We offer our home so you won't have to pay expensive San Francisco hotel rates and spend more of your money enjoying your tour and sightseeing part of your vacation.
There are dogs in the household. What you get is a room on the third level. You will be sharing the bathroom with R. -a retired, quiet and flexible lady who is enjoys meeting people. My elderly parents stay on the second floor. I live in the master's bedroom on the third level.
Our house is 5 miles to Downtown located in the Excelsior neighborhood, one block from Mission St. From The Mission, it is directly on several MUNI bus lines that will take you to downtown and the heart of the MIssion District where you will be struck with a variety of taquerias, produce markets, bakeries, thrift stores, beauty salons, cafes and trendy restaurants. Or just take a walk down the block to Mission St to get a taste of the neighborhood's history and Latin culture. It is 15 to 20 minutes to downtown by car and double that time if by public transport. 10 to 12 mins to SFO (airport). Nearby is the Manila Oriental Store, Safeway and Goldilocks Bakery, and the famous Joe's Cable Car Burgers along Mission St. BART Glen Park Station is within walking distance a few blocks away or take the MUNI bus stop right across the street on Silver Ave. to the BART providing direct access to the airport, East Bay and downtown San Francisco. Several restaurants, grocery stores, fruit stands are within walking distance.
This room has bay windows with wood shutters, hardwood floors, a good size closet with sliding mirrored doors. Furnished with a King-sized bed, dresser, a table and chairs, 40 inch LED Hi Definition TV with DirecTV cable.
Should you have a car, free street parking around the block/s (just watch out for street cleaning days/ times).
What makes a vacation rental fun, especially in San Francisco, is staying in an area where there aren't any/many hotels and be away from the areas with a high tourist concentration.
We are outside the INNER CITY limits away from the traffic, craziness and loud noises but still within reach of the hustle and bustle of the city. Walk down along Mission St or take the bus to explore and enjoy the many taquerias, fruit/meat stands, thrift and dollar stores, shops, groceries, bars and restaurants as well as enjoy the Latin culture. For confirmed reservations, I would need your check in and check out times as soon as you can let me know to help me plan ahead.
Check-in is 3 pm but if you should have an earlier arrival time, you can leave your luggage/bags in our place while you go about town. Check out is 12 noon but likewise, if you have a late flight or check-out, you can leave your luggage in the garage area and come back til you are ready for your departure.
Transportation from he Airport:
BART (rail transit) $9 one way. Get off Glen Park station and take 44 bus line to Lisbon St. House is in the corner of Lisbon and Silver Ave. or you can walk from the station about 5 to 6 blocks.
Shuttle approximately $28
Taxi approximately $40
Joey's airport-to-door or vice versa $25 per trip (depending on availability). Let me know if you want to use his service and I can schedule with him. He does not accept tips.
Definitely no smoking in the house or premises. No partying or any heavy drinking. It's ok to come in late at night or early morning. It doesn't bother us. We are quite flexible, laid back people, clean but not neat freak.
We give and expect mutual respect, kindness and understanding.
We want to make your experience as wonderful for you as possible. Please let us know as soon as possible if you have any problems, questions or concerns.
We are near bus lines and busy street for cars and passers-by. There is unavoidable normal city noise/ activity.
There is no maid service and no cleaning fees but we will be happy to clean the room or change the linens or empty the trash, etc for free upon request.
Note: Please we ask that you don't expect hotel accomodations. We don't have the resources nor the manpower to do what they can. Whatever we can provide short of that is already calculated into the price of the room. We are not located near downtown like some hotels but this way, you see more of San Francisco compared to just staying in that area. If you go closer to downtown, you may have to sacrifice price, safety and noise and traffic associated with the inner city.
We are not located near the coast or bay since we are in the city.If you want the coast or the bay, you may have to sacrifice price, not accesible to many public transport, a little farther from the downtown area and other points of interests, etc.
We appreciate your support of airbnb and small businesses. We put a lot of effort in this so we can share our homes with you at much lower prices compared to hotels. We try to provide you the best possible accomodations. For any shortcomings, our apologies. Your input/ suggestions are welcome so we can continue to improve and give the best we possibly can.
Luz is a really nice person. She is kind, considerate, and welcoming. She not only gave us fruits & bottle water to welcome us, but also lots of useful tips to travel in SF. The room is comfortable and the bed is great. The transportation to downtown can be achieved by Bart and Muni, which are all convenient. Highly recommend this place! Thanks Luz.
Luz is an amazing person!! She is always concern and she always want you to have a great stay.
The room is also amazing. I really recommend this place. You can not be dissapointed !
my stay at luz's place was just great!!
Luz was very welcoming at all times. Room was cozy and comfortable. Thank you, Luz, for your concern of our grandbaby. Thank you for always being helpful and welcoming.
Luz was incredibly sweet and welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed during our stay. She even filled the fridge with water bottles for us. We liked the spacious room and the comfy bed. We believe the location and especially the bus ride to downtown offers an authentic insight into local living. Thanks Luz!
Luz was a wonderful host. Furnishings were clean and she was very helpful throughout our stay.
Although her place is a fair distance from the city as described, it's in proximity to several bus lines. Getting around without a car was no problem (tip: using the smartphone apps Hopstop or Transit takes a lot of the guesswork out of the equation)
Luz was incredibly sweet and the room was a great space in a great location for us because we rented a car and didn't want to deal with paid parking. We could park right out front! The king size bed was a real treat too! We tend to keep to ourselves and spend most of our time exploring when traveling, and that was no issue for Luz. We left early and came late without feeling like we were disturbing anyone. Even we when spent the afternoon relaxing and watching tv, it felt very private and had no disturbances. I would recommend this place to anyone!
During our vacation in San Francisco in January 2014 we stayed at Luz's Haus for almost one week. She was always nice and helpful to us, gave us a lot of useful tips, we appreciated it a lot! Our room was very clean and tidy, she even prepared snacks, drinks and important information to traveler before we arrived. We want to say thank you to her and wish her all the best!

My name is Luz. I'm originally from the Philippines. I first moved to Kansas City, Missouri where I first worked as an RN. Then I moved here in San Francisco where I continue to work as a health care professional. I love meeting people from all over the world.
