My wife, 1yr. old son, and I stayed here while on vacation and had a wonderful experience! Ximena is a wonderful lady that goes above and beyond to make your stay a great experience. She made sure we had everything we needed for our little one and offered more. She gave us a ride, good suggestions and info for seeing the city and was great with communicating with us before and while we were there. I hope you get the chance to meet her. She describes the place accurately, and the other reviewers are helpful. It is a comfortable studio apt. and allows you to experience what living in Buenos Aires is like for the locals, thus, it's like walking into a friend's place...a clean & tidy friend. Quiet place but just a block away from a major street with lots of things to see & do along with many bus routes. Very easy to see the city between walking and buses. Highly recommend staying here- good place, great location, and excellent host!

The check in and check out was smooth. I didn't meet Ximena but Mike, who lives next door to the studio. Ximena was very quick to reply and helpful, too. Good host. The experience in itself was disappointing. The photos do a great job into making you think you're getting into a quality place when you're actually not. The bed was comfortable and that's about it. The air conditioner was in such a bad shape that it cycled between working good, to making loud clacking noises to even spitting out water from the fans! It was so unreliable that I couldn't use it that much, which wasn't fun since it was already hot at that time of the year. The window handles (as every handle in the whole studio or building, actually) were damaged so opening it was hurdle. The kitchenette is barely usable really, no space at all. The bathroom was ok but even the toilet paper was low quality. The brush you use to clean up the toilet was amazingly dirty. Special mention about the wi-fi: awful reception. The router (nicely placed hanging from its own cable on the outer wall of the studio) just didn't have enough signal strength to cover the whole place which was very small. Forget about relying on it for work (which I had to). A few words must be said about the building itself. I don't know, but it seems no one takes care of that place since the 50's. It is -very- run down, walls dripping, dirty floors, elevators would break down often and the porter that works there is as rude as you can get, if he ever was there, which wasn't often. The whole building looked like some run down mental institution. The neighbourhood is nice, but noisy. Still, it's one of the safest zones in buenos aires, so that's a plus. It was very cheap, so I suppose you get what you pay for. I just think many of the other reviews are very biased. The place is OK if you're staying for a couple of nights I guess. If you're looking for something other that a very basic place to sleep in, look elsewhere.

Response from Ximena:
It is unfortunate that you did not mention problems with the WiFi, as none of our other guests have ever had problems with the relatively fast 10MB connection. The air conditioning unit problems were brought to our attention by the guests that followed you and it was repaired in the same day. We do mention in our ad that the building, while in an excellent location, does show a bit of its age. We do recommend that you communicate with hosts about issues such as these as we are very quick to respond, but we were not aware of anything until your review, which is too late for us to do anything. We do hope you enjoy your future travels!

Ximena was an excellent hostess! I booked her studio at the last minute due to an emergency change of plans, and she was personally there for me every step of the way. She gave great suggestions of what to do in Buenos Aires and made me feel immediately at home. The studio has all the basics, including an air conditioner and a small kitchen, and is located in the very upscale Recoleta neighborhood, where I felt safe. The apartment building has seen better days, but the studio unit itself has been maintained well and was very clean. If you are looking for an affordable way to stay in one of the best neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, I recommend this studio.

The apartment is very clean and the location is ideal! The apartment is small and cozy. Ximena is such a nice, helpful and educated person. She was available whenever I had any questions/comments. I definitely recommend her as a host, she was wonderful! A few things that need to be noted: The building is old and could use some maintenance, the internet is not good, its very intermitent (She will send someone to check it in the next few days). There are a few tiny roaches (Ximena sent somebody to take care of them quickly), and the street can get a bit noisy at night.

I am an absolute Buenos Aires lover, I really adore my city and most of all the Recoleta district where I was born. Mother of four, started this hosting business in 2004 when my third child was four years old and about to start school all day long. The prospect of a lot of spare time made me look out for something to do that could be compatible with raising kids, so here I am hosting travelers in my spot in the world, sharing all my tips and secrets. Buenos Aires, Recoleta. I hope you enjoy your stay!
