Beverly kept in contact with us prior to our arrival and was promptly waiting at the airport to pick us up. She took us to the apartment and gave a great overview of the place. Her divided notebook with all the house rules and directions for operating equipment along with suggestions on restaurants, shopping, sightseeing, and contact info left us very comfortable that we would enjoy our time. Her DVD collection was very organized and enjoyable during rest periods. A classy place that you will be proud to show pictures of when you get home. Beverly also made sure we had a convenient time to return the keys and then hailed us a cab so she knew we would get safely to the airport.
A great place to stay city center and loads of places to go walking distance. Would recommend Beverly's place to all.
Beverly is a wonderful and adept host. She understands the vagaries of travel in Ecuador and makes you feel welcome. The apartment is a jewel in the center of Cuenca.
This was my first time using airbnb and it could not have worked out better for me. I'm traveling extensively through South America and my mother decided to visit me while I'm traveling in Ecuador. We stayed in hotels in Quito and Baños, but this was better than staying in a hotel and cheaper too. The apartment is very well furnished. There is a well-equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, satellite tv, fast internet, a phone you can use to call the US, as well as cell phone for local usage. Everything was just as described in the listing. Clearly, Beverly has made every effort to make her guests feel at home here. She picked us up from the bus terminal and gave us a lot of good information on Cuenca, including interesting things to do, precautions, restaurants, etc. The apartment is in a great location as well. It's situated between a grocery store and a high-end hotel, and the main square is only a block away. It is both close to the sights and attractions of Cuenca and safe too. Overall, highly recommended.
Beverly's apartment was the absolutely perfect place for us to spend the last 6 nights of our 3 week stay in beautiful Ecuador. Beverly picked us up at the bus station, took us to the apartment, and spent about half an hour with us explaining Cuenca ad the apartment. The apartment is in a perfect location, and Beverly is the perfect host! We felt very much at home and were able to get to wherever we wanted very easily. The apartment was spotlessly clean and contained everything we could possibly need. If you're going to Cuenca, we don't think you could find a better place to stay.
First of all, Beverly is a wonderful person who will go out of her way in any way she can to help make your stay as comfortable and as enjoyable as possible. Her apartment is just the perfect size for a couple and has all of the necessary appointments to make you feel at home. There is no better location from which to visit Cuenca if you are interested in exploring El Centro. If security is something you are concerned with, you need not worry at all staying at Bev's place. The building and apartment are as secure as any place you'll find in the city. Further, there is zero street noise in the unit. Sleep sound and well at this apartment. In addition, there is a small Tia grocery store next door to the apartment that has most all of the essential items for which to stock the frig for your stay. Rent with complete confidence, you'll be glad you did.
Imagine a home away from home in Cuenca! This apartment has everything you need for comfort. The kitchen was fully equipped. I had coffee every morning, and when I cooked dinner, I had everything I needed to prepare meals. This place is close to everything, there is a supermarket right next door! Washer and dryer in Apartment!! Incredible! I washed clothes as soon as I got in. I had already been on the road for a few days and this place was a God send. Direct TV, DVD , flat screen TV, great movie collection, incredible water pressure in shower, lots of hot water, amazing art, comfortable bed, and secure! You have to go thru 4 locked doors to get into the Apartment. The place had so much comfort that at times, I just wanted to hang out and watch movies. I was sooooo comfortable. The Loaner cell phone was always great to have with me walking around town. There is even a Magic Jack phone to call the states for free if you like! The internet is strong, had no problem streaming videos!
Beverly was a fabulous host! She told me the great places to see and more important, what was good what was not. She even picked me up at the airport, which is a huge help!
I can guarantee you a great experience with this place, and an even better experience in Cuenca if you stay here! I was overwhelmed and I'm sure you will be too
Great apartment right in the middle of Old Cuenca. Bev was great. She picked us up at the bus station when we arrived and showed us the place, and she met us on our final morning when we gave her the keys back. The apartment was very comfortable and had pretty much everything we could have needed.
I had no idea what life had in store for me when I made the big move to Cuenca, but it was the best decision I've ever made in my life. After growing up in Saskatchewan Canada, I spent the next 30 years in a beautiful place called Seattle Washington. Traveling the world and experiencing new cultures has been my life long passion, so my decision to move to Ecuador came as no surprise to my friends and family. My days are full and my friends are many. Ecuador is a place of great beauty and I feel very blessed to be here.
Are there things I miss? Yes of course! I miss great Thai and Indian food! Unlike many Latin countries Ecuadorians prefer mild food so for us 'Heat Freaks' we're busy importing our favorite spices. I miss public golf courses...they are all private in Ecuador and Cuenca only has one. I miss downhill skiing. You would think living at 8500 feet above sea level that would not be a problem but that's not the case. The strong sun at the Equator ensures that at this elevation (and even much higher) you won't see any snow. I have to be careful here..I will get a sunburn even on cloudy days.
My life is much simpler here. I don't drive but public transportation such as buses and taxis are very efficient and very inexpensive. I'm happy to not have the need to maintain a car. I walk more than I ever have in my life.
I have a house keeper. I swore I would never again clean my house with domestic labor being so affordable. I am so thankful for my housekeeper. I have so much more time to do the things I enjoy such as taking art classes, playing bridge, hanging out with friends, going to see the symphony, ballet or other cultural events...all free of course. The Government pays the artists to ensure everyone in the country is able to attend and enrich their lives.
Some of the most delicious and healthy produce in the world is available at prices that North America hasn't seen in decades.
Yes...life is good in Ecuador but don't take my word for it. Come and see for yourself....
