This fabulous house is located right under the Parthenon, literally in the shadow of Acropolis in the known historical area of Plaka. It has two bedrooms (one double bed and two single beds) and a living room (with a single sofa bed). Apart from the balcony which has a great view of Lycabetus hill and the city of Athens there is a terrace , with a surface of 30sq.m facing the Acropolis where you can relax an enjoy the view.
The metro of Acropolis is less than 200m far from the house. In this area you will see all Athens' sights by walking.
Anafiotika area is a very picturesque (website hidden) is also know as "the island without a sea".Actually it gives the impression of an island with its small white-washed houses, narrow streets and steps, stone walls and gardens full with flowers.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact (website hidden) would be my pleasure to help!

We spent to two happy weeks based in the apartment, which is part of an old house in the delightful and peaceful 'village' of Anafiotika on the North-East slope of the Acropolis. The aparment really is in the shadow of the Acropolis in the late afternoon, but is in bright sun in the morning and breakfast-time is perfect sitting on the terrace overlooking the Plaka and looking out to Lycabetus Hill in the North. The apartment has recently been throughly modernised and is pristine and welcoming. Perfect for a couple with 2 kids, maybe a slight squeeze for 4 adults (but we managed). You can walk to all of the classical sites of Athens and anywhere in the Plaka in 5 to 20 minutes (the new and fabulous Acropolis Museum is at the end of the street).
Rania, her mother (who lives downstairs) and Spiros (the neighour and taxi driver) are very helpful and welcoming. Getting Spiros to pick you up from the Airport is a good idea (although the apartment is very close to the Acropolis Metro stop, it's uphill all the way). Spiros' rates are fair and his advise on dealing with modern Athens, recommendations for places to visit and where to eat all turned out to be very sound.
Can't imagine a better place to stay in athens! Amazing views from rooftop terrace. Spyros picked us up from the airport and gave excellent advice on the city and where and where not to go. Spyros was very friendly and welcoming and because of that we had a true Greek experience!
Rania is very hospitable, and her apartment was clean and comfortable. It was so nice of her to provide some simple breakfast food, fruit, and drinks in the apartment so that we didn't have to get out first thing to buy any groceries after our long travel to get there. She also had provisions to cook a simple meal in the apartment if the guest so desired, as well as a bottle of Greek wine that we enjoyed on the terrace of the apartment with the most amazing view. The location can't be beat--lots of little shops and restaurants that are easily walkable from the apartment, and close (mostly walking distance) to most of the major sites in Athens. I would recommend this apartment if you are looking for a great location and warm hospitality from the host. It was also easy to communicate with her via the airbnb website prior to the trip for questions I had regarding some logistics.
This was a perfect choice to see Athens! Rainia was an excellent hostess, and communicated perfectly. The house was very, very clean. It was a stone's throw from the Acropolis! There was plenty of hot water. Rainia had snacks ready for us upon arrival! My family was delighted with her place. The location is the best! We would definitely stay here again! I don't think there's a better place to stay in Athens. We felt very safe at all times. We were able to walk to everything! Ruins, museums, shops, restaurants & groceries were very close. Rainia's mother lives downstairs, and is a sweetheart!
We hired Spiros, Rania's neighbor & taxi driver to bring us from the airport. He is an excellent tour guide with good recommendations for site seeing and shopping. He drove us to Delphi & back one day which was a very nice day.
Rania and Spiros speak very good English, though with their humble Greek manners, they would never admit it!
Rania is a professional photographer, and took our family photos before we left Athens. What a bonus!
The Greeks are very kind. They are happy to have visitors, and very appreciative if one tries to speak Greek.
Absolutely the BEST place in Athens. Highly recommended! AAAAA++++++
Simply wonderful: A wonderful appartment with a wonderful view in a wonderful neighbourhood with a wonderful host family. The house is extremely clean and has fantastic views from the windows as well as from the large roof terrasse of the Acropolis and Athens city. In one minute you are in the most peacefull part of Plaka with lots of good restaurants to choose from. The hostess Rania is very helpful and kind and so is her mother Popi who lives on the floor below the appartment. Popi is hospitality writ large. This is the best place we have ever stayed:-):-):-).
