Our 23' vintage 1976 Avion Travelcader and hot tub are nestled on 2.5 private acres in the sparse & wild northern part of Joshua Tree, with almost no light pollution and a zillion stars. 15 minutes to Landers or Joshua Tree village - but feeling a thousand miles from anything. The trailer is small & cozy, with a grill, a hot tub, stocked kitchen, 2 twin beds, good WiFi, a TV, books & games for rainy days, propane fire pit, 2 hammocks, and tables to eat and work at.

The space
The trailer is meant to make the most of this outlying quiet and giant remote space in north Joshua Tree while also giving guests a space to daydream in the Coleman inflatable hot tub and watch movies in bed (Roku TV) and play music (Bluetooth speaker) and cook.

We have stocked the kitchen with basics like olive oil and good coffee beans, and pots and pans and knives and strainers, so you can properly cook, if desired. There's a grill, a microwave, and a gas stove (no oven!) The 1976 Avion Travelcader is almost totally original and restored, so for the vintage camper-lovers out there, we hope you enjoy it.

The last 3 miles to us are dirt roads & very bumpy, although drivable for all cars, and non-4WD vehicles usually have to take it slow, but hopefully the big-sky open space will make the trip worth the ride.

It's more protected than a tent but the experience should be thought of as camping to a degree. We have AC and heat but in very hot weather or very cold, those only help to an extent. We’ve also limited the outdoor lighting, so it can be very dark on moonless nights; we recommend a headlamp or phone flashlight as you don't want to step on a cholla cactus! We do often get strong winds up here, which can make a racket, and severe weather can also disrupt the Wifi. But the trailer is very sturdy.

The little shower has plenty of hot water. We supply towels and cozy bedding and lap blankets too for sitting outside and watching stars. We even made a little library of books you might like to flip through while hanging out in the hammock.

We live next door! We have two dogs, an Aussie Shepherd named Jackpot and a Chihuahua named Loverman. They are super sweet, and they can’t reach your property as there’s a full fence around ours, and they will sometimes come up to say hi to you through the fence. If they ever bark and bother you, please do not hesitate to let us know immediately! If they’re outside, that means we’re home and we can always bring them inside. We don’t want you to be bothered at all!

Where you’ll be

Joshua Tree, California, United States

Sunfair Heights is rural, wide open, and sparsely populated, which is what drew us out here. There are massive views of the mountains to the east and west and of the park to the south. The night sky out here can't be done justice, you just have to see it. Stunning dramatic sunsets and sunrises, shooting stars, and a sense of peace and quiet that is hard to find.
