A quote from a recent guest
"This is probably the coolest house in the coolest neighborhood on the big island. You'll be in Seaview, a block from the lavarock shore. Seaview is filled with friendly island hippies who say hi when they pass you, and everyone knows the Triangle House. Some people know it as the "Cheese House," because it looks like a wedge of swiss cheese lying on its side, with each window a porthole. This is my favorite neighborhood in the 4 that I've stayed at on the big island (kailua-kona/captain cook, hilo, volcano/mt view, na'alehu/ocean view). You're living in a gorgeous jungle, with great ocean access, a plethora of interesting artists and hippies, and the best neighborhood spirit I've seen. Every wednesday, the whole community of the Puna district ends up at a fair on the edge of civilization where the 1970 lava flow literally rolled over the city of Kalapana, called "Uncle Roberts at the End of the Road." I don't know a better way to say hello to a new community than that. Randall is a great host. He's a craftsman who cares a lot about the building, and is trying to improve its design for the people who stay in it. He's super easy to work with. He's been doing constant work on the property. It was designed by an architect who had a dream about "round holes and square pegs" and designed a property with a Triangle house, a Rectangle house, a Circle water catchman, and two Square sheds. There's also a real-life castle next-door. It's like living in a dream."

We had a great experience staying at Randy's home. Randy happened to be there when we arrived so we were able to ask a few questions about places to visit nearby. His property has many banana trees, and he graciously shared some with us. We're still talking about how good they were! The master bed was fantastic, as was the pillows. We slept very comfortably. Our two boys stayed downstairs and also slept well. We were all fascinated by the rooftop and spent time up there enjoying the scenery. I would highly recommend reading other reviews on what sites are nearby and getting directions. There are some wonderful things to see. (warm ponds, tide pools, beach, farmer's market...) We would have no problem staying here again and can't thank Randy enough for providing such a great experience.
My family and I had a wonderful vacation! Randall's place is beautiful and I so much enjoyed waking up with an ocean view every morning!
Thank you Randall for everything!
Lovely, well-equiped, clean condo near the shore. Only downsides were that it was a bit out of the way - about 30 minutes south of Pahoa - and that the fans run on timers, which meant they couldn't run overnight so it got a bit stuffy. Still, a great place to stay, particularly if you are looking for a more secluded getaway. The views from the lanai and rooftop patio were amazing!
We had a great stay at the apartment! The view is beautiful - there are two balconies that overlook the ocean. We sat outside every morning and had breakfast with an awesome view! The neighborhood was nice as well but it is a little removed - the closest grocery store is a good 20-25 minute drive but it's not a big deal if you plan in advance. The apartment was a great space and has a full kitchen - it was great for cooking dinner. Randall was really helpful and very responsive. We loved our stay - it was perfect for our trip.
Randall's place is amazing! It had everything we needed along with a stunning view!
This was a remote and lovely setting. The apartment is spacious, beautifully decorated and well organized. We were very comfortable. The host gave us recommendations on the nearby beaches. Bring food since the restaurants in Pahoa are about 30 minutes away.
In all, we had a great 7 nights/days staying in that wonderful open, spacious, 3 floor rental with such a great view over the ocean. Get it either from the breakfast/dinner first floor lanai, or from the relaxing afternoon second floor lanai or even with spectacular star watching in the night from the roof top. Perfect for us to calm down (after 4 months travelling), enjoying the laid back atmosphere in that area, a very unique landscape, in a very special place to stay. The open-room shower with view is great itself. Check out the unique scenery at the Kehena Beach, nude or not, it's an adventure and just a great ocean side (sun until early afternoon only!). Besides, the lava areas are very interesting or simply enjoy the "Nothing really have to do" groove all over that hippie dominated jungle area. Only issues: lots of bugs on the balcony and also some inside as soon as light is on (they are harmless and just sit at the ceiling/wall) but not that comfortable for dining outside, but then again, you are in the jungle. On the other hand we had hardly any mosquitos :-)
We had a little difficult interaction at the beginning with Randall, the owner, he didn't really notice that we booked his rental, therefore he was a little surprised as we knocked on his door in the late evening as we arrived after a long drive down there (lucky he was at home), but he set up everything in a hour, and well - we did the cleaning the next day by our own, it was all a bit sticky.
Very unique piece of earth, very calm, just relax!