This was an outstanding experience. Rania, our host, was very responsive to our emails and very gracious. The apartment was spotless and very clean. The location was most excellent for all of our sight seeing in Athens. Everything was within walking distance. She hooked us up with her neighbor, Spiros, who is a taxi driver and he picked us up at the airport at an arranged time and drove us back on the return trip. He was prompt and courteous, with a spotless cab I might add. I highly recommend both Rania and her apartment for a stay in (website hidden): Spiros, the taxi drive, recommended the restaurant which is just a 2 minute walk down the street from the apartment. It was so great that we wound up eating there two times!
We feel extremely fortunate to have been able to stay at Rania's comfortable, sparkling clean apartment. It is beautifully fitted out, and to say the view is breathtaking is an understatement. The position, situated on the side of the Acropolis is extraordinary and you are only minutes walk to anywhere you might want to go- the Parthanon, the Agora, the Plaka, everything is close by. But it is not just this that makes Rania's apartment so special, it is Rania and her family and friends who take it to another level. Rania has tried to think of everything to make your stay comfortable, from groceries and toiletries, to maps and guide books. She can arrange for her good friend, Spiros, who is a taxi driver, to collect you from the airport or port and he is also available to take you on tours or drop you off and pick you up from around town, all at very reasonable rates. He is also a font of knowledge about good local places to eat and shop. The kindness continues with the care and interest of Rania's mother, who lives nearby. She kindly popped by a couple of times with delicious home-cooked meals and fruit and is someone who makes a trip to Greece even more special. We heartily recommend Rania's apartment and feel privileged to have been able to stay there. Thank you, Rania and we hope to see you all again soon.
Very good place in Athens, and great location. It's a wonderful house and facility for the travelers!!
Just read the other reviews and you'll get the idea. It is a fantastic apartment in a fantastic "village" in a fantastic part of Athens. We stayed just under two weeks and I can still see the changing colours of the various views, feel the night breeze through the open bedroom window, hear the sounds of the neighbours getting off to work in the morning, asking after each other, wishing each other a good day, taste the feta, the oil, the tomatoes, the wines, the ouzo, feel the worked calf muscles from walking the wonderful hills of Athens and the streets of the Plaka at night. Rania, her family and her friend Spiros can all contribute to helping you enjoy your stay in exactly the way you want to. There if you need them but not intrusive. We send them, and Greece, our best wishes.
Amazing and fabulous! Location was spectacular. The house sits at the top of a narrow steep hill – the home greets you with charm and grace of shutter windows and white washed walls.
The flat was modern and clean with all the amenities needed to just drop off your luggage and begin to explore the area. The spiral staircase that ends on the rooftop terrace is amazing. The views of the town can be seen all around, although the most spectacular view is that of the wall of the Acropolis, so close you feel as though you could reach out and touch the wall.
Many hours were spent sitting on the terrace and taking in the amazing breathtaking views!
The narrow streets behind the flat are for walking and enjoying the peace of Greek style living. The locals gather and sit in front of their homes along with many cats, and welcome the curious tourist.
The location of the flat is within walking distance to many attractions, the Acropolis and museum, tourist shops, restaurants, Cafe’s, Hadrian’s Arch, Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Theatre of Dionissos. If you see a guide map called ‘Smile’ (they are free) pick one up. The map really helped with getting around and ‘Smile’ is also a very reasonable priced restaurant to eat Gyros.
Planning the trip through Airbnb and communications with Rania went very smoothly. Rania arranged for Spiros taxi service (Spiros lives a few doors away)to pick us up at the airport. As there were 5 of us, we had Spiros and his brother with a 2nd taxi.
Spiros speaks good English and was very helpful with recommendations and suggestions for places to visit and restaurants to eat at. Highly recommend hiring Spiros when you need transportation. His rates are very reasonable and he is always on-time.
We enjoyed our stay ‘In the shadow of the Acropolis’ so much, that it was hard to say farewell.
Ranias’ place is the best place to stay when visiting Greece.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
