We had a really wonderful time at Shane’s house! Although we can’t say our simple room had the amenities of a 5-star hotel, like a refrigerator, a coffee maker or welcoming fresh flower leis; from the house lanai we had a 180 + degrees marvelous view of Waikiki, Honolulu, across Pearl Harbor to the west end of the island. We witnessed storms, rainbows, and birds flying in formation like a nature show from the comfort of the lanai, a first class box seat! Also, a small refrigerator was on the lanai full of beer!
Shane’s home is uncluttered and organized, kind of unique for a single male. Shane is a pleasure to be and talk with. We share interests for organic gardening, food and nutrition. He has so much knowledge on the subject and is very articulated at sharing the info. We had one of Shane’s special smoothies made of super foods, it was delicious! Shane also does metal sculptures and loves creative enterprises - a real entrepreneur! His place is quiet, private, and just great!

While we didn't see very much of Shane during our stay at his place he was a gracious and kind host who gave us some great recommendations for spots to check in Honolulu.
The view from his lanai is just as special as it looks in the photos! In addition to the view probably the best thing about his spot is the location (very close to Waikiki/Honolulu/Diamond Head) and ample street parking which makes things super easy if you have a rental car (which we'd recommend).
The room itself is quite simple - just a bed and a desk - but quite adequate. Shane kindly provided towels (including beach towels).
Overall would recommend the spot for sure.
Shane is the perfect host and then some. He is flexible, thoughtful, intelligent and his place is amazing.
The bed was so comfy, great kitchen, lovely views and we really enjoyed playing shuffle board.
Honestly have nothing negative to say.
Shane you are a hero and your place is unreal.
Hawaii was awesome - the people, the beaches, the food, the weather, and the sights! Shane was friendly and gave great tips -The lanai and common areas had a breathtaking vista and fun games and activities -The room was simple and clean with a comfortable mattress (do note it's on the floor) -The neighborhood was only a short drive to Waikiki beaches and had easy highway access to go exploring. Can't wait to go back!
I could not have asked for a more perfect stay. Shane is the ultimate host and it’s clear from the moment he welcomes you into his home that he wants your stay to be as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Shane is very kind, thoughtful and considerate and went out of his way to make me feel at home. He often provided many helpful suggestions on things such as where to eat, where to sight see and explore, what beaches to visit, where to shop, and directions to each, to only mention a few. Shane’s home is beautiful, clean, and has the most breathtaking views ever! Shane’s home is located high on a hill and provides 5 star views over looking Waikiki, Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean. Shane’s home is centrally located and only a 5 to 10min drive to Waikiki Beach. There are plenty of restaurants and entertainment very close by with easy access to the main roads and parkways. Shane’s home is only minutes to everything you would want or need while on vacation and just as important the neighborhood is very quiet & peaceful. Aside from the beauty of convenience of it all I can honestly say that the time I spent talking with Shane himself was one of the most enjoyable parts of my vacation. He is very intelligent and knowledgeable on a variety of subjects and has the most amazing outlook on life. If you’re planning a trip to the Island of Oahu, you need look no further, staying with Shane will complete your dream vacation!
Shane was an awesome host, very accommodating and friendly. I would definitely recommend his spot to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Honolulu. The view of diamond head and the city skyline is maybe even better than the pics show.
What can I saw, we came to Shane's for the primo location, but we stayed for the homing pigeons that perform on his neighbor's rooftop every few hours... One of the most awesome things I saw in residential Honolulu for sure!
Our stay with Shane was absolutely terrific! The location is great: located above Waikiki, close to the highways, clean, fun and last but not least the amazing views (especially on fridays when you can see the fireworks). But the best part was Shane and his roommate Ryane!!! Shane provided us with great tips on what to do, we had alot of nice conversations, played games and he even took us with him to a set of Hawaii Five- O. Ryane was amazingly supportive too, giving us some inside infos and playing shuffleboard! There's so much more to add, but in a nutshell: We loved staying with Shane and Ryane who made our stay so much more special and if we ever come back, we can hopefully stay with you guys again! Highly recommended!!!!
