендации.
Gerard's home stay is situated a short distance from Central Kandy. The accommodation has plenty of room for two and the patio is a bonus. Gerard and his wife were very pleasant and happy to chat. Breakfasts were Sri Lankan and dinner was available at the weekend. The cost of this was very reasonable.
One negative about this property is the noise caused by local dogs. We came home late, around midnight, after a day trip and this caused the dogs to bark which continued for about 2 hours. This happened on our last night and this time with no prompting from us. Again it continued for a very long time. If sleep is important to you or you are a light sleeper you may wish to consider this point.
Gerard and his wife are really very nice and helpful people, they even had some sweets and tea to welcome us!!! The appartement is like shown on the picture, it looks very nice and we felt welcome.
The appartement is hard to find and on a hill, wich was ok for us because we had a driver. Also, because of the window design there are some areas without glas, so it's hard to get the mosquitos out, but that's more my problem cause these animals just find and bite me so easily... :-) Nice place for this price... and more important, very very nice people.
Gerards house was nice and clean, Great view and nice sitting on the balcony. I came to know more about Sri Lanka staying with this family they were so willing to share information as well tourist as daily life.
Very nice and comfortable place! about 10 min from centre of Kandy by tuk-tuk, with amazing view from your veranda, TV, wi-fi, kitchen and good bedroom. Cleanly and tidily. Gerard Alexander and his wife are very pleasant people, which help you in all your questions.
If you like to be free, without any schedule time as in hotel, if want to feel yourself like home - it's really nice choice!
Staying with Alex was an incredible experience. From the outset he made sure everything I needed was looked after, picking me up from the station, showing me all of the best local places to get food, giving me real inside knowledge on the local area.
I was then invited by Alex to join him and his friends on a tour of some of the less visited sites, the following day. I was taken on the most amazing trek thru jungle and rice paddies, shown 14th C temples that were away from the throng of tourist crowds. Along the way we stopped at villages, and I was treated to amazing local knowledge about everything from plants to local culture. It was incredible. By the end of this day, and of my stay with Alex, I felt as though I had made real friends and got to understand the real Sri Lanka.
Alex's accommodation is entirely wonderful, I experienced no better in my stay in Sri Lanka. Alex is amongst the most generous people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. His home stay is impeccable and what he adds to your stay is invaluable. I cannot recommend him enough.
Lovely stay at Gerard's place. He and his family were very accommodating and great hosts, they arranged a cot for our baby, picked us up from the station, and helped us organise excursions. The apartment's veranda has great views, and is a good place to relax. The flat has everything you need & plenty of space. It's also close to a supermarket, which was helpful for us. we weren't offered breakfast, which wasn't a problem but the website led us to believe it was included. The only other downside is that it is a tuk tuk ride away from the centre of town, but this does mean the flat is peaceful and away from the bustle of kandy!
Our stay at Gerard's place was very relaxing and friendly. The suit on rent is an independent bedsitter with a very nice open kitchen and a lovely veranda with a view.
Overall it was a good experience.
