  • Absolutely perfect, exactly what we were looking for. It's a typical old house in the French Riviera, very close to all things wonderful in the south of France. The apartment is charming, very private with your own garden. You have your own parking space which is essential in the south of France, especially in summer. Because the house is old and charming it does not have all the modern conveniences but you have everything you need and it's the real French experience (I can stay home to have all the mod cons!). Even my friends who live in Mandelieu are going to recommend it to their friends when they come to visit.
Matthieu's grandmother is there for anything you need otherwise she leaves you your privacy.
We will definitely stay again during our next visit and can't wait!

  • A great place to stay. Rustic setting but had everything we needed. Matthieu lives in Paris but is very good with communication. When we arrived we needed to contact him as Grandma (who owns the house we think) wasn't expecting us and doesn't speak English, and he sorted it out immediately. Communication problem. Studios have great outlook onto the garden. House is 5 mins walk to the bus. Number 20 goes to Cannes one way and the train station in Mandelieu the other way. Beaches and castle at train station end and fabulous large market 5 minutes walk from the house on a Wednesday morning. Would return

  • We stayed at La Buissonière in August 2013 and were welcomed by Mathieu’s friendly grandmother.
The pros are the flexible check-in and check-out time, the onsite parking and the quiet neighbourhood.
There were a few cons: the place is antiquated, especially the kitchen and bathroom. Although everything was working properly, we felt as if going back into time. We hadn’t used a gas stove and non-mixing taps for about 20 years. I did try to avoid creating false expectations by asking for more pictures (several times) prior to making our reservation but Mathieu said he couldn’t send me those. When time was pushing, we decided to book the place anyway. If we would have seen pictures of the sanitary facilities in advance, we wouldn’t have booked the place.
On our first day, we decided to enjoy the garden and have dinner outside. 5 minutes later we were chased back inside by a wasp and numerous mosquitoes. We dined inside for all of the other days.
We were given anti-mosquito coils but those didn’t help. Even when I had 35% DEET all over, we still were left with 35 mosquito bites each (they just bit on the soles of our feet or probably in the morning, when the DEET was nearly worn off.) There were not so many mosquitoes in other places in Mandelieu. The insectsplague is probably due to the still brook next to the (email hidden) would have been the only efficient thing, but there was none.
The mattress had a non-perforated wooden board underneath so there was no possibility for ventilation at all.
There was a very unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom (probably a problem with the pipes.)
The drain in the shower didn’t work properly. After showering for just a few minutes, there would be water up to the top of the basin so we had to stop showering (there was a note saying that there would be a big fine for anyone who tried tampering with the drain. Clearly a problem they are aware of but hasn’t been solved so far.)
Since Belgians are used to recycling glass and plastic bottles, we kept ours aside, hoping to find a separate container which we couldn’t find anywhere. We even searched for them on the street but couldn’t find them (upon arrival we weren’t given the explanation about where to put the trash either.)
One day, Mathieu’s grandmother came at our door saying she and her husband didn’t feel very well and she just quickly wanted to check if everything was fine. I felt pity for her and didn’t want to bother her with the trash-issue.
In retrospect I’d say I had better asked her where the containers were, because we’ve now been judged as people not wanting to throw away our trash.
I don’t want to be negative about Mathieu’s grandmother cause she was friendly and definitely tries her best but it would be good if she got some help from a younger person.

  • We had a wonderful time at the French Riviera and the Mathieus studio was the perfect base to start our trips from since it is so well located. (not too far from the beaches, really close to Cannes, Nizza, Antibes etc.) The Studio is perfectly equipped and even fresh drinks were waiting for us on our arrival. Mathieu wasn't in town so his mother and grandmother welcomed us and showed us around. They were really lovley and provided us with lots of useful tips for nearby shopping facilities etc. To sum it up it is the ideal place to stay for a Côte d'Azur holiday.

  • My sister and I stayed 3 days at Mathieus grandparents house, the rental rooms are in the first floor of the house in which they live. The loction is very private, yet inside a nice community called Mandelieu-La-Napoule, right next to Cannes. We had a car, so it was easy getting around. At first, we did not find La Napoule in the GPS, and tried to call Matheiu several times. Then, we finally entered Mandelieu on the GPs, and the street name was then avaliable. We gor a little nervous because we thought we would not be able to get there.Mrs. LaChat, his grandmother, was very attentive to our needs and provided us with little treats, like coffee, home made confiture and a fruit basket...these things do make a difference when you are away from home...The location is very nice and secure, with a beautiful garden.

  • The flat is really cozy and the location is great. If you want to stay aroud Grasse, Cannes and Nice, that is a great place to stay.

The Mathieu's grandparents are really nice. Unfortunately we dont speak french so we couldn't talk som much with them.

The annonce offered washing machine but the changed the rules about use that. For us was really important have a maching machne and that was really disappont.

AirBnB, Mathieu and we found a friendly and fair solution.

Concerning about the staying, It's a good place and we highly recommend.

  • Mathieu's flat was a wonderful base for exploring Cote d'Azure located near Cannes, public transport, the main freeway, and a terrific boulangerie. Despite my limited French, his grandparents were quite sweet and accommodating and Mathieu himself was terrifically responsive over email.
